during Misha and Jensen’s panel at DCCON this year, Jensen said “Dean has a moment by himself where he prays to Cas and it’s a bit of a confession of why he feels the way he feels and why he’s treating Cas the way he’s treating him” in 15x09 and I’m NOT READY

I am really struggling to come up with a reason why though! Let's be honest it's unlikely to be a love confessions ( no matter how much we wish it so).... So what good reason is there, Cas has already sacrificed everything for them, if Dean doesn't love him then what does he care if Cas lives or dies! So what other than him not trusting Cas, and thinking he's a plant a spy of Chuck's could he have for being someone who has used Cas all these years. I am not trying to be mean I am genuinely trying to figure it out..... Any ideas?

@@annagenna10 Whether the writers ever actually go down the romantic route for Dean and Castiel or not, Dean still has a deep love for Castiel. You can interpret that as brotherly, friendly, romantic, etc. Castiel pulled Dean out of hell and has been a fixture in his life for the past decade, but he has also disappointed Dean on multiple occasions. I think we've seen, not only Cas, but also Sam, that when Dean feels betrayed/hurt/abandoned, he tends to act out and push people away. Cas didn't tell Dean about Jack and therefore felt like he broke his trust, and now he's reacting in the typical Dean way where he punishes Cas for it. I think the confession will be something along the lines of "I'm sorry I reacted the way I did. I was hurt, but I care about you and want you around." Does that make sense?

@@littlecoconutinc it does, but something is not sitting right for me is 'cas didn't tell Dean about Jack'. Would any of us, Dean and Sam included have seen Jack do that and run and tell the others. We seem to completely ( While I understand all the arguments for Dean's behaviour, which has not changed in years) when I look at how he has treated Cas I just ( yes I know he's been hard on Sam too) can't see it as caring as people say. Yeah Cas has screwed up more than once, but always for reasons of best intentions to try to stop/Save what Sam and Dean have done from being reversed. Does not justify it but it's understandable. Maybe Cas also walked away cause Dean outright was prepared to kill Cas's adopted son. Maybe Cas saw this as much of a betrayal as Dean sees Cas's/Jack/Mary. Think it just irritates me how the writers have made us focus on a perceived betrayal by Cas and completely ignore Cas being betrayed by Dean ( Jack in the box and attempted to kill Jack). Sorry this is waffled but I only hope all this is addressed for the air to be cleared, before they move forward or it'll just continue to make Cas and Dean's relationship as unhealthy, unbalanced and one similar to Dean being an abusive friend and Cas suffering Stockholm syndrome, allowing Dean to treat him how he does. ( Again this is looking at it from psychological abuse, in how the characters have been written, it such an unhealthy power dynamic it feels wrong). Sorry again for the waffle tangent at the end 😂

@@annagenna10 Oh no I totally see where you're coming from. I don't think it's logical or at all healthy lol, and that's kind of what I was trying to communicate with this video. We're always seeing Cas bending over backwards for Dean to make up for his mistakes, but the same is never done in return. As you pointed out Dean, has also massively screwed Cas over, but we never have a big apology moment from him. Hence, I'm GLAD Castiel walked away from him last episode and is finally deciding not to put up with the way Dean treats him. Hopefully, Dean will finally be forced to realize that he can't keep treating Cas like this, and his "confession" will be something along the lines of that.

Cas so doesn't deserve how Dean's been treating him! Not just now but all these years. He's acting as if he never screwed up and that in fact 'your problems always come first'! I hate the dynamic they have in their relationship rn not even adding the fact that it's unhealthy af! I really hope that Dean can recognize his behavior and that he gives Cas the biggest apology! I'm proud of Cas for walking away tho! P.S: This edit is absolutelly beautiful and You captured the emotions perfectly!

I think Deans reason for pushing away Cas is that he is conflicted about his feelings towards him. From Deans perspective Chuck sent Cas to him, bought Cas back from the dead and ‘wrote him in to their story’ perhaps Dean can’t be sure of his feelings because he thinks Chuck may have just made them up! That would explain why he is being so illogical as to blaming Cas for everything. It was him and Sam that gave Jack the soul sucking magic! He has made plenty of mistakes and Cas has only ever tried to help them.

Yeah, I agree! He’s really struggling with his loss of free will, and I think he’s assuming Cas is just another one of Chuck’s write ins. I think it’s easier for him to blame Cas for what happened to Jack and Mary. That being said, he handled it all terribly and needs to apologize to Cas, because he doesn’t deserve this.

The series has ended and i still feel sad for Cas. I don't think he ever really was made to feel fully accepted and loved and at home with the Winchesters. He gave and gave and gave.....right to the end.....without the same level of care back. I'm still mad at Dean (and I've always been a Dean girl) despite the reconciliation in purgatory. It seemed a bit weak-assed compared to the amount of abuse Cas put up with (let's not forget Dean/Sam did the wrong thing for the right reason just as many times as Cas). Maybe that's the point - Cas' love is angelic, it's pure and doesn't demand reciprocation - but I just don't feel like he ever found his space, any real peace or even contentment at any point. Which just makes me feel sad for him and angry at the writers. It wouldn't have taken much - even just telling him he had a home in the bunker always, no matter what, because he's family, would have been enough.
