IMPORTANT: Unfortunately, I won’t be responding to Instagram messages anymore. I hope you guys understand. It’s not an easy thing for me to have to say. Back when I first started my channel I had very little subscribers so this was something I could do easily but now as my channel has grown and that I’m a mother to two very young children, it’s impossible for me to respond to everyone. I currently have 92 unread messages in my inbox and that’s only from last week. I’ve also been getting a lot of rude and hurtful messages of people saying that I’m fake because I’m not responding or sending me message after message demanding for my attention. I know how it feels when you’re desperate. Truly, I do. I’ve been there. But please remember I am just one person. A lot of people are also asking me for medical advice but please remember I am not a doctor. I’m just like you. If you want to get in touch, I offer health anxiety talking sessions which you can book here - cherellethinks.setmore.com I have a health anxiety support page on Facebook. Just type in ‘Health Anxiety Community’ and last, I also do regular Q&A’s on my Instagram too to answer any questions people may have. I hope you understand and it’s never my intention to upset anyone. There just isn’t enough hours in the day. Thanks so much. X

DeElite Depends why you get Brain fog I used to get brain fogs for hours when I got it I would think the worst. But it happens when you obese with something you don’t have like say you might think you have something bad and you keep putting that in your mind you’ll brain will get brain fog it feels like you can’t think straight nothing feels real and vision but it’s normal when you have high stress levels and you keep thinking things that you might no have. I have panic attacks and after I do I get real tired but you have to stay calm and not think about the stuff that worries you. When you do get brain fog get fresh air close your eyes breathe and breathe out slowly for couple minutes. It will help a lot. Also try to sleep early while your anxiety levels are high even if you can’t try it will help you so much

I take Magnesium with Glycinata or Taurate every evening which helps my anxiety/panic disorder which helps relax my nervous system, heart palpitations and insomnia. Daily walks for fresh air and exercise also helps. Improve diet & nutrition with more vegetables & fruits, and cut out all sugar, processed food & refined carbs. I thought only older people got brain fog, as I was afraid it lead to dementia. But all that is preventable & reversible. You need your energy to care for your little one, so take care of yourself with adequate sleep, nutritious diet, walks (pushing little one in stroller), and yoga-type exercises. Taking care of your health when young is preventative measure as we age. Take care!

Does anybody else have severe dehydration when your brain fog is at its highest intensities? My brain fog is triggered hugely by stress, but also by poor quality sleep. Those two things I firmly believe are interconnected somehow in my neurobiology and end up short-circuiting my brain. Great video. Thank you. I relate too well.

You are EXACTLY describing everything I experience like perfectly. Like thank you for recording this video because I know it might have been hard for you to talk about? I notice that when I start talking "brain fog" then I start to get the feeling coming up in my brain. Yes, when you say that keeping yourself busy is the best thing to for yourself I absolutely agree and this is what I always do. I hate when I am in brain fog and I snap into realization of what is happening, its extremely uncomfortable. I get brain fog on a daily basis, I have a hard time showering because it always starts when I am in there and I usually have to shower with Netflix on my laptop. Or when I am driving by myself and I realize where I am and what I am doing all when I am driving. Anways.....blah blah I could go on, I like your video.

Thank you for this. Very relatable and helpful. I agree with your thought that brain fog is basically your brain saying, "ok, stop, I can not deal with this anymore, I am taking a break". Some folks might enjoy that state of mind, but for some (including myself), it could be terrifying. You truly start to be afraid to be taken to a mental facility, although you still sense there is a sane part in you and you don't belong there. It's hard to explain to those who haven't experienced such.

