Very disappointed at the mounds of vegans/vegetarians having a go at Tom for changing his lifestyle and eating meat again. It his own body and his own life and he should be able to switch and choose between anything he wants without having to face a backlash like this. Phrases like "I don't see how Tom could justify eating meat again" are just out of line. It's not for you to figure out how he could justify it. It shouldn't NEED justifying. It's just food. Everyone is entitled to eat or not eat whatever they please :) (sidenote: this isn't an attack on anyone and not all the comments I've seen have been negative, this is just aimed at the people who are reacting negatively to something that, quite frankly, is none of their business)

The reason the vegans and vegetarians are upset is because they educated themselves on what happens to the livestock of the meat, egg and dairy industry. So when someone converts from being vegan/ vegetarian and goes back to eating meat then they are actively, once again, contributing to animal suffering by supporting the industry through buying those products. There's also the environmental impact associated with the meat industry - which you can learn about in the other comments xxx

Gryffindors Phoenix Well actually, being a vegetarian/vegan and not lacking any important nutrition in your diet is difficult. Maybe you are not conscious of it, but try and get a full blood test done and you'll see for yourself. As someone having a genetic auto-immune disease and having been vegetarian, I had to start eating fish and meat again because it had a terrible effect on my health. As far as animal cruelty goes, except if you live in a part of the US which is not rural, you should be able to find organic farmers cooperatives which are much smaller farms with lots of respect for animal lives. I buy all my meat, dairy and pretty much everything actually in one such co-op and I actually know where my food comes from. Also, coming from a family of farmers, I know first place the love and care they have for their animals, so do not believe that, because the meat industry in america is incredibly barbaric, every farmer or member of the meat industry is the same. It isn't, far from it!

Noannelle Sky Have a look at totally raw christina. She has a completely raw vegan diet and had a full blood screen which she filmed with her doctor. She was far healthier than a meat eater! Yes being veggie / vegan / raw takes a bit more thinking about, it's not as easy to eat junk and meals have to be planned but once you get in the habit and away from the convenience lifestyle it is so much better for you!

lianne Satterthwaite Once again judging without knowing... I barely ever eat processed food, all my food is natural and organic and I cook it all myself, from scratch! And what I can't make mysef (mostly for lack of time or equipment like bread, humus,...) I get from friends who make them from scratch. So I actually eat extremely healthy. Second: meat eaters that are unhealthy are that way because of excess: being excessive in one way or another is always harmful. Eating a lot of meat (especially red meat) is indeed harmful. I only eat fish, seafood and white meat and I eat it 3 times a week at most since it is the amount the human body actually needs it. Thirdly, their are many components that are found only in meat and or dairy (eg: vitamin B12) which are necessary for your body to function. Sure you can take tons of unnatural lab-made complements but that's not really my jam... Then, I'd like to point out that it is possibly to eat meat from animals that were treated extremely well their whole lives, up until their were killed. And finally, in my specific case, I have an autoimmune genetic disease which pretty much already makes it difficult to not have a defiency in some nutrients (for example iron) and not eating meat made it absolutely impossible without supplements and that made me feel completely rubbish a,d exhausted all the time which is simply not a way to live. So in short: do whatever makes you happy/healthy and let others do the same without being judgemental (especially if you don't know the person.).

One person not eating meat isn't going to change the way animals are treated when they're slaughted. I am a vegetarian myself and I have no problem if people eat meat it's a personal choice and it affects your body so it's your choice. As long as people are educated on the cruelty that happens that all I need, to know what those animals are going through. For all those attacking Tom for his choice you have no right, it's his choice what he consumes not yours.

I've been a vegetarian for going on four years now, so maybe I'm not as 'dedicated' as others. Does it upset me when people eat meat, or when vegans/vegetarians go back to eating meat? No. Should it? No. It's their body, their life. If it makes them happy, then great! I completely understand why you would go back to eating meat to be honest! When you know what you're missing out on, vegetarian/vegan food can sometimes (sometimes!) be rather dull and yes okay, vegetarian alternatives are nice but there are some mornings where a quorn sausage doesn't quite cut the mustard. I'm a vegan and I don't believe in shaming other people for their dietary choices. If you really want people to change the way to go about this is not by abusing/shaming them. Ultimately it is up to the individual which choices they make and they should not be made to feel pressured. I firmly believe that every step counts, so even if it is just switching to free range meat, or perhaps being vegetarian for just one day a week, every small bit counts towards a wider reduction in the meat industry. Ultimately, as with any sort of change, one's heart must be in it or it is not going to be sustainable. There is no point making yourself unhappy because you feel pressured to sustain a choice you don't fully believe in.

