Hahahaha you are ridiculous!! HE HAD LEFT JEANNE. HE WANTED TO DIVORCE HER by filing for divorce on Valentine's Day!! He had ALWAYS cheated on her (as he had always cheated on Betty his first wife whom he had left for Jeanne. And Betty was expecting their fourth child!). He was already engaged to a 22-year-old girl who he left after a few months (without telling her anything) to get engaged to his third wife! THREE WEDDINGS - THREE DIVORCES WANTED BY HIM! And many other women, all and always much younger than him. Stop venerate him as a saint because Dean Martin was no saint at all! And when he sang this song he had already asked Jeanne for a divorce!

Hands that are strong but wrinkled Doing work that never gets done Hair that's lost some of its beauty By too many hours in the sun Eyes that show some disappointment And there's been quite a lot in my life She's the foundation I lean on My woman, my woman, my wife Everyday has been uphill We climb but we can't reach the top I'm weak and I'm easily discouraged She just smiles when I wanna stop Lips that are weary but tender With love that strengthens my life Saint in a dress made of gingham My woman, my woman, my wife Two little babies were born in the spring But died when the winter was new I lost control in my mind and my soul But my woman's faith carried us through When she reaches that river Lord, you know what she's worth Give her that mansion up yonder 'Cause she's been through hell here on earth Lord, give her my share of Heaven If I've earned any here in this life 'Cause God, I believe she deserves it My woman, my woman, my wife My woman, my woman, my wife

And of course, Dean did it with a Marty Robbins self-penned song. Hell, Elvis best performance songs, You Gave Me a Mountain, was another self-penned Marty song. Pure genius.

I THINK it was told on TheKing of Cool that he was singing this song to his wife Jeanne. Just look at his face all during the song….the love in his face. Then look at his eyes at the very end…..eyes of sadness.

Wow, I wish my husband love me like Dean Martin is pouring his heart out to his women his wife in this song. The first time I ever heard this song by chance just had to have the LP since it's not on CD, found a used LP in good condition and lady luck gave me a turntable for Christmas. I will be 70 years old on my next birthday this is an early gift to me. Sing the song You owned it !!!!.

A little humor is never out of place in entertainment, but, this is what Dean needed to do far more often. Finally, Dean sings a song from the first bar to the last, without any schtick or comic interruption whether it was Frank's, Sammy's, Jerry's from the sideline or most often his own! The man needed to get out of his own way and do exactly what we all know he did in the recording studio, just let his own natural instrument, and talent flow through the lyrics.

Marty used a lot schtick when he sang. And yes, he was much more talented than Dean. Marty was one of the greatest singer/songwriters of our time. A pure genius.
