Fault Lines travels to South Carolina to investigate the epidemic of domestic violence homicide, and whether weak laws are putting women's lives at risk.
The mass shootings in Littleton, Newtown, and the Washington, D.C. Navy Yard have become a rallying cry for gun control in America. Yet, on average, every day across the country at least three women are killed by intimate partners, the majority shot to death.
Guns and domestic violence are a lethal combination in the U.S. In many states, domestic abusers can easily evade federal background checks by ordering a gun online, purchasing it at a gun show, or buying it from a private seller. Even when public outrage pushed the gun control debate to center stage, the U.S. Senate blocked a federal proposal to expand background checks for gun purchases.
Fault Lines travels to South Carolina, a state with the highest rate of women killed by men, to explore the circumstances that put women at risk of domestic violence homicide.

These women need to realize that just because you have a child with someone, does not mean you need to stay in a bad situation. They also need to check these guys out. His history is disturbing.

It doesn’t matter what the weapon is if it’s a gun and knife it’s how you use it anything can be fatal

I grew up with and around domestic violence my Mom. We had to flee to another State. These men are crazy & act like they own women. It's why I never married. The abuser finally died but I have suspicion that he poisoned his last Wife. I dug in his background online

See, a person in a relationship were you know the man is capable of really hurting you, a lot of times your on autopilot. Call the police? I got punched straight on for nothing. The police treated me like I was an idiot, and believed my bf, who lived next door to me, and said I did it to myself. I'm like look at my face? Did I punch myself? Took a year to go to court and he wouldn't leave my side. He quietly said matter of fact that I will not testify against him. Police didn't protect me, I was by myself. He almost strangled me more than once. So, what do you expect us woman to do?

All these stories have ONE common denominator - family of people in danger NOT taking swift action to ISOLATE victims from aggressors! Everyone is too relaxed in the face of threat! They allow situations to escalate! The first time someone violates u physically - LEAVE and do not look back. If kids are involved force the perp to spend time and money approaching the courts for access to their children. Most of these deaths could have been avoided.

It’s a double edged sword. On one hand it’s important we protect the innocent mans right to the second amendment on the other it’s important we protect the weak in our society. It’s important we look at both in totality

More ways to kill than just a gun. If someone wants to kill they will find away.

@Smileyrie James thank you, I was about to set this straight. No one does research, or gives out sources to their claims. People nowadays live in their own little bubble and don't understand how gun laws work differently in every state; hell, it can even vary from county to county.

WE DESERVE THE RIGHT TO DEFEND OURSELVES!!! IF THE GUN DOESN'T KILL THEM, THEY'LL FIND ANOTHER WEAPON TO DO THE JOB THEY SO STRONGLY DESIRE!!! PEOPLE LET THINGS GO TOO FAR!!! I REALLY DO KNOW ITS NOT EASY... BUT THE MINUTE I FEEL THINGS TURN... I'M OUT BEFORE IT HAS A CHANCE TO MORPH ANY FURTHER... SIMPLY BECAUSE I CAN SENSE DEEPLY WHAT IS COMING!!!

Well, I think this is just a confusing, one-sided whine about gun control shamelessly using domestic violence ( only male to female, of course) to make it seem important. This doesn't explore any of the issues in depth, honestly, or effectively. A 25 minute cheap sound bite.

+Romulus Paradise - How ridiculous...you missed the part that told you the area has the most male to female shootings in the country....you know..what you call 'to make it seem important' Use your head to explore the reasons.
