Me and my son have a channel together, and we struggle to hit over 200 views, our two biggest videos (both 8k views) are because we got them out before all the big channels. We were the first to review Magmatron and second to review Tidalwave. We did a Sandstorm review on Friday and that is struggling to hit 150 views. Thew is brilliant, but he already has the fanbase, those of us just wanting to get into it don't have said luxury. Especially with PrimevsPrime and others who manage to get them even earlier.

The Walmart closest to me just got the somehow oddly aesthetically consistent Cybertronian Lambro wave of Studio Series Deluxes. Everywhere else is still trying to flush out Rise of the Beasts leftovers, Legacy year 1 and Evolution releases, and whatever EarthSpark junk hasn’t sold. Heck, after spending a whole year of Rhinox not budging, a bigger Walmart near me just put leftover stock of mainline Primal and Prime.

Funny thing to mention videogames, because one of my big annoyances was (repeatedly) trying to pick up a game on release day only to find no stores actually had it in stock, until you find the one store that had 20+ copies. Gamestop seemed particularly bad for only shipping local stores enough copies to cover pre-orders, if even that much, and then shipping the rest of the order days later. And though it was only a few days, you of course had stores breaking ship dates to sell early (or employees picking up a copy early).

My e-mails aren't stretched like that. And I got a notification on Vector Prime, the Breakdown/Windsweeper, and the Barrage/Chop Shop as well as the Party Wagon and Bumblebee from BBTS. No idea where the rest are. And it especially sucks because my Fraggles are finally coming. But yeah, it's hard to keep up on these when they jump release dates. I'm still trying to get Skyquake, Dreadwing, Devcon, and several others from a period where I wasn't getting paid. The other problem with release dates - and admittedly this has only happened a relative few times - is when they announce a figure after it's already sold out because their retail partners do not give a s***. The flat out DISRESPECT Walmart showed to DC when they kicked off this big initiative to put key comics in stores was actually infuriating. DC did everything right (which is a first) but Walmart repeatedly just ignored everything they tried to do to keep comic shops from getting bogged under by Walmart's prices and flagrant disregard for release dates. Adding onto this, the Calcitron three pack is just absolutely getting on my nerves.

It’s always one month of the year where they drop everything too soon and at once. I will say one thing about Walmart preorders is that they take their money upfront. I am glad that today that I got three emails that some items were being pushed back a month. Not mad at all lol