To add to the discussion about dietary choices, some people develop health issues that make vegan or vegetarian lifestyles very difficult. I am NOT saying that a vegan or vegetarian lifestyle is unattainable for those people or unhealthy in any way, but that is another consideration people should have before commenting on the ethics of certain diets. I love the farmer's market! You seem to spend a lot of quality time with Gi and Buzz when you aren't working and that's really sweet. As for the meat thing, I am a meat eater who is 'exploring' the possibility of vegetarianism/veganism and I am mildly curious why you chose to be vegan and now you have chosen to switch back. Is it just a personal preference thing (I miss meat) or was there something related to the diet that was problematic? I was thinking maybe it was hard to maintain your energy levels when performing and with the tour coming up you decided it wouldn't be compatible. I am just trying to get a lot of perspectives from people who have done both and see what their experiences were like. Did Gi decide to do the same? You gotta do what works for you, and if that's tucking into turkey go for it! :)

I try to make better choices with my eating habits, I choose some more vegan options but some I don't agree with, like margarine for example, I do choose free range, grass feed, no hormones meats and non gmo foods and I try to eat nothing processed. I have a great Gluten free vegan chocolate cupcake recipe I have been meaning to send to Gi on her website, it is so yummy, no one knows it is GF or vegan. I'm vegeterian and I think every person should decide on their own whether they want to eat meat or not. I decided for myself that I wouldn't be able to live with myself if animals had to die for me (that was 8 years ago, when I was just 10 years old) but I accept that not everybody thinks of it the same way I do. It's the way it it, I guess. I can't make people stop eating meat and they can't make me eat it again. So it's all good. Stop fighting and being mean to Tom for deciding for himself. Tom you eat what you want. I dont eat red meat or chicken because I have gone off it .I am still eating fish and shelfish as I like the taste .but I dont preach to any one about it I just dont eat beef pork lamb or chicken in any form because thats my choice. Some people can't go vegan or vegetarian. Billie Joe Armstrong of green day , who did go vegetarian, couldn't because it caused him to have rapid weight loss.

The fact that you've changed your diet again is fine by me, if you want to eat meat that's fine (I do- I love it to much to give it up). I was just wondering why you decided to change back? It would be very interesting to know!

Everyone needs to stop freaking out at Mr. Fletcher about his life decisions. He can do what he wants and he doesn't need you to force your lifestyles and rudely state your opinions on his life. It's HIS life, not yours. So shut up and let him live the way he wants to and the way he feels is best for him.

Just to make it clear, I'm not attacking anyone (Tom included) on what they choose to eat, it's completely unfair to target individuals. However (in my opinion) meat eaters and vegetarians/vegans alike should be aware of the facts about how farm animals are really treated - I urge you to look them up. If we make enough noise about how disgusting we find cruelty to animals, farmers will be forced to change their systems, and wouldn't that be great? Knowing that the meat you're eating has had the best, most natural life possible - and death is a natural part of life, so you wouldn't need to feel guilty about not wasting the meat of a dead animal. Just my opinion.

Tom I knw how hard vegan deit is I have no choice in the matter due to having a condition with is called Pku I Cnt have protein which in a way makes me vegan it's hard trying to put on weight and I need to put it on due to another condition called cystic fibrosis which in need the weight to fight infections in my body.. Well done for lasting as long as u did and tell Gi her books are amazing too. Eating meat is ur choice and I think no one should be made at u cuz u give the diet a ago and in my eyes u get 100% positive feedback from me xx p's love watching ur videos and going to ur tour in Belfast in apirl 22 next year after seeing u last year on the second last show of the tour.. I won the vip tickets in the tin but didn't realise until I got home :-( but all in all I wouldn't of been able to stand for long due to my conditions still mcbusted are amazing and iv always wanted u both bands to join xx send my love to u and the band and Gi n buzz of course x merry Christmas to the fletchers and hope buzz has an amazing first Christmas xxxx

Do you mind if I ask you how you're able to manage the protein-related condition while having CF (because of the weight thing, like you mentioned)? I imagine there'd be a lot of extra calorie supplements. Sorry, I'm just curious because CF runs in my family, and I understand if you'd rather not share with a stranger on the internet.

It's fine I take extra formula and eat more regularly it's hard to get full tho but if I don't eat as much o do get dizzy sick and faint or my body gets to tired to fight infections I dnt mind sharing info with people I'm open abt my illness and I never let it put me down

I always find myself living by the idea that if you have a beliefs then thats ok for you to practice them but it is completely disrespectful to force those beliefs onto other people...he doesn't have to justify his decision to anyone
