Life in Chicago's poorest neighbourhoods can sometimes feel like a war zone.
In 2015, an average of one person every three hours was shot in Chicago - more than in any other city in the US. Over the course of the calendar year, there were nearly 3,000 shooting victims in the so-called Windy City.
According to a recent American Academy of Pediatrics study, 14 million, or one in five, children in the US are exposed to violence involving a weapon between the ages of six and 17.
Chicago has struggled for years to stem the ongoing violence, but the impact goes far beyond the lives that are lost.
Children are growing up without a baseline of safety, so what are the longterm impact of this continuous exposure to violence and trauma? How will the ever-present violence affect their health and outlook on life?
Fault Lines went to Chicago to examine the psychological toll of violence on children growing up in Chicago's most dangerous and most neglected communities.

You're right! We got together with ' like minded ' families from East NewYork and moved to a safer neighborhood. We shared resources ( not so easy for Us)but it had to be agreed before the move . It can and was done ... thanks to God Almighty.

The absolute BEST thing to happen to a little black child is to be placed into foster care where they’ll most likely wind up in a white home and be raised to be civil and we all rejoice.

There a shyte-load of videos on yt that show what it’s like teaching in a predominantly black school. Those kids will NOT do what is asked, very loud, disrespectful, and violent. Throwing chairs, tables, fist punching the teacher... it isn’t “bad schools” it’s bad kids. There are no economic opportunities because people with money don’t want to risk loosing it all to crime of some sort and could mean your life. And no jobs for the same reasons. It’s the way you are raising your bastards while acting a fool yourself. Men want you for ONE thing when you flaunt that ONE thing, then get angry when he doesn’t stay n you’ve got another baby....STOP! take a break for gods sake. Raise em quietly with love and attention. Help with their schooling, pay attention to them and stop the cycle. Your children will be raising our next generation. They can’t do it with PTSD or scars or ANY kind. Sorry so drawn out.
