I'm 62 now, I grew up with my dad's craftsman wood lathe, and all the fix'ins. Brought it up here to Northern California, and built a garage, with 220 to accommodate it, but lost the Home in the '09 crash.... the lathe still sits up in the attic, waiting for some kind of re-birth.

Another utility piece from Dean's shop. I like the utility pieces. I don't sell but they are great gifts. 👍👍 The jam chuck is a great idea too. I think I could do something like it for my vacuum system. Thank you for sharing. Have a great day and continue to stay safe. 🙂🙂

Unbelievable command of that skew chisel. I always end up shooting myself in the foot when using that tool.

I don't care how tight that fit is, I'm adding tape to keep that on the chuck

That's a cool scoop. I like practical pieces, that look good but work, as well. That would certainly look better than that little plastic scoop in my coffee container. What finish would you recommend, for using in coffee?

Dean, when your recess is just a little tighter than you like, hit it with sandpaper rather than the hollowing tool.

I cheated. I did mine before seeing your demo here and the other one where you make soft jaws instead of the jam chuck so I just used a kit from Rockler and drilled my 1/4 hole and used a scrap of cherry and mom liked it a lot.

Sounds like you did fine, I do the kits too, they are a lot faster. Thanks for Watching!!!
