Aslm wrwb, these videos are so authentic and honest, they are truly helping me with my issues such as these. One tends to think there’s something wrong with just us, as we don’t think this happens to others much. I can relate so much now, very helpful. BaarakAllahu feekum. Please do more of these dealing with real life issues, and providing tangible solutions for current day Muslims. JazaakAllah khair

Totally agree with the idea that toxic people exist and we need to learn how to leave them off. Really happy the brothers spoke about this. Just as important, I would add is knowing the difference between ‘having toxic people around you’ and ‘being paranoid’ (the constant feeling that people are out there to get you) It’ll be interesting if you guys would discuss that on a future ep perhaps

It’s very sad to hear that you left the university of Madinah because of a few toxic brothers as many brothers dream to study there. The best thing would have been to study and graduate by avoiding the drama and using the toxicity and hatred as fuel to study harder. Also, you cannot fully blame other people for leaving Madinah. Seeking knowledge comes will come with great tests and trials especially when studying abroad and this is well known from the Salaf. And Allah Knows Best.

Seeking knowledge doesn't only have to be in Madinah - I haven't finished the podcast but I assume the brother is continuing his journey seeking knowledge, but avoiding the crowd that detracts from it for him

I do agree that knowledge can come with tests but perhaps mentally it was too much for him at that time. I do agree that university of madinah is a dream for many - it would be good to keep your head focused on capturing the blessings. But remember he dealt with a lot in his previous lifestyle too so mentally, we don't know how challenging the situation could have been for him. The environment may have become overwhelming. It sounds like he continued seeking knowledge in Egypt anyway, which is important as you're meant to be seeking ilm for Allah

You are right, but a toxic environment is very draining and time consuming. He went there to seek knowledge and not waste time listening to negativity, it’s best he goes somewhere more peaceful and focus on his studies.

@@alhomsiyyah Of course, he can study Islam anywhere in in the world that isn’t the issue. The brother said he went to Egypt and I assume he is studying with the brothers in dubai. The issue is leaving because of people you deem toxic or have done bad to you, as there will always be toxic people or people you don’t get on with almost anywhere you go whether it is work, study, family etc. which is why you must work on your intention and find ways to limit toxic negative people from your goals and aspirations. Also it is mentioned in the Hadith of Ibn Umar: The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, “The believer who mixes with people and is patient with their harm has a greater reward than the believer who does not mix with people, nor is patient with their harm.” Ibn Mājah 4032 Grade: Sahih (authentic) according to Al-Albani

As a woman, SO GLAD to hear get brothers talking about such matters that also happen amongst sisters night and day. But what’s really interesting, is how even as men, they let things slide when we always think of men as more pragmatic and clear in their intentions. But I have noticed that in some cultural background, like Dawah Man’s, there is almost a cowardice when it comes to dealing with issues head on from the start (I’m not calling him a coward in any way, shape or form) yet behind the backs of the disliked person/people, these communities usually gossip and backbite to the hilltop! Good to see these having a degree of self-awareness.

Being social is a skill. Do it long enough with a pure intention of "لا إله إلا الله" and you will realize no one is your friend except Allah ﷻ; Humans are inherently poor in all things: Wealth, Strength, Intellect, etc. While Allah ﷻ is the source of all such things and more, Exalted is He ﷻ. Never believe anyone is a true friend, for Allah ﷻ refutes that belief in-of-itself in numerous Ayat in the Great Quran. Your bestfriend will yearn to rid himself of punishment by throwing you into the hell-Fire on the Day of Judgment in place of himself, unlike the Most Loving, Allah ﷻ; Realize Allah's greatness ﷻ and you will see the insignificance of yourself, your parents, your wives, your children, your friends, your partners, and your enemies.

“Alhamdulillah You can learn the real sunnah now” can be interpreted in many ways. Many good ways. I was not present in the situation but in general I believe it can be interpreted in a good manner, For example “Alhamdulillah you can now learn the real sunnah (according to scholars in order to further benefit the people through your social media)”. We need to give people the benefit of the doubt, we are men ikhwan. Don’t let little things completely change your reality or your perception of individuals. We all are prone to mistakes and jealousy at times. I’d like to end with some verses, “To forgo is nearer to piety. And forget not kindness among yourselves.” “Kind words and forgiveness are better than charity followed by injury. And Allah is Self-Sufficient, Most Forbearing.” “None the less, forgive and forbear, until God shall make manifest His will: behold, God has the power to will anything”
@bmedic7162

I thought the same. We can't hold people to our interpretation of what they say. There needs to be overwhelming amount of good assumption in our dealings. Especially with people you don't know who have no reason to assume bad of, different places different character different ways of expression. Peoples' differences are vast we can't hold them to our world view.
