I lost my dad a year ago, gosh I miss him terribly.. he was my bestfriend, we video chatted every single day. i didn’t get to say goodbye to him while he was alive. My mom called me on a Friday night and told me to come home, dad has no pulse, EMT was working on him. he had just got done eating dinner and about 30mins later he took his last breath while laying down relaxing. He had been battling kidney failure for the last 5 years. He passed away suddenly & unexpectedly and I lived 15hours away from him. I had no time to get there to say goodbye. But I wasn’t prepared to say goodbye to him while he was alive. I had to do it before his cremation.. I sing this song everyday, as loud as I can, it has helped me tremendously through my grieving process. It made me feel like I wasn’t alone.. thank you Dean Lewis. 🤍

Thank you for this beautiful song. You will probably never see this, but thanks for a beautiful song that has helped me through a rough time. My husband's cousin and I share the same birthday June 22nd., 3 days before Our birthday, on the 19th of June. My husband's brother died unexpectedly. Which was very hard. Then four months later to the day, October 19th. I was woke up by my husband saying he couldn't breathe, and he died of a heart attack right before my eyes as I was on the phone with 911. To to make matters worse, our beloved dog crossed the rainbow bridge just one week after my husband died. On October 19th. 2023., it will be 2 years for the passing on my husband. It is literally a struggle every day. I am a Christian, but I still struggle every day. I know he is with God, but my heart is still completely broken, and I can't wait to be with him again.

I grew up as one of a best friend group of five. We all lived in the same neighborhood, but even when we moved we stayed just as tight. We lost the first one when most of us were 17, she was seventeen, two of us were 18. By 30 I was the only one left. These past few years have been the hardest I’ve ever known. When I left for the Army I remember my besties being afraid I wouldn’t come back, we were fresh off of one loss, a violent, traumatic one, and all of us were struggling. I never expected to be here today, alone. Losing the people I loved my whole life, one by one, until I was the only one left. I fought with the first one to pass the night before it happened, I passed her house that morning, still angry, and thought they were having a bonfire. It wasn’t a bonfire. Her boyfriend had beaten her very badly, and, being afraid of the consequences, he set the house on fire after turning all the locks around. Her mother and 11 year old sister seen the flames and stopped. At first he said she wasn’t in there, that she got out but he didn’t know where she went. Then she started screaming from inside. The flames were too intense. No one could get to her. I don’t have the strength right now to recount how I lost each one after, how such beautiful lights in this world went out for the final time. I’ve been alone almost five years by now, but some days it feels so raw and new, even still. Don’t go to sleep angry with each other, tomorrow is promised to no one.
