My Mom loved Dean so much. Every time this show came on she watched and that meant I did too though I wasn't allowed until probably 68 or so. Even as a young boy I thought Dean was funny and likable. I didn't care much then for the music of that generation, being madly in love with 60's rock but many years later I came back to Frankie and Dean and now I just love it! I just got Deana Martin book about her dad call memories are made of these. It a great book if you want to understand more about her dad and his life. Only read 82 pages today and it had me laughing and crying and glad I grew up in my family. He once made a comment on his roast that "This business is not always easy". After reading the book today I understand what he meant. Made me love him and his family even more ... For sharing their dad and husband with the whole world. I realize how much his family have gone though so Dean could entertain all of us even now. It a must read book for any of Dean Martin fan.

@@thomasnorman9536 "Houston," written by Lee Hazlewood, was originally recorded by country singer, Sanford Clark in 1964. As this show aired in September (and likely taped a couple weeks prior), Dino showcased "Houston" on the show right when the single was on the charts.

"The Dean Martin Show" was broadcast in color. This a b&w 16mm kinescope film. In that era it was a practice to create a film copy for NBC network affiliates that did not carry the original feed due to other programming. They would get permission to air the show on a delay, a different day and time. NBC would ship a 16mm black and white film print of the original color taping for the local TV station to broadcast. I used to work for an ABC station in Shreveport, LA and a show that we delayed to another day and time was ABC's "Iron Horse" which ABC broadcast Sunday nights in color. We ran it the following Saturday at 5pm in the afternoon using a 16mm black and white print that ABC shipped to the station. Bottom line is, all of the Dean Martin variety hour shows beginning with the very first 1965 show were broadcast in color on NBC.

These old guys who learned it the hard way in the casinos are the best. There is no way you can repeat that today.

Thanks for posting this; my late mom was with the show for its entire run, and then into the comedy roasts that succeeded the weekly series. She’s even listed In the end credits Of this episode as “Production Assistant”, and worked her way up to become Director-Producer Greg Garrison’s assistant. It’s very cool to see her name saved in perpetuity on YT.

Your mother lived in America's best and most grand days. Sadly, we are in a very steep decline and only a move of God can bring us back from the cliff. Thanks for sharing this about your dear Mom....

We have to make the move, NOT GOD! Having great entertainment is one of the secondary benefits of being a GODLY nation. What is our entertainment like now? Case closed! Richard from Alabama (ROLL TIDE!!!!!)

I was just a little kid when "Julia" was on teevee.....Always thought she was 'just an actress'....I had NO idea Diahann Carroll could sing like that. Just phenomenal.

Great days, the days of Great talent. If they show every single show on here, you will see how they made changes here and there. Things that didn’t work were dropped, things were added, till they got the right combination and boy, did they find it in a short time. 😎

What a gang of stars in one place, and show me a classy black gal like Diane Carrol today, what charisma and what a set of pipes. There was so much talent back then, now that ive gotten older I find more talent in these old shows on YT than anything on TV.
