Shinigami eyes is half your remaining life span.. so light was about to somehow die before he got sent to jail if he didn't take the eyes.. and idk how it would happen but my guess is one of two things either 1 light kills himself with the note piece in his watch or 2 his father kills light and then himself like he said he would in one of the episodes if light was kira

Yes, but the Death Note ignores the remaining life and kills in the moment of the user's choice. Even Ryuk said in the final episode that he would write Light's name since it would be too boring to wait for him to die in prison. So, him dying by the Death Note at the end of this video doesn't tell anything about what his remaining life span was after making the deal.
