I dunno. Would a true gentleman cheat on his first wife, the mother of his children, then dump her after he became a star? She was a beautiful hometown girl. Then Dean did the same thing with wife/mother #2, Jeannie.

@@akrenwinkleSame could be said of Sinatra. They were great entertainers but hardly great men. Funny how putting on a tuxedo and smoking a cigarette defines someone as classy in the minds of some. They loved their children, but weren’t good fathers. They were progressive minded and able to empathize with people being mistreated, but were still selfish in many ways.
@akrenwinkle
@akrenwinkle 2 ай бұрын
@@markmontieth8815 Yes, it's odd, the things some people regard as "classy." Re Sinatra's empathetic ways, all you need to know is what Sinatra snarled at a Korean-American blackjack dealer when she stuck to the rules and didn't deal the way Frank wanted: "You don't like it, go back to China." His being drunk is no excuse. That's when people REALLY say what they mean.

Everyone is talking about how his voice and performance has depreciated here (in his age). Here's the thing about Dean Martin: He doesn't depreciate, you philistines! Old legends never die, they just get old and gain weight...not true about Dean Martin! His performance here merely demonstrates an added dimension to his character; depth. If you fail to understand that, you fail to understand Dean Martin himself. There will never be another Dean Martin, his combination of comedy, charisma, and unparalleled soul will not be seen again. I have now and forevermore will defend the legacy of this man. For those of you too damn dense to comprehend this notion, I issue genuine pity. However, any true believer in the norms and values of Dean Martin's philosophy will empathize with my insurgencies: Dean Martin will live on as long as we listen to his music and hear his jokes as long as they are available to us. To Dean himself, I would like to thank for the countless hours of music, and the many MANY laughs you inspired. You are a hero and an idol still. God bless your soul, and rein on, my friend.

I find him even more handsome here than he was when he was younger (and boy he was gorgeous). There's a truth and a softness in his face that add a new dimension to him and his singing. Here you can see and hear the man beyond the glamour, beyond the laughter that he could so easily draw form the audience, beyond his stage persona. And if his singing sounds slightly breathless, if his voice breaks from time to time, his talent takes the frailty and turns it into a soulful, heartfelt rendition. Thank you, Dean. Absolutely brilliant. That's what we call star quality. Deano had a unique way of delivering each song he ever sang. He always managed to bring you to that moment in your own life and you felt it all over again. Whether it was a great moment in your life or a heart breaking moment, Deano brought you there but you still felt you were in safe hands. @@dandoxey2824 (guest). Agree, Dan ! 😊 If someone came along now and sang in a similar way, he'd make a fortune, and please millions, like the old time stars did ! There's too much trashy , predictable, yelling, screaming, wailing , harsh sounding pop music now : just flip through the dozens of radio stations : most play " lowest common ( and I mean " common" !) denominator crap ! Wish we could have more melodious, nicely presented songs... My favourites were Andy Williams, Perry Como, Richard Chamberlain, Doris Day, Pat Boone, Jack Jones ( except when he " let rip " and started shouting !!!😊): JACK is still touring , I believe...😊. Sad that the writing talent doesn't seem to be there much any more....🤔. Thank Goodness for You Tube ! 🌷🤔🌷😊🌷

Yes he said Jeanne came with him on this trip. They was kinda getting back together. They never remarried but they was by each other side at the end. Jeanne was by Dean bedside when he die. Their love was there right to the end.

There's Dino with the smiling eyes! I met him on a couple of occasions. Unlike what most people thought (and he played the part of a party-goer/drinker very well) Dino was one of the first ones to leave the party and go home! Good guy, back in the days when music was real music and all of the Rat Pack guys had great voices! Most of all, they all had GREAT FUN on the stage when they performed. They played tricks on each other, just a lot of fun when they were around! Vegas has never been the same since the good old days! Nice memories.

@James Henderson B.S. -- you must be very young and naive. Didn't your parents ever tell you not to make accusations you can't prove? Or say nasty things or keep bad thoughts to yourself? When you grow up, you'll learn that if you can't say anything nice, don't say anything at all, and if you DON'T learn that, you WON'T get the chance to grow very old!! Watch your mouth, it could end your life early if you don't. Our world is getting more intolerant and violent and if you don't learn to be nice, your world could end sooner than you realize!

@James Henderson People who make a lot of money are ALWAYS being hounded to donate to this fund or that one -- for a TAX write-off, of course! They tell their accountants to make a donation and usually forget it! Look at the rich Hollywood "sheeple" who have been talked into donating a lot of money to the Scientology cult, and then regretted it when they learned all about that CONTROLLING cult! And then there's those who NEVER learn, they just leave it up to their bean counters to handle their money!

So. I am 66 now and remember Dean as my family gathered around the tv at night. Something young people today may not understand. His talent puts him the most elite of all entertainment performers. Comedy, acting, singing and he could ad lib better than anyone ever has at all of them. We loved you Dean hem. Just a true performer
