The only issue here is momentum and material. Homelander couldnt stop the plane because it had too much momentum and too fragile a construct for him to actually grab on. The plane would crumble before he was able to glide it to safety. The skyscraper was static before Tightan grabbed it, and it presumably had a very durable structure other than simple engineering due to countless sheninigans Megamind has been pulling for decades. Building could withstand the pressure of Tightan because it was designed to tank it for a short while, Plane could not.

I agree with your result completely and most of the stuff you said sounded alright, but a couple things bug me and the biggest one was this. When they were in spaceships as babies they may have been moving faster than light but they showed them moving in the same direction at the same speed! in other words there's no relative movement, from Megamind perspective metroman wasn't moving, this matches up with the fact that they reach basically the same location at the same time so there's no speed of light reaction happening. That would be like saying I can react to something that's moving near the speed of sound because I can see an airplane moving from the ground.