I understand the frustration you are having. On the other hand don't spend money you don't have. I mean credit cards can be useful and great but you have to realize the money will come out at some point. If it is early it is early. You just have to count on that the money comes out right when you preorder it. I remember back when stores use to charge at the time of preorder. My problem with Hasbro release dates is when stuff keeps getting pushed back or vendors are told a certain date and they would get a certain amount at a certain then over a year passes for customers and they still have a Devcon sitting in their preorder (looking at BBTS). Yea I ended up canceling my Devcon preorder and getting it from a fellow collector who got one and had to get rid of it. Anyways, late release dates are what frustrating to me because it seems sometimes the preorders just won't be fulfilled. My Blaster was the same way because when they sent it to BBTS it wasn't in different packaging, it was a package refresh but not in same package. It was Kingdom Blaster I had preordered but when BBTS got it the toy was under the Legacy line so my preordered bugged out. Anyways yea super late preorders really suck. I am still waiting for Gears as well. With that said, if you are using these toys for review purposes can't you somewhat count these toys as a business expense? So it won't be so bad at IRS time? Anyways, I know you are doing the daily video thing and I know preorder dates are frustrating, but this seems like a small thing to complain about. I mean it is better to get it early than not at all? I know this comment may be seen as rude and set some people off but from my experience people who are complaining about early preorders are people who have spent money they don't have yet and are counting on the preorder being later and them having the money later. To me that is super risky in general. A person may lose their job, may have a million things happen before the preorder is fulfilled or the preorder may come out early. The only way to fix this issue is to have preorders charge at time of preorder and then do everything possible to have the preorder arrive by the date, maybe earlier. The issue with charging at time of preorder is that the toy may never come out thus a refund would need to be issues and the vendor has to eat the credit card fee for card processing. I do not see this as Hasbro screwing people out of their budget but more so people aren't budgeting properly. Do not spend money you don't have. It seems like, please excuse the phrase but as my 15 year old daughter told a friend in first great who got in trouble and was complaining about it, "this is a you problem not a me problem". I am sure Hasbro sees it this way. If people can't afford something after they preordered it then it shouldn't have been preordered in the first place. People are screwing up their own budgets. Assume you do not have the money after you preorder. Don't count on still having it. Effectively at some point that amount of money will be taken from your budget. This whole issue is, oh that preorder isn't my problem it is future me's problem. I know I am rambling a little but this is something I have seen a lot of talking about online and even among friends. I personally have a yearly toy budget. I put my toys on one credit card and that is my budget for the year for toys, the same tend to go to video games. I can' not spend more than that budget. I try to pay it off yearly at income tax time. When I preorder something though I count that money as already taken out of the toy budget. Dude I do love your content. If you are fine as you said, I do not see the reason to make a video about it. If you are not fine, just don't go to the convention or is the convention a business expense trip due to you being a content creator? Do you go as a vendor, panelist, or just a fan? I've been having the exact opposite problem... and by the way my local Wal Mart has had empty shelves for MONTHS at a time. I've seen entire toy lines never even make it to shelves here cause Wal Mart just doesn't order the stock and sits on the same stuff for over half a year. I still have not seen Rise of the Beasts Optimus Primal. I picked up Nightshade at a different store out of town because my Wal Mart wasn't stalking them and they only just started showing up here in May of this year when I picked up mine in December like 2 years ago? The reissue of Ectotron which was suppose to release along side the new movie and I preordered mine when I went to go see Frozen Empire. I've been given FOUR different release dates since I placed the pre-order and it keeps getting pushed back. Every time I go in to pick it up thinking it should be in already I get there and they tell me a new release date for the figure. I actually forgot to even ask for release date when I originally placed my order and just went back about a week or 2 later. Got told that'll be out in May. I went back in May, they gave me a new release date closer to the end of May. Went in again then they tell me June. At this point to save myself I trip I look it up online, June 16 the day I was told it would be available I search and the release date just says TBD, they didn't even have a actual date available. I looked again a couple days later and saw it had been changed to a September release. At one point I went into Game Stop just because I happen to be in the area anyway... they finally got the figure in the warehouse it just hasn't made it into the store yet. I still have not gotten a figure that I was expecting to already have in my hands three times. I don't blame the workers at Game Stop because I know they don't have any control over when the figure gets to the store. The error seems to be at Hasbro's end cause they took forever to even ship it out and don't have any reliable or consistent release date. I missed out on Ectotron the first time around because I didn't realize I needed to preorder it. Maybe the larger stores might actually carry the figues on shelves so you can just walk in and pick one up but my local Game Stop is so small they pretty much only order figures if there's already a pre-order from a customer because they don't have the space to just buy a bunch of figures and hope customers buy them. So when I found out it was being released I had to jump on that Preorder so I didn't miss out... again. I also want to get Party Wallop and no I'm not getting 4 because I'm not spending $200 on four of the exact same figure. He's going to live as Metal Head for me. I was planning on getting Ectotron first and getting Party Wallop later cause I feel like I'd be able to go to Target and just find one. I found a Code Red... didn't pick it up but there were a tone of them and I don't even go to Target that often cause there isn't one here, I have to go out of town to get to the nearest Target. I'm not sure if they had a lot of them cause Stranger Things just isn't that popular or because that Target store just over stocked them but it's made me fairly confident that I can pick up a Party Wallop any time.

For the longest time I've been meaning to set up a payment method where as soon as I pre-order I can just put the money aside right away as soon as I pre-order. I keep forgetting about some of the re-issues I have preordered and man, Fort Max and Jetfire are going to bite me hard and without warning. Earthrise Optimus' reissue has been pushed back to late August, and the Mayhem multipacks have been pushed forward to July like what?? I could have easily paid it off when they were released in August as the charge will be taken after a month on my credit card, but I'm saving up to buy stuff at TFNation this year so I could have easily spent that voyager amount for Optimus and been good until that convention but now I have to cancel the mayhem multipacks...

Studio Series Gamer Edition Sideswipe and Concept Sunstreaker were revealed in March. UK release Date for Sideswipe was June and a week before the release he was pushed back to July. Sunstreaker is still stated to be released in August, 5 months after his official reveal. I ended up finding Sideswipe in store.

If you don't, there's about a 50/50 chance that it either it never available to buy anywhere and you'll have to pay scalper prices, or it ends up shelfwarming forever.

Couple things, ETA is worst case scenario with shipping. They can guarantee product will be in your hands by then. BMac and/or Emily said that when covid was dying down. The reason why they don't hold product is the space they take up in the warehouse, they want to get that stuff out right away because of the space. 1,000 deluxe class figures takes up maybe 5-6 times as much space as a video game. Another thing to consider between Japan and America is the sheer difference in size in the countries. It's quicker and easier to get product across Japan than it is America.

In general the timeline for releases sucks at the moment. Mayhem, Star seekers, Autobot Selects pack, Tidal wave, the Target 4 pack, all of it is set to come out on the 15th of July. If anything wave 3 coming out early was a blessing for me because they were also meant to come out on July 15th, and vector still is. I’m lucky I was able to pay for most of the star seekers well before release due to the wacky preorder system of the site I used.

