Interesting talk. I have several doubts. Being born Muslim doesn't give you much choice in the matter of faith being completely unbiased. For me, it's the overwhelming genomic evidence against the narrative of special creation of Adam in the Quran. That (and the Quran in general), seems more consistent with the limited knowledge of the time. In general, our world seems more consistent and much more simply explained by nature just being nature. What we observe is exactly what we'd expect if there were no "personal" God involved in the affairs of men and the earth. The problem of evil is not easily resolved. Conscious animals suffer on a massive scale. While some of it is predation, a lot of suffering is gratuitous ...a deer gets impaled or tangled in the woods and suffers in agony for days. What test is there for the deer. Is there a deer heaven to "compensate" the deer? Meanwhile, God simply sits on his hands watching the deer suffer in agony, knowing it will die anyway, but decides the agony must continue for several days. Why not let it just die quickly or anesthetize it? Somehow God is unwilling or unable to reduce animals' gratuitous misery.

Thanks for your comment. Here is a translation / adaptation of a book I found useful and offered me a paradigm shift on this subject, from the Islamic worldview. It even speaks of deer example of gratuitous evil that you shared. yaqeeninstitute.org/read/paper/why-do-people-suffer-gods-existence-the-problem-of-evil

@@isallentown What did you find compelling about that article? All I see is fallacious reasonings - appeals to ignorance and personal incredulity. "have deluded people into assuming they can fully understand everything in the universe" "it can be due to an astronomically complex interaction of factors that we cannot truly comprehend" "we may never attain a full understanding of the causal chain."

We put too much blind faith in to what we think is science but is really scientism. There are so mang lies. So many theories that we're happy to take as fact over the Quran because of our bias which we may not be aware of. So many lies and deceptions mixed with truths fed to us as "science" and reality. I pray for all of our guidance to the truth and the insight that allows us to question ourselves about the origins of our beliefs. So many things we take as reality are more baseless than we think once we inspect the roots of it. May Allah protect us from this scientism that has blinded people to the truth.
