I’ve been a pro touring drummer my whole life and I can tell you that Nic isn’t just the “owner’s kid” playing the drums. He’s playing every single lick his dad played on these songs and more with authority. He wouldn’t be on the drum seat for one of the most musically challenging bands in the world if he wasn’t a badass drummer. And most mind blowing: He’s 20 years old and already a monster.

Not getting the Phil criticism. He sounds good. The band is tuned down obviously to fit his key. The man has serious health problems. Admirable that he can do it all. It’s called live music. While there are a lot of asshole and inconsiderate comments, we have to be realistic here... I've been a fan of Genesis and Phil for decades, but this is just painful to watch for the most part... *I'm a fan, not a fan boy* ... i'm not going to say it's great when it's clearly not... The *band* still sounds great, Phil unfortunately not so... While i understand why Phil is doing this and part of me is excited watching these guys playing on a stage again, Phil is just not up for it, he was not up for it in his previous solo tour as well. If people want to go to the gigs and support Phil and the band that's great, hope it sells out everywhere, but let's stop pretending it's great, and analyze with a bit more "coldness" the overall performance...

He does not sound good at all, sorry. The band obviously can play well, but what they are doing to Phil, letting him suffer through sets and concerts in this condition.. it is cruel. And the fact that he is 70 is not an excuse. Lots of singers in his age can still carry a tune. Phil, sadly, not anymore. I love Genesis and even tolerated most of Phil's solo stuff ... but I don't want to have this sad performance be my last memory of him on stage.

@BlorpGlorp Жыл бұрын
I would like to conjecture that it is not so much criticism as much as it is sadness. And agreed, he sounds as good as he can sound in this day. But as somebody who loves the catalog of work he produced as much as I do, it is a lament of the loss of youthful mastery that is at the root of any criticism. Like all things, the gardener gives way to the winnower, and as much as it pains folks to see their own parents lose the luster of virility, so it goes for your heroes of yore.

That ovation when they walked on was unbelievably emotional. How long we'd waited and how long we roared! I was hoarse before they'd played a single note! A glorious, unforgettable night. I genuinely don't understand the armchair critics. To be in the company of Genesis live one more time, knowing it will be the very last time, was overwhelming. They didn't undermine their legacy; they added further memories to treasure. Of course they are no longer in their prime - who is aged 70? - but none of it mattered. They were there. We were there. And their music was as powerful as ever, and Phil still knows how to hold an audience. His reduced vocal abilities added poignancy and heart, and I loved every second. It was more than I could have ever hoped for. Thank you for all the uploads.

One added weird thing on top - they play a track from my favourite film composer (Thomas Newman) from one of my favourite films (American Beauty) as they walk on stage. Thank you DM and Thank you Genesis! They sound a lot better than the critics would have had us believe. Phil is a wonder. Been a fan since 1971, and my first live show was 1973 in Montreal. Fan for life. I wish them all a fun tour and long healthy lives.

Turn It On Again transposed down, understandably. However, Phil is to be commended. I think the backing singers are a great addition to the ensemble. It makes the vocal blend rich. Kudos to Phil's son, who like Jason Bonham, steps up and nails it like a pro.

Each to their own but personally I think they’ve lowered the key so much it starts impacting the sonic quality of the song. Props to Phil and the gang for giving it their best but I think it’s pretty painful to watch.

I'm not a big Genesis fan, but I think Phil sounds pretty good, considering his physical condition. His voice is clear and in tune (stepped down). Many pop rock singers of his age

My wife and I saw them in Liverpool last night, so I had to check out the latest KZbin additions. Nice to get some decent quality video, shame about the sound quality, but you can't have everything. I've been a Genesis fan for more years than I care to remember, and it's been 14 years since we saw them live, but this was worth the wait and the ticket money. Such a shame that Phil Collins is in such poor health, but he bears it incredibly well. His voice is still strong, and his sense of humour is still as sharp as ever. Nick is every bit his fathers' son, and plays brilliantly. His career will doubtless be a long one. My only question is, is it The last domino? Note that question mark. Will the group carry on after this tour? There is a precedent for them losing a vocalist and getting a new lease of life, that's how Phil Collins got the job after all! While they are all "men of their age", I'm sure Mike Rutherford and Tony Banks have more to give, if they have the will to carry on. Only time will tell.
@benkizer95093 жыл бұрын
I think once Phil retires for good, Mike and Tony will hang it up as well. They tried going on with another vocalist (Ray Wilson) and it went one album before they put the group on indefinite hiatus. Tony has stated that he hates touring and only enjoys it because he gets to spend time with Mike and Phil. Mike still tours with Mike and the Mechanics and likely will continue doing so after this Genesis tour.

I grew up with Genesis, and it breaks my heart to see the condition Phil is in. He lost all of his vocal range, and the gravel he had in the upper range. I know he has had many challenges in his life. I truly hope that he is fullfilling the dream of being back with his mates and his son behind the drums. Cheers! Phil, and Cheers Genesis!

I seen Genesis many times over the years on almost each tour.. I was blessed to see them during the Invisible Touch tour at a spectacular concert at Wembley stadium on July 1987 which was the very first ever concert shot in high definition I later heard.. The atmosphere there at the time was priceless..

Genesis and Phil as a solo-man provided us with so many amazing memories of a time that can never be repeated. I am so happy that my 10 year old has found a liking for this music. She consistency reminds me how awful todays music is and wishes she could have grown up in the 80's. Hopefully there will be a rebirth of this era of music in the future....

I'm not going to sit here and pretend that Phil sounds as good as he would if he would not be suffering from his condition. But I know that Phil dug deep down in his heart and decided that he was NOT going to go down feeling sorry for himself and rot away just sitting there at home waiting for the pain and sorrow to consume him. He is doing this for himself. And that is not a bad thing. He does this so that he would not suffer any more than he already is with his health. I am a U.S. Navy veteran diagnosed by the V.A. with PTSD and the Gulf War Syndrome. So I know physical, mental and emotional pain and it is not easy living with these struggles. He inspires people with his determination.

I have my ticket taped to the wall here... September 15th... but, Ireland was cancelled. I so wanted to be at this , The Last Domino. These clips are superb, and the sound is excellent. Phil Collins... what's to say? If England had a Mount Rushmore, he'd be one of the four (along With Banks, Rutherford and Darryl ). Behind the Lines is the greatest opening , of any piece of Rock in the last 40 years, surely? Long live this Mount Olympus of bands ⛰

I remember camping out overnight for tickets for The Invisible Touch Tour when I was 16. That’s what you did back then. They played 4 or 5 sold out shows in Chicago and I think I saw them on the first night. It’s amazing that after al these years their music still means a lot to me and I think about my teenage misfit years. I wish I could see them one more time but I live in Thailand and that’s not part of the tour. Thanks for the vids.

I’ve loved Genesis since the first time I heard Trick Of The Tail ! I would love to see this last tour too but can’t justify over $700. to see them once more, just seeing this part of their performance brings so many memories, good & bad, from my life ! Their earlier work is my favorite. It’s sad that all the magic the music that accompanied my life is disappearing rapidly as, one by one, they depart this world for the next.
