I’m 67. Over 50 years of dealing with dealerships, none of them enjoyable. Not one. Bought my Tesla M3SR+ in early March 2021, delivered to my home 3 weeks later. What a difference the Tesla buying experience was! OMG - I will NEVER step into another dealership again! I visited a nearby Tesla showroom to do a test drive. When I got back, I walked into the showroom and placed my order. It took maybe ten minutes. Went home, applied for a loan online (another 10-15 minutes), took a couple hours to shop insurance (went with Tesla insurance)… and that was it! Then I just waited 3 weeks for my car. Delivered to my driveway! As Colton’s dad said, the typical buying experience at a dealership is hours and hours, most of it unpleasant (watch the movie Fargo) as they try to sneak in all sorts of ways to increase their profit. (I sold cars for about six months and then quit as I couldn’t stand the devious practices any longer.) Tesla has nailed the buying experience. That’s the only way I’d buy another car.

Buying a new car ought to be an exciting, joyful experience - for most people, it's the second-most expensive purchase they'll ever make - but for some reason most dealerships have turned it into a prolonged, agonizing, stress-filled nightmare. Why? Unfortunately, I doubt few dealerships will "take note."
@ezpoppy55
@ezpoppy55 Жыл бұрын
@@TheRealLaughingGravy You’re right - it should be exciting! I’d have to say that buying a car at a dealership is the way it is because people tolerate being treated that way, and it’s good for the dealership’s profit. The hours long process is designed to wear people down where they’ll accept just about anything to put them out of their misery. Well, “I’m mad as hell and I’m not gonna take it anymore!” That and buying the Tesla way are the only proper responses that might cause a change.

I'm 27 and all my expernces with dealers have been great! Like from a Ferri dealer letting me sit in one of their showroom cars when I was kid. To shopping for the right car over 2 years and each dealer I've seen dozens being very nice to us... To getting $9k off my fist car a 2020 Ford Mustang in march of 2021 when I had been offered a mazda CX-5 with the same discount... And the whole dealer expernce in buying that mustang was geat no more then a hhour for each step like the test drive paper work and dilvery... maybe I'm just lucky but I know their are good dealers out there you just have to find them

Ordered a Chevy Bolt EUV. It came in on Dec 4 or 5th. "Scheduled" picked up on the 10th at 1:00. I had check in hand. Took 2 hrs to get out of there. Should not have with a scheduled picked date/time. They didn't have the car ready yet: washing and taking all packaging off. I first had to talk to the salesman, then the finance dude where I had to tell him I don't want the extended service contract over and over. I had to sit there for 20 mins to sign the DMV paperwork and sign that I didn't want the service contract( in 3 places). Why do I have to sign for something I am not getting?? TWO HOURS. should have been 15 mins max.

It is perhaps the case that the perception of a Tesla owner is that it is a person with a lot of money and this may provoke some people. Then there may be people who dislike electric cars as well. Then the difference with a Mercedes S class is that it did not look ten years ago as it does today. you can therefore look at a Mercedes if it is new or if it is ten years old. if you buy a Mercedes S class, you may not be hated as much if it is ten years old as if it is new

I was a car salesman in 1990 in Virginia. What worked down there did not work in NJ. I only found 1 great dealership here in NJ and that was Gearhart Chevy in Denville. My father, a long time VW driver went an purchased a 1994 Geo Prism with a Toyota engine in it. He talked me into buying a 1994 S10 with a little 4 banger with a stick shift. I drove the hell out of that Truck but the folks at the dealership were wonderful. I think that it is not the dealers that need to take note. It's the automakers. Instead of asking, "How can we beat Tesla?!?!" They are asking, "How can we not go out of business?" And almost do the opposite of Tesla.

After inspecting the build quality of several model 3’s over the last few months, I had high hopes. They seem to have made huge leaps. Well, I took deliver of my 2023 Model 3 Performance in white and can proudly say, not a single issue. I dropped it off to the place that details my cars to take it a few steps above that with a 2 stage paint correction, ceramic coating and front PPF. The guys there all said these new 3’s are coming in with much higher quality in terms of panel alignment and overall fit and their paint is leaps and bounds better.

I've have three delivery experiences with Tesla: 2015 - Model S - They literally rolled out the red carpet for new owners with 1-one-1 orientations and provided drinks and snacks. 2018 - Model 3 - 1st delivery date I checked-in, waited 2 hours and they didn't have my vehicle as the service center. 2nd delivery date they discovered damage to my vehicle cause by transportation . 3rd delivery date I was finally able to pickup the vehicle . 2022 - Model Y (Texas build) - Checked-in, inspected the car on my own, found some minor issue that were correct, and drove off. Even with my different experience with Tesla, it was far better than my experience traditional dealerships. No one trying to up-sale me on items I don't need. However, the service center experience has gone downhill, and I don't think it will ever return to the wonderful level of service I had from 2015-2019. Too many vehicles, not enough Service Centers.

