"but the wait's been too long" has an aggravatingly more impactful meaning when they're playing the song 40 years later

I can personally vouch for how difficult the 16th note hi-hat pattern in this song is at the original tempo, and the unisons that Dannis plays throughout the bridge are also really freaking taxing. I kinda like that the reggae stuff Bobby and Dannis have been playing together shows through a little here. A little slower tempo, but a really nice groove. And the bass and drums are so freaking LOCKED IN. Must be so cool to make up a kickass rhythm section with your brother. RIP David Hackney. You truly were ahead of your time. As someone who's been suicidal, and whose father died severely mentally ill, missing and homeless, your concept around death really hits home. I get it completely. The whole father/son/brother thing, as well as the idea that we really should work at understanding and facing death, as it's a part of life for all of us. Your music lives on, man; and through your amazing brothers, no less!! Yes, I just wrote that to a dead man, and I don't care. Maybe some random people will see it and be inspired to keep living somehow. Or just to keep going and doing the things that are important to them, because you never know who might appreciate it and what it might mean to them. That's the beauty of this story.

its a bit exhausting, but not difficult as in "hard to learn". i'd rather have the original tempo with the drummer doing a few different things when it gets too exhausting (maybe some hi hat triplets (are they called triplets?) or double handed hi heat playing for a few beats), instead of almost half the tempo. and if you have the right technique, it shouldnt even be exhausting. the right techique for stuff like that is the thing thats actually difficult (to learn)
