F150 Tailgate Step Cover Keeps Falling Off - How To Fix It

Ford needs to redesign that tailgate step so the inside edge of the tailgate runs past the top. Everything catches on that lip when pulling stuff out of the bed, and that’s why the clips break. So easy to fix, no idea why it hasn’t been fixed by now.

You get some black silicone and tape and then you put it all over it and push it in place and hold it down with tape for a couple of days and then it will never come off.

I installed as directed and everything worked well except that the button will not pop back up when I close the step and tailgate. Any ideas on this? Thank you.

the button may be in the wrong dieection. try flipping it around

I think Double side tape on different areas of that part will FIX your problem

I’m sorry but this did not resolve any problems. You just bought a new one and replaced it. I’ve done that twice now. I’m looking for a permanent fix. Misleading video.

Same here. Anything you drag across this…it just rips it off. Any solution? I never use the step…so thinking about finding the same color without the step inside.

Its not misleading its the truck itself. Ford was to cheap to make it out metal.

I actually really hate this design by Ford. Your foot catches this piece of trim every time you step down. ive nearly ripped it off every time I use the step.

The button neever works when I put a new one on

make sure the button is ligned up prperly with the slots and put a little grease

Also make sure that the button is properly aligned within the plastic holder. it's meant to go in only one way. @@DeaninItYourself
