A movement from an OG clock was modified by someone to fit a "grandfather" clock. Repairs enough to make it function are done. This is an example of the kind of butchery that is sometimes done to movements.

This movement looked more like a Borg than a Frankenstein. Your analysis and problem solving is amazing. I hope the client watches the video and appreciated your efforts. I've missed your content and look forward to more.

I've been too busy to edit and publish videos. I'm WAY behind.

I guess if I had 2 weeks of solitary confinement in jail, I would attempt this job.

Who ever did the modifications, went through a lot of work to change it to what they wanted. It's a shame for just how old the movement is.

Wow, what Butchery! I don’t think I would’ve attempted to repair any of it for a customer. Kudos to you for what you did!

I'm no clock maker, but even I could tell someone has been messing with that movement that shouldn't have been.

Who said cider? Or are you British and don't know how Americans pronounce solder?

WHAT A PIECE OF JUNK But what fun it would be to bring it back to life! Too bad you would have to charge about $600.00 to do it. Did you straighten the bent pivot? I love watching you work but this was very frustrating I wonder what the owner will do with it? Obviously it had been worked on many many times.
@dperry42829 күн бұрын
Actually, I did a lot more with this -- straightened bent pivot, flattened and trued up wheels that wobbled, corrected the problem with the pins on the strike wheel rubbing on another wheel. This was actually done for a clock shop that returned it to its case and then to its owner. I don't charge for repairs. Don't want to keep books. I make my money from the videos and ask people to make a donation to our local food pantry for the work I do.
