If Tabby destroys the piano before 2:20, Melody will instead sit and cry in front of the piano for a short time, before getting up and heading to the bathroom. If the toilet has not been destroyed, she will sit on top of it, and the Akaname will kill her. If Tabby destroys the toilet with the axe before Melody can sit on it, she will instead head back to her bedroom and hang herself. Tabby can prevent Melody's death once and for all by destroying the chair in Melody's room before she can hang herself. If this is done, instead of hanging herself, she will lay on her bed and sulk about how lonely she feels. Bringing Dolly to her while she is on her bed will cause her spirits to be lifted, and at midnight, she will come to the main room and play her flute.

In the grand scheme of the story, the kid's been reliving all the deaths over and over again even before we start the game. When we start the game she just so happens to start writing about her loops in her diary for the sake of narrating to us, the audience. So lore-wise the child has grown numb to the horrors and is just trying to figure out how to stop them.
