He who never listened to metal or even tech death.. But when I showed him your band and especially you I could tell that he understood immediately what makes me love your band so much... He understood faar beyond his own taste.. And I loved this Aspekt of him. It made me wanna understand way more things than I was into... To our dads! Greetings from Germany. Stay save!

Man when you started playing and it hit me that you took the time to learn all of the layers of that video game song it damn near brought me to tears. I was not ready for this video. I loved every second of it though. My Dad is in his 70's but still going very strong. He helped me build a crazy guitar collection from a young age that I most definitely didn't deserve to have and always supported everything I do. I can't imagine the pain of losing him. I'm sorry for your loss, Dean. He sounded like he was one hell of a guy. He would be so proud of the career you've made and the talent that you've showed the world. Keep doing what you're doing, and you know he's smiling right along with you! Much love and respect

Dean you are inspirational to me as a guitar player. My dad was an alcoholic growing up and thankfully has been 11 years sober. I’m now 30 and have 3 little boys of my own, my first being when I was 21 and my dad and I never got along because of how he was as I grew up. Sure I have some great memories laying on his chest watching bravos and butthead as he would collapse from stumbling in drunk, but a good memory of me and him nonetheless because I was with him. When my first was born he was so excited and different, and me being an ass I told him (still bitter about my teenage years) I promise I’ll never be like you were to my son, I will stay sober and I’ll be there for him always. My dad smiled and said good, I’m gonna hold you to that as long as I live. I cried. The man I was still bitter towards admitted his past mistakes and found peace with the fact he failed in one aspect or another, but it was a win for him to know that I knew better than he was because he gave me an example of what not to be. We are now best of friends and he even plays guitar with me. Because of your video I will tell him how much I love him and how thankful I am to still have him around. Thanks for sharing dean, your dad sounds like he was an awesome guy and I will forever be thankful for this one video. Hope you read this to know my appreciation for you and Archspire as a whole. 🤘🏻 for you and and everyone else that has or had a rockin ass dad!!

Thanks for sharing this story Dean. I have some similar stories about playing Super Mario World and Battletoads, watching Fellowship of the Rings in the theater, etc. but with my mom. I know what you mean about seeing a parent as strong, sometimes invincible, when you're young but seeing them get more frail as you both get older. My mother just had a (hopefully her last) bypass surgery and I've been blessed to be in a place in my life where I can be there to support her while she regains her strength and transitions back to who she was. It's great to reflect back on some of the early memories, both good and bad, that we've had to see how we've shaped into who we are today.

Oh man what a tribute! I too lost my father who was diagnosed with early dementia but then died of a stroke last year. I remember when I was like 12 he bought me my first guitar and a tape of yngwie malmsteen, he certainly influenced my love for music and the outdoors. Was fun showing him modern tech death and all the modern insane heavy shit that exists today he dug some of it also. To say this was a touching video would be an understatement, and reading through the comments with the outpour of people sharing their own experiences and how this video touched them is heartwarming. I'm not an exception, my father had a stroke 10 years ago that left him with brain damage and memory loss, and actually changed his personality quite a bit. He lives with 24 hour nurse care and can't do nearly anything he used to. I struggle when I see him because he's so different, and even after 10 years I can't get used to the fact that my father is gone but still here. I totally relate with the escapism to try and not think about the situation, and your video along with all the positive comments really has me thinking about my situation with dad and how much I love and am afraid to inevitably lose him. "I wasn't always there for him, but he knew I loved him" is such an important sentiment that's resonated with me and so many others here. Sorry for the wall of text, but Thank you so much for making this video Dean, and thank you everyone commenting with support and sharing their own relationships with their dad, It's a huge help.

Thank you for sharing this Dean. My grandfather is going through the later stages of Alzheimer's and it is heartbreaking seeing somone who've known since you were born deteriorate into something that doesn't even resemble the person you once knew. Sometimes we talk about his favourite music and the time he spent in Germany serving for the Army and we still occasionally play guitar together. Even though we play drastically different from each other it is so amazing and enjoyable to see his eyes light up when we play. It's like he becomes a completely different person and it is something I will never forget. I try to visit him as often as I can but it is honestly very hard because sometimes he catches himself repeating the same questions. Again thank you for sharing this amazing memory and story with us Dean and keep in mind that your father is always with you.

Dean, I sincerely believe that your Dad would be proud of you. Not just for what you've accomplished, but he'd be proud his son for marrying such a kick-ass woman like Claire! Because, above everything else, I believe that he would want his son to be happy. Thank you for sharing this story with all of us, Brother..Hope you and yours are well, take care.

Thank you for sharing something so personal. Was a very touching and beautiful video. My father passed away suddenly almost 2 years ago and I miss him every day. Metal was and is still very much a part of my healing process. Your father will be proud of you.

This hit hard Dean. Thank you for sharing your tribute to your father, was suppose to see my father this weekend but could not because of covid and having to be quarantined for two weeks when he got back. Unfortunately, you can't go two weeks without in the state of California (too expensive). But again, thank you Dean.

My father got me into both video games and guitars as well. My intro game was Phantasy Star 1 for the Sega Master System, another RPG. I have such a fondness towards that game knowing it was the game "dad got me into." Now I have a son that's around the same age as I was, 5, and he's starting to play games with me. All I can hope is he too remembers the good times with dad.

May he forever rest in peace in heaven, safe and happy with God. Such a touching tribute. I understand the part about Alzheimer's as my grandmother had a really advanced version of it when I was in grade 6, and it was painful to visit because I never knew who she really was, because all the time I spent with her was when she was afflicted with dementia. I wish I had known her when she was unaffected.

My heart goes out to you Dean. I'm sincerely sorry for you loss. My grandma got Alzheimer's when I was around the same age. Watching her transform was very tragic and I'll never forget it. Keep on rocking bro and always look to the good times. Cheers man