@@samuelweiner5382 yeah we got ours last May. We picked up the m3 dual motor and the car is extremely fast. Much faster than my Camaro SS that it replaced. It's not even close and you don't even need any skill to drive it. Launches perfectly everytime. Ours came perfect without any flaws. No weird panel gaps or any issues that people are saying. I'm starting to think that most cars are perfect but the people that got bad ones are the more vocal which is why you hear about it more. People are more inclined to make a video saying bad things than people are to make a video if their experience is good. The delivery guy also dropped it off at our house on the day of delivery and did a quick intro of the car. It's like switching from a flip phone to a smartphone. You need to test drive one before you buy. I believe Tesla still offer test drives if you have a local store. That is what we did and we placed our deposit the same day.

I took delivery of my Model S Plaid last April. The experience wasn't very good, my wife thought it was terrible. Showed up, signed a few papers, the Rep told me the car was out in the parking lot somewhere. It was a windy 40 degrees that morning. So first thing I checked was the underside of the front bumper. The car is white and it had two long gashes on each side. From the transport I assume. The rest of the car was alright, needed to have silicone removed in a few spots. Went back in and tried to find the person I was dealing with, she had disappeared. Found a manager, he came out and looked it over. To his credit, he wanted to take it back in the shop and on a lift to see if there was more damage. There was. He made a appointment for me to return to get everything replaced. That went well. But why didn't someone look over the car before delivery? It was at the store a day or more. Not great, expected better.

When we bought our two Bmw i4 m50’s it was about 30min process through finance and was done and out the door. We expected Tesla to be better but was massively worse. And to boot, the car had 15-20scuffs in the paint, tail light misaligned. And we got two fobs and neither work even after being added properly. Headache after headache. I scheduled a follow up service appt to fix the tail light which was aligned wrong about 5mm and enought its ugly and expected better...also added homelink garage module but not sure if this is software or hardware...says they need to install..yet it already works on my model 3 to open my garage. a bit confused... also my remotes/fobs didn't work.... sadly i feel dumb they did not have batteries...yet the instructsion make not mention of having to put batteries in them!!! says easy as 1,2,3 but they forget to mention the step before 1!!! add damn battery.... the fobs were added to the car but didn't work... anyhow... silly but figured this out. another issue is they scuffed the crap out of the driver sill "as new" but had super deep scuffs in the panel... we willl likely just not care, but still upsetting they don't take more care our model 3 had 5 miles total on it yet had 20+ scuffs in paint, misaligned tail light and deep scuffs in the drivers side sill..... i understand it could of been much worse.... but we are used to BMW like service and expectations... our two i4 m50's were MILES ahead of this tesla experience and spent much less time at the dealer finishing the paperwork. about 30min to get the financing "no finance actually paid full cash" but still very fast experience. got our keys and were out in 30min from arriving. but tesla was over 3hours waiting due to their mistake...we paid in full but they owed us money and miscalculated the taxes i guess....and they did not have anyone to fix it on a saturday.... very frustrating to not be able to agree to the paperwork terms in their app.... buggy as hell... so to add... tesla has rescheduled our first appt 4 times!!! they keep saying they are busy or whatever and had to rescheudle us... not even considering the times or days or giving any heads up.... just changing it each week... I HOPE the 4th appt will work, as it seems they are too busy to care about us as a new customer....god forbid we had a positive first impression of tesla.... wow... our bmw i4's are far better cars!!! and they also have OTA updates and recently they did a recall with OTA update and fixed it within a week of the recall. tesla has more issues and great with OTA. but bmw seems to be just as good imo. and a much better driving experience. anyhow... shocked this channel didn't menton the i4 as one of the top10 recommended EV's.... shocked they mentioned the IX but not i4!!! wow... whatever...

Love your content. I was just at the Loveland Telsa myself. I have to concur with your experience with the people at the Loveland Telsa, all very helpful. I've recently put in a ordered for a Model Y LR, end of March is what they think. Interesting there was a Model 3 in the show room just at the beginning or the week. They go fast it appears.

I love seeing that F150 Lightning pulling in to park @14:20. I think Ford is moving gradually toward some of the things Tesla does right. When I reserved, ordered, and purchased my F150 Lightning most of that I was able to do on my computer from home. But, I still had to go sit in the dealership for a little while and speak with the financing officers and a few other people. I think the dealerships that survive will be the ones that adapt the changing model, there's still a need for a place to service and pick up new vehicles and the like, and used car sales will still exist, but they're also going to become more like automaker's retail stores like Tesla stores.

