The wooden lid is really nice the wood you used is awesome I love the pinky colour. I like the little handle you put on the lid to finish it of. The video has given us ideas for our woodturning thank you

Great Demo Dean, I like the sanding stick for multiple grit sandpapers, was asked to do a demo at my local craft fair in November, will be using something like this with a magnet so it attaches to my lathe for my sandpaper as well as having stacks of multiple grits on hand... Thanks for the Tip it is just what I was looking for. Nice finish as always...

I've done many of these and people love them. Ron Brown has an excellent video on making them for Mason Jars. I use Aleene's Tacky Glue because it remains slightly flexible. Obviously, lids can't go in freezer, microwave, oven, or dishwasher. I always go out of my way to caution people about this and they still come back broken.

Is your dust respirator a Trend
@DeansWoodworking Жыл бұрын
Paul I do have a trend but the one that I use and the one in the video is a 3m Versaflo hood. I have a video where I made an air supply from a room air cleaner with a hepa filter.

@@DeansWoodworking versaflo very nice up here in canada very expensive

I just bought the hood and made my own air supply not as much as you would think.

That's a COOL project. I've gotten a few different types of wood from pallets but never anything this nice. Oh Yeah...Thanks for telling us about "Worldwide Woodturners" I enjoyed it, even though I got in about halfway. See you Wednesday night, after Choir practice.

Great project. Really like the shape. Nice finish too. 👍👍One thing I would like would be for you to show the finished piece at the beginning of the video. Then I could see where you were going as you progress with the turning. Thank you for sharing. Take care and have a great day. 🙂🙂

Great lid cover. Never would have thought about a knob on top, but I think it’s a nice addition. Nice and elegant. Love what you’ve done with this. To my way of thinking, that E600 is the best choice for this project. Wood, I’m going to guess Red or Purple Heart. Both will age to brown that cannot be brought back.

Thanks Doug!

I have read if put in sunlight the red will come back in purple heart.

I've been making these for more thn 8 years, using pint mason jars. You'd be amazed at how many different types of finials you can come up with!. I use E6000 initially, but found it to be somewhat brittle, and have switch to using silicone window sealer as a glue. I charge $15 at the local consignment shop. I use stickers from a local wood shop to make these, and never know what kind of wood they are...small world.
