Inconsistency" I mean, you actually can call that "Improvement in research", it would've been much worse if they kept Cloud at the same level they placed Tifa at back then (back then they just probably didn't buy Supernova scaling cuz reasons like RPG chars being confusing). Also you are comparing a recent fight with a Season 2 episode and we talking about a season that had a bunch of wrong verdicts with meh research and reasonings (Guts vs Nightmare *cough*) and their team wasn't very big. Tbh I find comparing both season kinda dumb. Also they made Cloud x1200 FTL, not 12 btw. That's a huge blitz even if Link was Lightspeed or low FTL. Also I feel like the whole "Magic Armor makes him invulnerable. GG" sounds like a very typical big immunity NLF and I dont think there's anything suggesting he can tank a supernova and would've at best delayed the fight.

Actually, everything you just said was false. Even if you don’t buy Universal and Immeasurable Link, his absurdly massive arsenal has multiple perfect counters for every goddamn thing that Cloud can do. Finishing touch BFR’s the opponent? Link turns into a painting and goes into a crack in the wall to go back to the fight. Cloud can drain magic? Use Château Romani to give Link infinite magic for 3 days, making it so Link can’t run out at any time, and Cloud both loses more MP than he drains, and can’t drain magic if he doesn’t have any to begin with, so it won’t be a factor for long. Cloud can use time manipulation to speed himself up and slow himself down? Oh hey, Link can do that, too. He’s also immune to time manipulation, can stop time in various different ways, and can even go back in time 3 days before the fight happened so that he can get prep time to face Cloud. Cloud has magic attacks? The Master Sword dispels magic. Cloud too strong? All of Link’s armor and ring stats stacked makes each hit register as only 1/164th of a hit. Cloud too fast? Link can stop him with Stasis, can stop time in various ways, can slow him down with the Inverted Song of Time, and use the Magic Armor with the aforementioned Château Romani, which he can have 999 bottles of, to become invincible for a combined total of 8 years. Cloud can turn people into frogs and shit? The Triforce of Courage resists transmogrification, and Link can do it himself with the Magic Powder and Quake Medallion. Cloud has instant death spells? Link has several methods of coming back from the dead without fairies. Cloud too durable? Ancient Arrows instantly consign those hit by it to oblivion, can, again, become invincible, and can turn people to stone with the Master Sword, and can kill in one hit with the One Hit Obliterator. Cloud can dispel barriers? Link’s barriers act more like items than spells, so he can just use them again and again if Cloud just dispels them, and again, cloud has limited magic, so just spamming it would be an unwise move. Link VERY clearly has the upper hand over Cloudeven if we leave out all of the cosmic shit he has done. Cloud has nothing that he can do against Link. He VERY CLEARLY should have lost.

Yeah, the analysis in beginning was weird such as listing off feats that aren't as impressive, but the rest was a dream come true. Especially at the ending where Star annihilates everything in her path and declares herself the winner. That's something only a fan of both shows can appreciate. I can see why you personally didn't enjoy it but I loved almost every second of it, and to be frank, I haven't seen anyone go that nuts over the verdict.

The thing about Ben vs Hal is that the result is accurate, but it was explained poorly in the episode. Using rebirth Hal would give GL all his powers and feats since rebirth combined all the pre/post crisis timelines (and Hal wasn’t affected by crisis just like every other GL), Hal has feats and scaling that give him multiversal+ AP (which is enough to kill Ben thanks to his death by the Chronosapien Time Bomb and a statement from Man of Action that says celestialsapiens cannot survive multiverse destruction without aid from other celestialsapiens), Hal’s speed feats are way better than Ben’s in both movement and reaction (to the point where you could very easily argue that Hal can kill Ben before the watch’s failsafe activates), Hal has resistances to all the hax Ben can throw at him, and Hal has more experience. What is your quarrel with the episode?

My issue is that Cloud surviving the supernova seems to be based on a gameplay mechanic, which calls its authenticity into question. Is there any real evidence that he really could tank one? Also, from what I gather, some of Link's more defensive gadgets which could possibly have turned the fight in his favor were not utilized or acknowledged.

I just watched a Link and Dante power scaling video by Excalibur596 and yeah I don’t think Cloud stands a chance. The weakest Link has celestial body level power and A composite Fierce Deity Link (which Death battle used) is about multi solar system in power and has many passive spells that basically make him untouchable.

Excalibur596 is about half wrong, half right in that video, he's right that the weakest link is planetary but His star level to solar system verdicts are very low, as well as his speed scaling. Link has planetary, star, galaxy, multi galaxy, and universal+ level feats and even a low multiversal feat from demise. Edit: after completing my research on LoZ the weakest link is planetary, mid level links are solar system to galaxy level while the high level links have low multi level feats with the highest interpretation of links feats put him at multiversal+

So for this round cloud is stronger like you said but link is so massively faster than cloud that cloud would never land a hit and link would one shot him with an ancient arrow or go into several different ways that link can win with his speed. cloud may have more spells but link can counter most of them with his own equipment/abilities. and while a comp cloud (including dissidia) would destroy every stand alone link, almost every stand alone link would destroy a stand alone cloud(not including dissidia. Link: uni+(low ball) to low multi with infinite to immeasurable speeds. Cloud: solar system level to uni+(wank) with mftl+ to infinite(wank) speeds. Dissidia cloud: multiversal+ level with infinite speeds. A fomp link beats both at once bruh.