I'm very used to both Transformers and games on Steam being on preorder for too long. I do agree, if they set a date, and stick to it, that it would be better overall.

If I'm preordering something on amazon I tend to buy a giftcard around the same value as my order and use that for the order when I know I have the money for it. Then, it's already out of my bank account so I don't worry about surprise fees later

This is why I never pre-order domestic figures unless I have to pay for them straight away. The release dates are *at best* vague suggestions, so I'd rather they take the money straight away than have the pre-order hanging over me. Imports don't really have this problem, so I'm fine with not paying straight away on those, especially when the Japanese sites tend to have fairly rigid payment methods and systems that would also help avoid this sort of thing.

I understand where you are coming from. Believe me. I just had $4K in toys show up last month that had been hanging in preorder purgatory for well over a year. But as toy collectors, we need to have a bit of perspective. Hasbro doesn't care about your $500 in preorders. They can ship more than that out to any given Walmart or Target store a couple of times per week. (I know they don't actually ship to the stores.) They need to have these products ready to hit their delivery goals for the small handful of retailers that make up the vast majority of all the sales. If things go well and the factories can get orders fulfilled sooner, your preorder is going to get filled sooner. But as long as they get the order fulfilled by the promised delivery date, they've done their job. You claimed in the video that it isn't a problem if stuff gets delivered late. You are wrong about that. Stores have scheduled resets, usually around this time for summer and again come late August/September when they start setting for the holiday season. If that merch that was supposed to be on the fall reset isn't there, there's likely to be contractual ramifications. But even on a purely practical level, the stores are going to put other merch out to fill the gaps where your product was suppose to be. And once that happens, you may not get that real estate on the pegs back. You're certainly going to have some questions to answer before the store places another order with you. You make the comparison in the video to media (video games, movies and music) which all tend to have street dates. That wasn't always the case. As late as the 90's, that stuff just showed up in stores whenever it got there. I recall having my Super NES system on preorder through Sears and getting pissed when they were sitting on Kmart's shelves nearly two weeks before my order was scheduled to be filled. It took the retailers getting upset about the first retailer to get a given product having such a huge advantage (especially when there wasn't a set retail price) for anything to be done about it. But retailers did that because they make money on media, a lot of it. They don't make a lot on toys. They have generally sold them for very small mark-ups to use them as a way to draw families in. They aren't going to invest a bunch of time and energy into that for toys that make peanuts in profits. So if you want stores to make more of an effort with the timing of toys, be prepared for even more massive price hikes. Personally, I'll just learn to plan my budget to be a bit more flexible, or reduce the number of preorders I place.

I’ve had so many Hasbro figures show up early on my BBTS preorders that I had to get a Sezzle account as a form of payment. That way in case they do show up early, I can just pay them in smaller amounts. And yet my SS86 Frenzy, which I’ve had preordered since last August, STILL hasn’t gone through yet!

I think a lot of the problems with distribution in the US has to do with how far the product has to travel. There are so many factors with international freight that are not easily controlled. Weather alone can massively affect how quickly a ship can travel across an ocean. Japan is much smaller than the US in landmass and much closer to the country of origin so I think they are better able to schedule arrivals. Lego does have very reliable street dates for their products but they have many factories all over the world and many of the North American sets coming from the Mexico factory. With most Transformers products coming from Vietnam almost every toy will travel on some combination of boat, train, plane, or truck before it ever hits a warehouse or store shelf. Amazon in particular seems to be particularly bad with shipping dates. Pulse is a little better but only by a couple weeks or so at best

While I do have some wave 3 Legacy and Studio Series things on pre-order, I have been hoping that some of them will be available by early August so I can buy them at TFNation. On Pulse UK, SS86 Bumblebee and Legacy Side Burn are still due to ship on the weekend of the convention, so it could go either way, but I still have my fingers crossed they'll be there. Tidal Wave being pushed back to July works for me because I couldn't really spare £220 by the time it's original shipping date of May came around, but now I can, Tidal Wave is on top of my TFNation shopping list.

I'm fine with toys coming in early. I just make sure to order from places where I have the chance to cancel if necessary. Needing the toys to review for a KZbin channel presents a very special set of difficulties.

i think that if this is a big issue for people, one: dont pre-order most of a toyline unless you can afford it, two: don't go over board and buy 4 of the same toy. its up to the consumer to be sensible sometimes, as-well as the company to have reliable dates . This wouldnt be an issue to a casual collector, if this is an issue then you arent ready to go beyond casual. This hobby helps us keep that kid alive in us, but its important not to act like a kid with our money.