I had my MYLR delivered via Carrier Direct in mid-February (ordered on 1/14/23). I am 300+ miles from the closest store - my understanding is that you have to be at least 220 miles away for Carrier Direct. Scheduling it was very easy with the sales advisor and delivery to me was only 4 days after delivery to the store in Colorado Springs. I would rather have taken delivery at the store, but the weather in southern Colorado was pretty bad last month with icy roads, heavy snows and two high-elevation mountain passes between me and Colorado Springs. The delivery experience was really good for me and I'd do it again without hesitation. The same driver also picked up my trade-in vehicle at no extra charge. It was a very positive experience for me.

Yup, so slick and good how Tesla does everything.. even the phone-as-key failure, worked better than other car's successful setup! @31:55 lane departure settings, I have set to warning, it doesn't blare/beep (audible) it just shakes the steering wheel. Good gentle and less-annoying reminder. I do NOT like Assist, don't want the car fighting me when I know what I am doing!

6:50 I was in Norway, Finland and Sweden last December with my mums Model 3 SR+ that has the 60 kWh LFP battery. Even in -15 C (5 F) the charging went smoothly without any issues. It charged from 0 % to 50 % within 14 minutes. You just need to pre-condition the battery before charging and you are fine. Even camping in the car was no problem. I just had to make sure that it was almost fully charged before camping, so that it had more than 50 % left the next morning. With the 50 % left I was able to get to a charger more than 100 km from where I was camping. That was the key to faster charging, that it had 1.5 - 2 hours for pre-conditioning. I did almost that same trip with my Model 3 Performance the year before and I didn´t notice a big difference since it used 10 - 15 % more energy and the charging curve of the Performance Model 3 is not as flat as the SR+ charging curve. So as long as you have home or destination charging and don´t need to use a nearby Supercharger after just a short commute, the SR+ has a good winter performance.

Automotive manufacturers and their dealerships have much to learn about what the car buyer wants. The EV tax credit here in QC Canada, we get up to $12,000 so yes the total price of EV vehicle is important. My friend Shawn explained how easy it was to buy and get his model 3 (apart from the 6-month wait), I just bought a cheap gas car at a dealer (because I can't afford an EV right now) it's true, what a pain, I had to meet with 3 people and it took 2 hours of just saying no, no and no.. I don't want the extended warranty, nor the oil spray, nor the any of the add-ons. It's a Hyundai it has a 5-year warranty, but I know that doesn't mean much. Looking forward to saving and buying what I really want a reliable EV.

I complement Tesla in stream lining and trying to simplifying to buying processes. But keep in mind that they are partially doing this by off loading some of the tasks to the buyer. You must handle all the financing on your end. You must handle the taxes and licensing and stand in the DMV lines to get that handled. No free lunch, just who and where you do it.

1. My dealership didn't require a "wash" before delivery. 2. A service specialist gave me a walk through when I accepted delivery and answered any questions I had. 3. I was invited to attend a new owner's zoom presentation to learn more about my vehicle. 4. Over a year of ownership and no "squeaks" or other noises. 5. AWD Teslas do just fine in the snow on all-season tires. I know from experience.

If I were you, i won't activate the feature to use the brakes when regen is low. Tesla has not yet polished blended braking. My accelerator vibrates when I regen with the brakes. I had to deactivate the feature to stop that from happening. I even heard a loud noise from the brake pedal during regen at one point. It took two service appointments and three days to figure out the issue. I'm back to using only regen and using the brake pedal on my own if regen is low. After all, that's what I used for two years before Tesla added this new feature.

My biggest gripe is a lack of dealer MSRP discounts on top of manufacture rebates/incentives. Audi for example is having $10-15,000 off Etrons with typically another 5-9% dealer msrp discounts on top. Tesla is just here's the price deal with it.

I actually have a question for anyone that knows? How is his map FULL SCREEN? How do you do that? I have a 2022 Model Y Performance and I have never been able to put the map on full screen instead you see the vehicle itself in 3D and the media playing below it on the left of the screen and the map is condensed to 3/4 of the screen on the right side. How do I expand the map to cover the ENTIRE screen like he has in this video? Even the reverse and side view camera's when he's reversing 10min 5sec into the video is almost full screen and not limited to just the right side of the screen. Is it a hidden feature? I'm confused?

If you're turning forget it 😂 there goes your speed! If the wheels don't come off. I'm so happy you mentioned the VW ID.4 now their handling is amazing and the contrast is probably evident daily lol.
