I found the compilation Lp some weeks ago in the second hand corner of my record Store. This are exactly the pictures I saw in my imagination while listening to the bands. This must have been a great time going to this club.

It was a blast! My favourite band was the Belfast Cowboys with Rozz Rezabek from Negative Trend & Jimmy Wilsey from the Avengers (later Chris Isaak). Infinitely better than the stupid Offs.

In a lot of ways, hardcore ruined punk, I love the hardcore sound, but the different kinds of bands on the same bill thing disappeared.

I knew Don Vinil from The Offs not long before he died from a heroin overdose. He was a friendly guy, but heroin doesn’t care. There was a lot of heroin around, but I never got into it. However, it seemed that every other person in my own band, Last Rites, wound up being a junkie. I got to where if I even suspected a prospective member was an addict I'd cease all association with him. The only people I knew who died from AIDS got it from dirty needles…

No. Don was not very nice. I could tell you a particular story, but it's not nice to speak ill of the dead.

@@conniechampagne I'll admit my acquaintance with Don was brief. I'll be the first to admit his heroin addiction could have easily led him to make bad decisions. Fortunately, I never used it…

Don Vinyl of the Offs was one of the most pretentious assh*les I have ever had the displeasure to meet & know. And once I got to know him, I made every effort to avoid him. He was also a big yawn as far as talent goes. I shed not one tear when he died. Interesting film tho.
