So... Here I am! First of all I am really sorry for hyping you that much and that you didn't really like it. But at least you appreciate the musicianship of this band and that's all what really counts. But I am not really disappointed by that because you gave it a try and I really appreciate your honesty. This is what makes a reaction a reaction. And yeah: The vocals are a bit unusual, even for a Death Metal band xD.

@dysthymiabearer4 жыл бұрын
I honestly think its about passions, but bodily passions, sex, lust. I´m pretty sure that Chuck was a person that believed in the existance of a soul, and he had his own way to see how to fulfill the soul, and he probably was against Lust, being this the most pointless sin, and the most disgusting for some people, and Chuck was one of those people. The human flesh and the ways it has to control you, and its passion might be quick, might burn painfully, it has a thousand faces. When the beauty of humans and sex shows its ugly nature within you, just be prepared.

I wouldn't recommend Death to you yet. It isn't what death metal has come to be, but its still in the same realm. This album is more progressive metal than death. It takes a few relistens before you see what it's about. But, once you get into it - Death, the band, is a deep rabbit hole. A perfect band who didn't make a bad song. Leave it for later, I say. Go listen to some Rush and Maiden first
@dhelsgade4 жыл бұрын
"A deep rabbit hole, a perfect band who didn't make a bad song." Well said, man! The rabbit hole phrase really proves to me that Death is like a "Blackhole" to me. After discovering Death... I don't remember when that was. And after getting used to it, it really consumed my times when it comes to music. Not to mention after getting to know the band evenmore, their history more deeply, about Chuck... it simply becoming one of my favorite band alongside Megadeth, Necrophagist and the other bands. I might even dare to say, it's on number 1 on my favorite band of all time. Before I know Death, I usually always keep find out and discovering about other bands. Although it's an old band or a modern one. But since I discovering Death, I feel like... "I don't need another band, this is more than enough. This is the peak of my band collection." Which is not really a good thing to say. That's how I love Death and Control Denied so much. Whenever I want to relax enjoying a music, to contemplating, to accompanying me to read a book, or seeking a inspiration to write my song, Death always come to mind. It really hard to ignore it, but I have to. Who knows, maybe someday I will find another band that close "a little" to Death. So far, I already have Necrophagist which is with just only two of their album (The whole whole discography I guess) able to making me falling in love with them. Necrophagist is just another level and all the guitarist's dream wish they hope to be. Mohammed is insane. And Gruesome, a total Death worship. Their existence is just solely to keep securing that the Schuldiner legacy will never die \m/ And also, they bring back the osdm sound like. Leprosy & Spiritual Healing era to be precisely. Which is good, though. Everyone loves it \m/
@StarsDie884 жыл бұрын
Glad you gave it a chance. Would have been cool had you released this vid on the 13th because that was the anniversary of the death of Chuck Schuldiner (guitars, vocals and main songwriter) back in December 2001. I kinda consider Death to be the "Tool" of death metal, as they are very artistic and progressive in how they write and perform. Another cool thing about them, is that they are the main pioneers of the genre of death metal from back in the 80s. Their 1987 debut album "Scream Bloody Gore" is kind of considered to be the 1st ever death metal album. Some slight arguments for a few other albums, but IMHO it was the true template for the genre.
@kylereece19794 жыл бұрын
Well, tis fair to say that Death are one of the most respected bands in the more heavier side of the metal spectrum- to an extent, like Tool are in their field. The song you just heard here is from their final album, which was their most progressive, in terms of time/tempo changes, complex arrangements, and a more higher pitched vocal attack than the more deepened, guttural growl associated with Death Metal. Beginning in the mid 80s , their fast, heavy sludged riffs and gore contented lyrics evolved over the course of their albums to technical, intricate virtuosity and more social/poitical lyrics. With the renaissance of skilled solos and technical riffage in metal in the early/ mid 00s, many a modern band cite Death as an influence. From RATM a coupla weeks ago to Death- tis an interesting musical journey, lad! I wozznt a fan of the really really heavier side of metal when I was a chap- it was all grunge with Metallica aswell. Bands like this got going with me some time later, so reacting to some of the more progressive, extreme side o'tings is really interesting to see. Glad ya got to do this, and a good honest constructive reaction.