Wow, this is the first time I've ever heard anyone explain how I feel almost everyday for close to two years. I first started to feel like this 20 years ago when I would get a hangover. Over the years it gradually got worse and so now I no longer drink any more. It makes my anxiety worse and I don't want to leave the house. I come from a small town where everyone knows each other and I can't bear going out when I have brain fog anxiety in case I have to talk to people. I have since moved to a city where nobody knows me, extreme, perhaps, but at least I can go outside and walk about. I've always struggled to describe the feeling but you've nailed it, Cherelle, even down to the visual aspect. I would like to show your video to my doctor if that's ok? Amazing video, thank you for sharing. If anyone wants to get in touch with me to share experiences please do.

Just wanted to say thank you for making this video. I developed brain fog in October 2020 the day after I managed to secure a new software development job. I'd had "episodes" of it before (lasting a few days, always after killing myself at work 12 hours/day) - but this time it finally "clicked" and has lasted for the last 3 months. If anyone is reading this, I want to give some advice: don't focus on the symptoms and don't focus on it as a medical issue. I went absolutely manic googling answers, visiting doctors, getting blood tests done - and all the time it was getting worse and worse and worse. I'm far from out of the woods, but I've realised: IT IS JUST ANXIETY - and the more I focus on the symptom of brain fog, the worse it gets. At it's peak, I was crying 3 times a day (normally while slapping myself in the head and cursing my brain) while swallowing mouthfuls of Vitamin B, C, D, E, Iron, Ashwagandha, Uridine, Zine, L-Tyrosine, Omega 3 and ordering pills because "some guy" on the internet said "Hey, maybe this is xxxxxxx-itis, or yyyyyyy-osis". It's not true. Brain fog is not a permanent symptom of any disease or deficiency - there are people who eat 3 freezer pizzas a day and sleep 4 hours a night who have perfectly functioning brains. It is somatization (the body developing symptoms in response to psychological distress). I live secure in the knowledge that this will get better, because it's not actually a "thing". My main issue is anxiety, and I'm taking steps to improve that. You will come out of this stronger. Just ask yourself 3 questions: - Is this symptom impacting my performance in life as much as I think it is? (It can often feel like you're disabled, but really ask yourself - is this actually stopping me from doing anything? I'm a software developer, so take it from me - it sucks, but my performance hasn't actually suffered) - Does focusing on this symptom make things better or worse? - Was this bought on by lockdown? If so: don't stress - this is going to be over soon and you'll get back to normal life.
@johnwake6432
@johnwake6432 3 жыл бұрын
I should say, the main steps I'm taking to improve are: stop thinking about anxiety, stop thinking about brain fog - just stay active. Perform your best at work, be grateful for life, be generous with your energy and time. Spend time with loved ones - and generally live healthily.

Great advices, man! But it is bad when it came actually from a thing. In my case, after very bad alcoholic night (1 month earlier i had 25 day course on antibiotics, Ciprofloxacin and Levofloxacin, which can cause it). The day after I woke up with massive brain fog, which lasts almost 2 months already. It feels like it will never going to get away. And mine is so bad it affects every aspect of my life, my job performance heavily downgraded and i Will need to take sick leave. My memory is totally affected and also vision. I hope some day i am going to feel the same as before... Thank you for the great advice anyway. Btw how are you now, 8 months later?

Thanks so much for this video. I started getting brain fog a year ago after having my first anxiety attack. I didn’t know what was happening. I was on depression medications and thought maybe it was a side effect. I talked about it to my friends and family and everyone thought I was high on something. I am currently dealing with it, usually lasts about two weeks. I cannot think, read or even put my thoughts together. It’s so stressful and hard being a college student. I do not know how to make it go away. It honestly makes me feel so lonely and scared. I get extremely exhausted and sooo tired and can’t get out of bed sometimes. It’s so debilitating. Guys you have to just accept this as another symptom of anxiety. You have to lower your anxiety/stress levels to feel better. It is caused by too much obsessional thinking and worry about yourself. You have to start living in the present, and not entertaining your thoughts. It’s a cycle, you have the dpdr symtpom so you start to have anxiety about what it could mean. Then the dpdr gets worse because your anxiety levels are higher. You have to break the cycle by accepting your thoughts and feelings, not obsessing about it anymore. You are all probably thinking about dpdr and panicking over it daily. It is truly counter-intuitive to cure it.

