In this reaction video I watch Deadpool for the first time! Deadpool is an action packed super hero (he may be super, but he's no hero) film. Ryan Reynolds and Morena Baccarin star in this X-Men film series from 2016. In this reaction I will give my first impressions, along with final thoughts and commentary.

Fun fact: The final battle takes place in front of and on top of what looks like a decommissioned helicarrier. If you're familiar with the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU), this ship is similar to the ones used by S.H.I.E.L.D., first introduced in The Avengers (2012). The design itself actually dates back to Jack Kirby's creation in Strange Tales #135 (August 1965), where it first appeared as part of the Nick Fury, Agent of S.H.I.E.L.D. serial. However, the Deadpool director has since clarified that it's technically not a S.H.I.E.L.D. Helicarrier, stating: "No, it's clearly not the Helicarrier. I just want to say for the record, there's a lot of groups in the Marvel universe who use flying combat platforms. It's not just the Helicarrier. A.I.M. (Advanced Idea Mechanics) has some. It could have been anything but a S.H.I.E.L.D. Helicarrier, because that would be outside of the purview of the Fox/Marvel arrangement." Interestingly, the director had a smile while saying this, suggesting it might still be a nod to the Helicarrier, even if they couldn't officially call it that due to legal reasons. In my view, this subtle reference could be a fun hint at the possibility of groups like A.I.M. or other organizations existing within the Fox X-Men universe, even if they couldn’t explicitly mention them. Additionally, the character of Bob in this scene is a fun nod to comic book fans. In the comics, Bob first appeared in Cable & Deadpool #38 (May 2007) as Bob, Agent of Hydra. He's usually depicted as an antihero and a sidekick to Deadpool. In the film, while they couldn't use Hydra due to legal reasons, they still included Bob as a familiar face among the bad guys. It's a clever way to include him without stepping on any rights issues, while still giving a shoutout to fans who know his backstory from the comics. All the X-Men films, including Deadpool, take place in Earth-10005, the home reality of the Fox X-Men films. In contrast, the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU) is set on Earth-616, also known as The Sacred Timeline. Due to rights issues, the MCU was left without key properties like the X-Men and the Fantastic Four for many years, while the Fox X-Men films couldn’t reference the greater Marvel universe. It’s similar to what it would be like if DC made their own connected universe but couldn’t use the Justice League. Instead, they might have to rely on a team like the Teen Titans, but without being able to reference that Batman was Robin’s mentor. It’s that kind of limitation, both universes were incomplete because of these rights divisions, preventing them from fully acknowledging certain iconic characters or storylines. X-Men simply never crossed over into the greater Marvel Universe, same applies to Fantastic Four.

Most “young people” completely miss this reference - “rich, Corinthian leather”. 5:56 Way back in the day, the actor Ricardo Montalban, had become quite famous both for playing Mr. Roarke, the mysterious “host” of the TV show “Fantasy Island” (a huge hit show back around 1977-1984), and then he played the iconic role of Khan in Star Trek 2: The Wrath of Khan. He cashed in on this fame with a series of ads for luxury cars from Chrysler in the 1980s, in which he would caress the seats in an almost disturbing way, and mention the “rich, Corinthian leather” used for the seats. The funny thing is, people assumed Corinthian leather must be really luxurious, but it really wasn’t. Anyway, if you watched TV in the 80s, you knew that phrase. I love that they put so many “old” references to 80s & 90s pop culture in this movie, kinda IFKYK feeling. 😎

Or the Audi 5000 when Vanessa pulls the Hugh Jackman mask off. The Audi 5000 was one of the cars that got really publicity for "sudden unintended acceleration". Cars suddenly accelerate with the driver often losing control. Audi had a number of recalls because of it. It was a big story on 60 Minutes that really launched the controversy. It was so painful for Audi it almost killed the company. So it really hurt!!!! Btw if you see automatic transmission shifters With patterns instead of just forward and back, it was in response to this issue. Another thing was the requirement to press the brake pedal To shift out of park.

