What I personally like about how they show Brandon's use of powers is how feral they are. Normally with superheroes, you see them using fighting techniques for out of the box thinking to defeat their opponent using their powers. But with Brandon, it's almost feral with his usage. It's brutal, quick, and messy, which would be obvious for a child who hasn't had any experience fighting. But it's still a cool thing to see and a nice change to how powers are used.

While that is true, I think it’s more than that. I like the story “Irredeemable” for this because it tackles an evil superman very well, it was the influences and upbringing that defines everything about an individual. Chris' Channel Him never bleeding doesn’t mean he can’t die. I mean have you ever heard of a drowned victim? Oxygen starved victim? How about people dying in bed? Organs can be shut down. Sure the kid can’t bleed but that doesn’t mean he doesn’t have regular organs that work like anyone else’s. So as best as the father could do he tried killing him with a bullet. As we the audience know that won’t kill him the father doesn’t and that was his best shot at trying to kill him. What else was he supposed to do? Just let his son kill or have his son just kill him without trying to do anything. What would you have done in that moment without any of the knowledge you have over Superman? He doesn’t even know he got cut by the meteor thing either so that’s out of the options. Even Xenomorphs are susceptible to bullets. The Father was most likely hoping that he could still kill him by shooting his brain, I mean have you ever heard of shooting someone in the head? Yes he can’t bleed but that doesn’t mean he doesn’t have organs functioning like our own. Remember the audience knowing things doesn’t mean character choices are stupid because they don’t know said things. Lastly the father knows a gun can kill and he’s killed with it before. He’s not going to go all Tcm on the boy because why do that when you can have a gun that works even better with a better explanation to why he has a gun instead of a chainsaw. He knows guns can kill and that’s all he really has to use so it’s like a last stand situation.

I think this movie fails to capture the nuance this type of story requires I would've liked it better if he wasn't a sleeper agent but just a kid with godlike powers doing whatever the fuck he wants because nobody can stop him or hell have him have a bad upbringing anything is better than the severely overused sleeper agent plot

6:03, With how we tend to here Brandon's movement's, at least when he's not flying or interacting much with surfaces (as his flight allows him to move silently, while his speed walking later at the diner is audible), I'd say this was telekinesis. Given the electromagnetic interference and extreme temperatures he can cause with his presence, it seems to suggest that much like Brandon himself, his powers have as much in common with that of a Saiyan (or more specifically, Goku) from Dragon Ball as that of a Kryptonian from DC Comics, as the former are able to generate energy and affect their environment (and themselves) with their minds to a degree, but the main reason they and other Dragon Ball characters tend to not use it combatively is due to concentration, as it's relatively far easier for them to focus on their own bodies and movements (hence their enhanced physicalities and ability to fly) than that of whatever external thing they are focusing on. And even more interestingly than that is that there is another original supervillain origin film called Chronicle with characters that are explicitly telekinetic. That or he’s just using his flight to move fast enough to close the laptop and leave before being seen the way he got behind the police woman from outside the house in a matter of seconds without a sound.

You don't need "character development" for a good story. What did you want? The boy to find empathy in the last moment and feel sorry? Would that made it better for you? The boy actually did have character development. He started out as a good boy and turned more and more into a total psycopath. The mother also eventually turned around and was willing to kill her child for the greater good. So yeah, character development was there. You just didn't like it. Also, you don't need a sad backstory of child abuse to justify a villains actions. Some people are just deranged psycopaths.

Im not going to say that they were stellar parents, but they were by no means bad. In fact, the Dad was actually pretty realistic. He did figure it out quickly, even if he could have done something else to avoid the eventual disaster. The Mom was as you expect a mother to be, that being stubbornly hanging on to hope that she didnt raise a monster, but she did also find the actual way to kill Brandon. Thing is, she was too late. Their main problem was that they didnt communicate. If the Mom had accepted that her son was up to something wicked, maybe she couldve reasoned with him before he went too far, perhaps even sit him down and tell him straight up about his origins rather than tell him spur of the moment when he is on an emotional roller coaster as it is. Failing that, she couldve told the Dad that the evil space ball thing managed to cut Brandon and make him bleed, especially since the Dad had mentioned that Brandon never had right before this. He could very well have melted someone that down into a bullet and actually succeeded in killing Brandon when they went hunting. The biggest failing everyone had was not communicating. That goes for the Aunt not telling the Sheriff as well and the Uncle not talking to the Aunt before speeding away and then dying.

@@imapopo2924 I mean, wouldn't the uncle and aunt both die if the uncle went back to the house? The uncle would have alerted the aunt which would of made Brandon kill both so nobody knew that he was evil

Thought I’d note this at the beginning of the video before the kills: I love the intros James, hearing your thoughts and all the behind the scenes stuff draws me in every time. Don’t let some negative feedback dissuade you, I’m in it for all the content, not just the bloody goodness. Stay awesome.

I actually feel bad for Erika, she's just doing her job trying to be a decent mother and all and this shitty 14 year old fanfic edition superman-like character just comes in her store, basically tortures her for a brief moment and causes her death.