I am in this state for like 4 to 5 years. Never got away. Had good and bad days. I first thought it was some body kind of issue like something with my brain or metabolism or anything like that. It became normal for me, but to be honest i want to feel and experience like it was when i was born. The biggest fear i have is that i waste my time living my life like that. Im a 100 percent sure that it is just all because of things we experience/d or because of the stress deep down in our heads that is acute all the time. If you find your peace of mind and dont worry about things you worried about before, i think life will change. I also think, being or become "normal" again is a slowly process of thinking and feeling good. I heard someone once saying that you have to program or set your mind to feel good.

I truly believe that brain fog, DP\DR is caused by panic attacks. I remember when I was around 8-9 years old I had had a nightmare while I was awake. Which I’m sure was my first ever panic attack. Listening to Cherelle’s experience & reading other people’s experiences sounds so normal to me. Everything she has said has been with me ever since I can remember. If someone was to ask me for advice about brain fog I would tell them to live the life you value.

It's crazy how your perception of reality completely changes and how hyper focused you can be on it. I really miss my old self and frequently look back 5 years to when I was happy. The ignorance was pure bliss. I find it scary as hell being in this mindset. It's come onto me ever since I had a really bad panic attack from weed. When you're in a INTENSE state of anxiety, your body puts you into this state, and then whenever you get some anxiety, your body just flicks back into that mode. - Like I would literally go into that mode whenever I was say... coming down and elevator and my ears would pop. Or I can literally force myself into a panic attack by just thinking about it and thinking about my existence and being spaced out. I'll never do any drug again. I can't even inhale those nitrous oxide balloons without going into panic mode. I find that the things that help me are, making sure that I get enough sleep and eating cleaner foods. Ever since I eliminated dairy, my sleep has been better and I haven't been feeling so spaced out. I'm no expert on this stuff, but I'm trying to seek help and help and many people as I can. I know how awful this can be.

Acceptance is key. I cannot stress this enough. It is so challenging to accept and quite the paradox, but it really does help. Also, removing caffeine, staying fit and active, removing bad foods from your diet, getting enough rest, getting therapy or at least researching mental health and diy-ing it if you you cant afford it, getting stressors out of your life. That helped me. Been mostly brain fog free for 3 years now. Though I do have my days a few times a year, like to day. I hff ad it constantly and so heavy for a good 2 years before I learned enough to help myself out of it.

I’ve gone through brain fog a few times. Had it first a few years ago and recently just started having it again. I went on a float too with some friends a few weeks ago and drank a lot of alcohol. Felt kinda off for a few days, I know it’s because I was dealing with a pretty nasty hangover and hadn’t slept much. It’s been over a week now and I don’t feel hungover but my anxiety is through the roof and I feel like I can’t concentrate on anything. Like I’m still functioning but I’m very forgetful and it’s hard for me to work every day. I think it’s partially because we’re stuck inside due to the virus but man I thought this would’ve gone away by now. I’ve been exercising and that seems to help a little bit but after a few hours it’s back to normal Also recently went through a pretty nasty breakup with someone I really cared about. But it’s been about 3 months since so I don’t know if that has anything to do with it

I checked your bio and found it interesting that OCD and muscle spasms is a comorbidity in tandem with brain fog. I also suffer from both. It makes me think that there's some idiopathic neurological mechanism at play. Perhaps we're wired differently. As someone who - without touting my own horn, is more intelligent than the average person - brain fog is insanely depressing to me. I've found that the best thing to do is just to control all the factors that exacerbate the symptoms (for me, that is eating large meals, so I avoid doing that), while relaxing until it just dissipates over time..

