I can't speak for the crowd as I wasn't there and I don't really know the venue or extent of the event, but often when an event like this is going to be recorded, they ask the audience to refrain from unnecessary noise so as to not muddy the audio quality. Particularly in such a small, enclosed space where the effect is even more noticeable. Again, I have very little knowledge of this particular event, but I'm more willing to believe the crowd acted that way out of respect for the cast than boredom.

I only came to DEH recently (I moved out West to be with family and lost the vibrant traveling shows I had seen back East). Once I found it. . .i added ‘DEH Road Show’ to my bucket list. . .unfortunately. . .7 years away from live theater was like a lifetime. . .tkts for the SLC roadshow are $200-$520. . .way out of my range. . .so I rely on KZbin. . .and performances like this. To me. . .the seemingly bored audience and what appears to be a lackadaisical response is absolutely offensive to me. . .I’m hoping that it was just a fault of camera and sound that mad3 the audience in the video look as though they were late to an appointment anywhere but there.

The sheet music also doesnt include about 99% of the runs all of the Evan's use, but they do them anyways which is just fine as well. I just dont like Taylor's vocal style.

Sorry. This Broadway cast performance has a certain glassiness or brittleness to it that other performances on KZbin don't exhibit. Maybe it is the arrogance of being the Broadway cast--the luxury of singing a serious song and laughing among yourselves while you waiting to delivery your lines? Not sure but while the music remains glorious somehow the actual emotional output of the singers isn't what you would expect or hope for. Compare this performance to what the Welsh boys can do, and there is no comparison. I love Broadway and that's why I say this: this is subpar and fits no one's expectations of what a New York Broadway cast can do. You guys can do better so please start doing it otherwise we'll be London soon.

I have yet to see the show or any Broadway show so my knowledge is limited to facts and the Broadway cast recordings but I'd like to believe the mother is possibly supposed to be the contrast to Evan's mother as in perspective Evan is to Connor .
