@@nealm6764She did truly get drunk (too drunk) according to one of her interviews. The faces were part of the script but she was much more effective because she was drunk. You can actually see her in a couple of places losing her balance, and that was definitely the alcohol but it ended up fitting in perfectly.

So, I was a total fan of this group. They were a different sound from everyone else. My stupid ass tried to sing it with my friend for the 8th grade Talent Show. My friend accidentally hit me in the lip with the microphone almost immediately after she hit attempted the soprano notes... so I was literally singing while my face was actively swelling up. It was a bad day. But no one made fun of us for failing...instead they wanted to know where they could get the song. This was a new genre of music at the time... welcome to the cusp of emo music.

Shakespears Sister got their name because of The Smiths's song called Shakespeare's Sister. However, when the band logo was created the guy who was in charge of making it accidentally dropped the last "e" on Shakespeare and with the passage of time the apostrophe was dropped. Siobhan Fahey, the founding member who plays the evil girl in this music video, thought it was better like that because it gave the name Shakespears Sister its own identity. Siobhan was a founding member of another famous band called Bananarama. She left the band in early 1988 and went on to form Shakespears Sister. At first it was just her but then Marcella Detroit, the other girl whose voice you loved so much, joined the band and Shakespears Sister became a duo. About Stay the song, this was their biggest hit. It stayed at #1 during 8 weeks in the U.K. and made it to #4 on Billboard's Hot 100. This is a rare occasion in which Marcella was doing lead vocals because most of the time it's Siobhan performing lead vocals. Siobhan at the time disliked this song saying it didn't really represent Shakespears Sister. About the video, Siobhan drank a whole bottle of vodka before shooting her scenes due to long waits in the set. This might have affected but in a good way her performance, he he. Shortly, they disbanded in not very amicable ways. Siobhan carried on with Shakespears Sister as a solo artist. However, back in 2019 they reunited after 27 years of not speaking to each other and released new material and also toured. This new material is worthy of checking out with songs like All the Queen's Horses and When She Finds You. Both have music videos if you would like to check them out.

I've seen Death twice, once when was half hour from dying as a 6 year old, and once as an adult! And I can tell you death comes in many forms, but not a beautiful looking goth woman in sequins!
