Deadpool movies also happen in the same new timeline during 2016-2024, before 2029/Logan. But Deadpool knows that Logan would die in the future as he is an extremely, extremely meta aware character. Heck, he even knows that he is a fictional character in a movie.

In the first movie, Ajax was forcibly creating mutants and using them as super soldiers, then in the second movie, the evil orphanage turned out to be part of the Essex Foundation, which is run by Mister Sinister, and since the events of “Logan” are connected to Deadpool’s universe’s timeline, it’s only about five years before the events of the film happen.

I don’t know how he felt about Wolverine being in this movie at all or Deadpool weaponizing the adamantium skeleton of Old Man Logan. Edit: As of this writing, Mangold has stayed quiet on his reaction to Deadpool murdering the rouge Minutemen with Logan’s skeleton. However, one of the co-writers for Logan thought it was funny.