The most stressful thing about brain fog is, before I had it, I could rationalize my way out of irrational anxious thoughts. Like, my anxiety was bad, but I was able to step back and recognize that it was just anxiety and go about my day per normal. I felt anxious, and I had anxious thoughts, but I wasn't depressed because I was in authoritative control. Now, with brain fog, it seems like the more I try and think about it - rationalize my way out of it - the worse it gets, because it does appear to be a sort of "brain fatigue" from thinking too much. Like panic attacks - you can't just rationalize your way out of a panic attack, at least not all the time for me. The best thing to do is just ride through it. But its easier to ride through things when you understand what is happening. I can't understand my brain fog, ironically, because of the brain fog. Instead of me having authoritative control over my brain fog, like I did with my anxious thoughts and even panic attacks, it has authoritative control over me. I can't think around it or through it, and I'm used to "coping" with anxiety by thinking...so this has been extremely stressful and has actually made me depressed. I just wonder, what brought my brain to finally feel this way - to stop thinking - when thinking so much was never an issue before? My medications caused panic attacks, so I think the fear and stress from that overwhelmed me and caused the brain fog, but I can't even remember when the brain fog started versus when I got off my meds...it just seemed to be around the same time. I'll keep trying though. I know I'm still in here because I have brief moments of clarity. Thank you for this hopeful video.

Man, I could not explain it better.. It is really tough to explain it to my family and friends. They are emphatic but no.one actually gets it..and I totally understand them. I have never experienced something like that, never. It is really really scary. You just want to take a pill and over it. I was like the happiest person, excessively active, working with my brain, f* strong memory and all. I developed really big anxiety after covid vaccination, after that i had to took 25 days antibiotics ( Fluoroquinolones - Ciprofloxacin and Levofloxacin). And after a night of very bad overdo with an alcohol, (8th of Aug) from the next day, i encountered the most severe brain fog. I even didn't know what this condition is. But I am explaining the same to my friends and family. The doctors say it is a depression as they do not find anything, but it feels like a real trauma in my head. Not like i do not have a desire to work, work out, go out with my friends, but it is just an impossibility. And while I was dealing pretty good with my anxiety, without any cognitive sympotoms, this is exactly how you have said it... Your strongest weapon (your brain) has been taken away and now it is 1000 times harder to ignore it and just think rationally. It is one thing to.encounter something really difficult in life, but with the a crisp.brain, and.other thing to try to be motivated and deal with the anxiety from.this situation while the brain fog is there . Btw how are.you now?
@kvietimas

@Vasko Dikov did it get better? How are you now? I could relate to everything you wrote. I am going through this brain thing now, and I agree with you - it's almost impossible to explain this condition to others. When you try, you see that people are blank on this, and yes, you can not blame them because if one hasn't experienced this feeling themselves, they just can not get it. I learned that brain fog is a mental fatigue, and at the same time it is a sign that something has to be changed in our lifestyle, work, relationships etc. Our brain is doing this for a reason...

I don't know if it's a miracle but I'd strongly suggest buying the book Hope and Help for your nerves by Claire Weekes. She's an absolute expert in anxiety, and went through it herself. Here is some immediate help though. Accept, float, and let time pass. Fighting, running, and analyzing all feed your anxiety... Your anxiety is nothing more than upsetting thoughts in a fatigued mind. Accept all those horrible feelings completely. They cannot hurt you. Don't fight, don't run, and don't try to figure them out. Accept them, let them do what they do, float through them, and go about your day. It's not easy, I know, but you will get through this. you are not alone, and many people are experiencing what you are.

Since then, I haven't gotten better. I drink coffee and I dont feel good like i used to. I only feel the physical effects. I drink alcohol at times and I dont get the good feeling like I used to. All i feel is numbness. I can barely remember what I did a couple days ago. I can't concentrate anymore. Is something wrong with me? I can't even socialize with people anymore because I can't put my thoughts into words without concentrating 😢. Could it be because my brain has been overwhelmed with anxiety and it just shut off?