It's funny that you recognize Morena Baccarin as being from Stargate SG-1. I love that show and have seen every episode, but I completely forgot about her character until just now. Most people (especially in the geek community) know her as being one of the stars of Firefly, which was her big break. If you liked seeing her as a villain on Stargate, you can see her play the main antagonist on two shows that received positive reception but were unfortunately cancelled: 2022's The Endgame and the late-2000s remake of V. She also had a starring role for the first several seasons of Homeland and a recurring role over many seasons of Gotham (where her love interest on the show became her real-life husband and father of her children). She's now probably most known for playing Vanessa, but yeah, she's a great actor who's played a lot of different roles.

Love this movie. This Deadpool is like the most accurate depiction in a movie ever. Ryan Reynolds completely put his heart and soul in bringing Deadpool to life The idiots at 20th Century Fox originally shelved this movie because they didn’t think it would make money, but they had their hand forced because because someone (and to this day it truly isn’t known who it really was) leaked the test footage on KZbin and within 24 hours they were bombarded with so much angry tweets and fan letters that they gave in and gave them a budget of only 1/3 of what the average superhero blockbuster costs. It wound up becoming the highest grossing R rated film internationally. Colossus in the comics is Russian. His name is Piotr Rasputin. The previous X Men movies just showed him as a slender shiny man, which didn’t look comic accurate. Therefore, they made Colossus huge (as he should be) and Russian, which is based on the comics. There are some Fun-facts about it. The final fight scene was suppose to start with a massive gun fight, which is why Deadpool had so many guns, but their budget ended up getting cut and because of that they couldn't film the gun fight. So they kept Deadpool getting all the guns ready but changed it to Deadpool forgetting the guns in the car to make it into a joke since they couldn't do a gun fight. In the comics whenever someone would talk too much, Deadpool would shoot himself out of boredom. Him shooting Francis is a reference to that. Keep up the good work.

@@kevinking3798 The reduced budget meant making some difficult decisions with the script. One character the filmmakers could not afford was Garrison Kane, Wade "Deadpool" Wilson's fellow Department H subject who was briefly known as Weapon X. "Deadpool" director Tim Miller told Empire: "In the original script the action in the third act was great, but it was just Deadpool and a lot of guns. One of my notes early on was that I wanted to see more superhero stuff. We had Garrison Kane in there for a while, but in the final round of budget cuts we had to take him out, because he was a pretty expensive dude. He’s got these bionic arms that change shape; he would have been a visual effect for a large part of the movie. And as it turned out, a visual effect too far." there are several articles stating what the Director Tim Miller said. you can google.
@kevinking3798

@@MarcoMM1 I read that as making two separate (though related) points: Point 1: "The original script the action in the third act was great, but it was just Deadpool and a lot of guns...I wanted to see more superhero stuff" In other words, the decision to leave the guns was an artistic decision, to show more "superhero stuff" rather than just a big gunfight. Point 2: "We had Garrison Kane in there...but in the final round of budget cuts we had to take him out, because he was...pretty expensive. He's got these bionic arms that change shape; he would have been a visual effect..." The part they couldn't afford wasn't guns, it was the character that would have required lots of extra cgi. In other words, the budget cut didn't make it so they "couldn't film the gun fight." The change to the gun fight was for artistic reasons (Point 1). The budget cut made it so they cut out Kane's character Weapon X (Point 2). They could afford to film a gun fight - in fact, they did have lots of guns in the fights. More guns didn't make it more expensive. Garrison Kane's character did. Nothing to do with the guns. I guess you could say, they couldn't afford Garrison Kane's guns... :)

The best thing about deadpool is he was created in 1991, and he was made to be a anti hero who knew he was a comic book person, so breaking the 4th wall was always apart of him. He is my 3rd fave comic book hero Wolverine, Johnny Storm, then Deadpool. Ty for the reaction.

Also while Deadpool's powers were based on Wolverine's powers because he had cancer at the time when they came into effect instead of having super regeneration what Deadpool really ended up with was super cancer. While Wolverine's body regenerates by making healthy new cells, Deadpool regenerates dying cancerous cells. Essentially Deadpool is always dying but unable to die.