Being able to move in a realm without time doesn’t make you faster then time that’s just time hax time hax don’t make you faster just able to resistence time. Having time powers doesn’t make you fourth dimensional in the same way having space powers doesn’t make you universal at best it means ya have time/space hax. An actual example of someone being faster then time is the flash when he ran so fast he went back into the past and caused time point crisis event. Don’t bring the ocerina of time literally in both cases it was used it could only go back in time for a certain range and no more and no less. In ocerina of time 7 years to the past or future in majora’s mask 3 days to the past or future. Most links don’t have time hax for the most part except for a few and even then cloud also has time hax for a few. Overall this is unfair fight in both senses either cloud bodies or cloud has to fight multiple people at once yes each link is a different link even if there all descents in the same way asura and hashura and hashirama and madara and sasuke and naruto are all different people better example is basically most superheroes over the years they all may have started from one point but now have many different points and to say their all the exact same versions is the a lie. Especially since in links case he goes through different life experiences and trials. Overall link is not mutiversal nor faster then cloud so overall cloud still kicks his but not only that but cloud is massively faster and more powerful and has time hax so yeah cloud still kicks link’s butt.

Cloud isn't faster. His best speed feats are dodging lightning-magic and deflecting bullets. Link's best speed feats are dodging and deflecting lasers. Wanking a battle animation from a game that Cloud _isn't even in_ to claim Bahamut Fury is, what'd they claim, 12,000xFTL, and that because Zack beat it in a fight that Zack must be 12,000xFTL, and that Cloud is still alive while Zack is dead, ALL to wank Cloud up to a speed FAR beyond anything he's ever shown is DESPERATE on DeathBattle's part. First off, Exaflare's animation is just that: an animation. Bahamut doesn't literally teleport back to Neptune, then fly back to Gaia, then blow up the moon and channel the explosion DIRECTLY INTO THE PLANET - that'd destroy all life on the planet and prevent the events of FFVII from ever taking place. It's just a fun animation - like Supernova - that gives a nod to the IRL lore behind Bahamut (that he's from Neptune); it's not an actual feat, as it _never actually happened_ . Even if it did, Bahamut never moves anywhere near the suggested speed in the battle - it just hovers there and let's Zack attack it. We never see Zack move anywhere near even sub-lightspeed, and we never see Cloud move FTL. But Link does lol Our boi Link deflects lasers _with a pot lid_ - they just wanted Cloud to win, so they wanked some feats THAT AREN'T EVEN HIS. And even if we did give them to him - just for shits and giggles - Link can stop time itself with a Clock, slow time by half for everything but himself, or freeze Cloud in Time with Stasis. More importantly, Link has layer upon layer of magical protection - Cloud could never harm him. DeathBattle sucks lmao

Edit: and then one outlier which is Final Fantasy Tactics A2 where it costs 12 mp when used. but doesn't change the fact that on average the typical variance of cost is between 0-2, meaning its a pretty low cost and effort ability in the general context of the series.

The idea of Cloud fighting a walking paradox is what bothers me. This Link's mere existence is a massive buff but people still complain he wasn't given more. Why is it okay to ignore a core narrative device in the Zelda series for the sake of highballing? I've never liked these "composite characters". It's bad enough when a comic is used they give the person powers and abilities written by multiple authors from different series but at least those are all meant to be the same person. By Zelda's own writing these Links are literally different people. They should give Link, and all other composite characters, the same battle royale treatment they gave Mega Man.

I'm not a massive mega fan of either franchise so i wasn't affected by the outcome. My problem is more with the match up in general i feel like overall the 10th season match up wise has just been uninspired and unoriginal. They brought Shadow back, they brought Doom back, they brought Lex back they're bringing Batman back, people are speculating that Iron Man is gonna be the opponent so that's another comeback and this is a rematch. Like if you wanna do this match ups fine but i just don't think they should've been in the line up for this season. There are still plenty of series that either have little or no rep that they can use. This is the 10th anniversary of the show its supposed to be different, special, unique. But these match ups show that they really don't care so when it comes to the idea that they don't care about the audience i completely agree.

For example, you say that all Link would need to do is wait until Cloud ran out of magic while previously stating that Cloud could siphon off magic from Link, and when Link drinks his potion he has unlimited magic. Also, it's clear that you don't bother to read the boxes in the corner of the screen because they mentioned the statements regarding Demise and Majora supposedly creating dimensions in those boxes. They specifically stated that simple statements weren't enough to justify it, and even if they took it literally, the supernova destroyed dimensional space as well which Cloud survived. Speaking of the supernova, you're STILL on Yang vs Tifa?! That was EIGHT YEARS AGO!!!! Obviously, Death Battle has improved in their research since then, but nope you hate Death Battle, so fuck that. Also, they did not lowball Link, and I say this as a Zelda fan and as someone who doesn't care about Final Fantasy. They gave him a lot of his arsenal. Sure, there were a few things left out, but nothing that would actually help him to a significant degree. Also, Bahamut's speed was not "12 times the speed of light". It was 1,200 x light speed, and I guarantee you that NO ONE in Zelda is even close to being that fast. As for the animation, while I do admit that the models don't look that great, I can excuse that because the SFM team was using a new software when making this. The fight had good coreography and nice usage of both character's arsenal. One final thing, you say that you don't care who wins because you like both franchises, but then at the very end of the video you say and I quote, "All they had to do was make a good animation and have Link win." Adding on to problems with this episode. Is that the super nova spell isn't a real supernova but an illusion spell that doesn't actually kill. The supernova spell's intro is the same as every other illusion spell in the game. This makes sense cannon wise since Sephiroth spells are primarily just used to mess with his opponent's mind because he prefers to torture his victims slowly rather than killing them quickly. Something cloud knows to well.
