Ella Fitzgerald is perhaps one of the great under rated vocalists in American history. It’s truly a shame nobody from today’s generation knows who she was. They are both pure American treasures.

Started my daughter in singing lessons about 10 yrs. Ago. Instructor started her off with jazz. Not POP! People would be like why is she singing 1940 music? I ask where else to start learning how to master and use talent to truly entertain! My family and myself feel fortunate to have been educated about this beautiful music and entertainers. And the time they entertained in.

My daughter is 22 now and I raised her listening to Ella, Frankie, Billie, Miles etc. She playes this music to her friends who didn’t have parents who loved this music. Get it together people! Teach your children the classics! My kids loved Lois Jordan for one. But I raised them on All old jazz and blues plus classical music such as Tchaikovsky. We also listened to alternative rock plus old rock. But what my kids loved was when we took them on our one and only infamous trip to Disney(that means we did it all vip) they sang along to old jazz like louis and sachamo! They loved this music and still do in their 20"s.. Music is a beautiful thing! Many trips after we always had a wonderful and deversive mix of music to listen too. I credit my mom for that!

I'm always amazed with the audio/microphone setup of these old television shows. They set it up, no need for hand-held mics, just overhead uni-directional mics for the singers. And I think for these Dean Martin shows, there was a live band performing with them. The music engineer mix it all together and it sounds as if it's pre-recorded.

Assuming what we see while he performs is "the real" Dean Martin, then he is the most accepting person of all people...he is gracious, respectful & an admirer of good talent; male or female, young or old, "new" in the limelight or a seasoned pro. I enjoy the way he can laugh at himself, those facial expressions (!) are a hoot, & his show within a show; his actions, are right on the mark - his comedic timing superb & natural, his heartfelt seriousness was enough to draw tears. What a marvelous combination of grit, humor & sensitivity.

Wow, how have I never seen this clip??? What the world needs now is a lot more Ms.Ella. Why has there never been a biopic about her? Maybe I should be asking who would have enough talent to play Ms. Ella and bring the class with which she projects? She always brings a smile to my heart....