"Rich Corinthian Leather" is just one of a hundred obscure references in these films that some people won't ever catch. It is a callback to a line from a marketing campaign for a crappy car called the Chrysler Cordoba. The tried to market the car as a luxury or upscale vehicle but it was total crap. Most people know these films have a lot of references to comics and comic films that came before Deadpool, but several of Deadpool's references are callbacks to pop culture, commercials, films that aren't comic movies, all kinds of things. I am sure you'll love Deadpool and Wolverine, but you'll miss a ton of callbacks, references, jokes, etc, that stem from the X Men films and other films if you skip them and go right to D&W. How do I do this without a spoiler.. I encourage folks to watch all the Marvel Comics films that came out before this one, starting with any of them from the late 90's and early 2000's. That way you'll catch the references and jokes in Deadpool and Wolverine, and the emotional scenes of the film will have extra layers and they'll genuinely make you cry. Either way, have fun!

Oh, though don't get me wrong. The references are non-stop. Deadpool and Wolverine is a love letter to the Fox Marvel movies. Plus the MCU, there's 25 years of backstory and I think 40+ movies that random callbacks could come out of. It'll be great on its own, but there's a lot that will be missing.

For an explosion, you need heat, oxygen and a fuel in a confined space. The cannister from which Deadpool escaped with the match lacked fuel.
@clonexx
@clonexx 2 ай бұрын
You know in hospitals, where they have nozzles on the wall that can pump out pure oxygen? There’s a reason there’s a warning to not keep any heat or potential sparks near them. Same with anyone who uses supplemental oxygen at home from a bottle, can’t smoke around them or leave the bottle near a heater. Pure oxygen from a bottle like they were pumping into that chamber plus high heat, like a match, equals big boom. You can Google it if you like :) Now, the probability that it hits the right saturation and explodes before blowing the match out, that’s a different thing. However, it is possible to ignite pure oxygen. Also, it’s a movie about a dude who mutates into a basically immortal anti-hero, realism isn’t really a pre-requisite.

Be warned that Deadpool&Wolverine relies * *heavily* * on knowledge of, and emotional connection to, previous Marvel movies, going all the way back to Blade (1998). This Deadpool movie can be enjoyed without that, but if you plan to watch D&W without becoming familiar with those films, you will be even more confused that in the second Deadpool. You will ask yourself: "who is this?", "why should I care about this?", "what is this a reference to?", etc. If you do want to get better acquainted to those films, consider asking your patreons for a watch plan.

Hey, Liteweight! This film is part of the X-Men film series! To best appreciate it, you need to see all that came before it! You jumped the gun! "Deadpool" was a passion project and it comes across in every frame. Ryan Reynolds redeemed the mute zombie portrayal of Wade Wilson from an earlier film in the Fox X franchise and absolutely nailed this character! Deadpool knows he's a fictional character and his fourth-wall breaks are his trademark. It was a blast seeing a class act like Leslie Uggams go down-and-dirty vulgar as Blind Al. Dopinder is hysterical. The X-Men stuff is genius. Colossus is Russian in the comics and this version is comic accurate. Ed Skrein as Ajax is delightfully vile. I love seeing Gina Carano in anything and she gets to be a bad guy here! Brianna Hildebrand's Negasonic Teenage Warhead was a comic deep dive for a minor character who is given a fantastic showcase and a completely different power set! T.J. Miller is a great improv partner. Morena Baccarin gives the movie heart. The action is inventive and the violence is gloriously gratuitous! Stan Lee as a strip club DJ has got to be his best cameo! Director Tim Miller delivered one of the best translations of a comic book character to the screen! The final battle taking place on a decommissioned SHIELD helicarrier was a chef's kiss addition and the end-credit scene was a perfect send-up of "Ferris Bueller's Day Off"! I hope the "ALIEN 3" reference makes you want to see ALL the films in that series when you get to it! The ASSEMBLY CUT is the version of the third movie to see!! X-MEN TIMELINES: Egypt --> 1845 --> Nagasaki --> First Class --> DOFP --> Origins ------------------------------------------------> X1 --> X2 --> X3 --> Wolverine ----------> New Mutants -------------> DOFP Utopia Egypt --> 1845 --> Nagasaki --> First Class --> DOFP ----------------> Apocalypse --> Dark Phoenix ------------------------------------------------> Deadpool --> Deadpool 2 -----------------> Logan Egypt --> 1845 --> Nagasaki --> First Class --> DOFP ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------> DOFP Dystopia Do NOT watch the films in RELEASE ORDER!!!!!
