Honestly no, Light's done a number of dumb things for the sake of his ego. He had Raye Penber killed and the rest of the FBI despite knowing he was able to fool Raye Penber and that he wasn't seen as a threat anymore, for example. Considering he was already cleared this literally would have been better to let Raye live as he would have been less suspicious. Light's problem is that he's a megalomanic, and an egotistical one at that. His pride is always his downfall and he usually never even realizes it or cares until it's too late.