I got burned once from Hasbro shipping an item early so now when I preorder an item I save up enough, buy a gift card withing a month or 2, and change my payment method to said gift card. It helps a lot and doesn't affect my bills too much.

I don't really see the point of pre-ordering something unless it's limited to one or I think it's gonna sell out. If you're really that worried about this that much I suggest holding out on pre-ordering until you hear something has started shipping out

That’s what I could’ve gotten out of a ToQger adaptation, but Hasbro didn’t want to turn it into power rangers. Still irks me to this day. As for the vague release dates thing, it doesn’t really bother me for figures that I don’t feel like I need to pick up, or for figures I only kind of want.

Spotted the full set of the Deluxes in the wild since about 3 weeks ago here in Southeast Asia. Too many on the shelves, to be honest, and not really moving in terms of sales due to the value of what you are really getting these days. The Tidalwave, meanwhile, has been selling like hotcakes here for the last 2 weeks already (even on discounts). (It already feels kinda 'old' right about now!) 😂🎉

Gawd I hate that the release dates are completely unreliable! One time I recieved Elita-1 BEFORE I GOT THE EMAIL THAT IT SHIPPED! I got my copies of Hot Shot and Nucleous, but you know I only found Magneous at retail like two weeks ago, because I skipped on the preorder on him expecting him to be everywhere since he's wave 1! It's bonkers! I need to watch my pre-orders nowadays and not order too much because they keep pulling this bullshit on us! But also there is toys I might NEVER see at retail, because distribution in Canada is a JOKE! So I can't just skip my must-haves! GAH! You're right that video games, books, even LEGO they come out at the date they're supposed to!

Honestly at this point I just check my retail stores to see if anything has changed and get my new transformers stuff at the local toy shops because know that they will have something new from the recent waves like I found Vector prime early at a toy store that I visit

You know who DOES have reliable release dates? Takara-Tomy. I've never had an issue with distribution in Japan. They stock less, sure, but I can go on a set date and get what I want.

The dates on Amazon Canada are odd cause some are mid July which not bad then some is September or December which is odd. In store distribution is also odd cause GameStop will have stuff early or stuff will show up late Late super inconsistent. I also usually preorder legacy on amazon or GameStop and it arrives all at once being a big budget strain, when it comes to online maybe having the figures be a bit spread out could help like deluxes are first then voyager comes 3-4 days later etc there’s a buffer for people to better budget this so it isn’t a big dump

This was so annoying for the LC cause I waited like a month or two for Dino Thunder Blue in stores and just got annoyed he wasn't showing up in actual stores so I got him online, and that was when LC had the clear fronts so you could see something wrong with them without needing to buy the figure, if you got it in person.

It's so frustrating to go to Walmart and find on the pegs the Legacy wave one Transformers still!! Put them on sell already! Get rid of them and get the latest waves! They come at such a slow pace, until some scalper buys them to sell them 3 times the price on-line! So the problem is in almost every aspect of the hobby, you can totally see it in the fans. I've noticed that the problem has become worse ever since Wars for Cybertron trilogy, toys are hard to get in stores or stay on shelves and pegs forever, not to mention the prices, 42$ for a Deluxe?!! No wonder they stay in shelves! Toys R Us is not as bad, but even them don't keep up quickly enough. It's enough to discourage people from pursuing the hobby anymore... shame.

certain figures getting special treatment to always be on the shelf may be nice in some places that actually reliably stock new figures, but where i live it's a nightmare. we've always had issues with stores overstocking 1 wave and having it shelfwarm, now it means every store i go into has optimus prime. just optimus prime. i go into another store to see what they have, optimus prime. stacks of optimus prime, with none of the interesting figures behind them. in the past when you dug behind shelfwarmers there were often 1 or 2 other figures hiding among them, but now it's all optimus prime. and if they do end up getting something else, it's 10 of the same figure from several years ago(blackarachnias, "new" on shelf in 2024!, cyberverse slugtron at the end of earthspark!)

honestly this is why I stopped using BBTS, you never know accurately when something is coming in. Personally, I'd prefer that instead of changing anything with shipping or even release dates more stores had the option to charge upfront. I'd happily pay out on clicking check out or have an option to do a "lay away" type option where you can pay off the pre order any time before it ships, that would have so many orders from unexpected fluctuations for me.

I guess this is kinda apples to oranges (though they're still both fruit), but at least hasbro kinda gives some semblance of an idea of when they should come out within a few months. A lot of the stuff up for pre-order on showz have the preorder deposit with an unknown release date so you can't even plan really. Heck, I don't know if half of the stuff will ever actually be re-released and come out, tbh. Not that this comparison justifies hasbro or anything though.
