It's mainly used for sports, wrestling or video games to show when someone or something isn't performing as well as they should or use to. Like, imagine if you used to be good at basketball, then you injured your knee so you can't play as well as you used to for a while. That's technically a nerf, since you got downgraded due to an injury. It's like that; in the MCU, they SEVRELY make their characters weaker so that the writers and directors can make them less ridiculous for general audiences.

@@GeoX242 ok...but they used the majority of base thor of earth 616 (canon), not even touching on his current most powerful run yet with the power of the all father, odinforce. I see people with the same complaints about multiple continuities, but I think they fail to see how power scaling works with the canon and non canon versions. Simply put, if the non canon is very similar or weaker, it can be used, a good ex: using MCU thor (noncanon) feats for 616 Thor, as MCU characters are peebles to their comic counterparts. A bad way of using noncanon feats/scaling would be like giving Spider-man his most powerful version, Cosmic Spider-man (a Spider-man given the Uni-power, thats literally living plot armor, making him practically a God) in his next match up. The problem is 616 Spider-man only used it for like a day, lost the power and never it had since. There versions where he kept the Uni-Power, but that shouldn't be used because that's not really within 616 Spidey's arsenal. See what I mean?

I think it's just mostly because of the limitations with current technology and the cost to make movies/TV shows. The closest we got for comic book level strength on screen is Infinity Stone Ultron vs The Watcher (Which was animated) which they could never really do in live action right now since it would be extremely time consuming and costly (Most MCU live action movies cost at least $200 million to make).

The results would be the same either way, but it would have been a bit closer if they also included all of Vegeta's zenkais and training power boosts. Also didn't mention that Vegeta absorbed his God power into his base as well, otherwise base Goku would be far above Base Vegeta.

Knowing Death Battle probably the former, as this isn’t the only inconsistency. The speed scaling they gave to Thor, would also apply to World Breaker Hulk given how they scaled Thor to World Breaker Hulk in terms of strength. Meaning even if you use the calculation they gave for Broly and Hulk with strength, Hulk would be way too fast for Broly. Like this is the most jarring inconsistency here.

The main reason the MCU characters seem so weak compared to their comic book counterparts, is cause no one wants to expand to the proportions of comics and animated shows/movies for a live action movie/show. And budgets for live action movies, not to mention the costs of actors, pretty much drive any chance of comic proportions into the dirt. It’s just too pricey, and not every moment in a comic would be worth creating.
