The Last of Us 2 Copyright Scandal | Sony Wages War on the Internet

The recent litany of DMCA abuses perpetrated by Sony and Naughty Dog are sinister in the extreme. They are more than just an escalation of existing abuses, and constitute a new phase in the corporate war on free speech. This is no longer a game of cat-and-mouse. Sony have brought the exterminators and put a sign up on the lawn to announce that they are here.
For the benefit of everyone, if you know a channel or social media account that has been hit with an abusive DMCA strike over the Last of Us 2, please let us all know the details in the comments.

The push for diversity/equality at the cost of everything else, ends up with negative returns. Say you want to bring down homicide rates to zero, it’s achievable but you’d have to have a dystopian police state to achieve it. There comes a tipping point where the methods used to achieve something are worse than the thing you’re trying to prevent. It makes people angry, disenfranchised and sets the goals you’re trying to achieve back decades.

Cheers for the excellent video, mate. I agree with almost everything you said, possibly everything you said. I was a massive fan of TLOU1 and am disappointed with the direction they have taken it. I was angry, to be honest. Being a console peasant and an exclusive PlayStation gamer, I have completed TLOU several times and have thousands of hours on the multiplayer, over two console generations. I’ve owned every PlayStation. Yet after the dust settled with regards to the content of TLOU2, I didn’t care. I just wrote the game, and the franchise, off. Just as something not for me. Yet for the first time since I was a kid I’m strongly considering not getting the next console. I can accept them butchering a game, but false and illegal DMCA strikes are unacceptable to me. Threatening freedom of speech/expression, jeopardising peoples livelihoods, and the like, is unacceptable. It seems since Shaun Layden left as head of Sony, it’s all gone to fuck. Keep banging the drum, mate. Excellent video.

Druckmann's motivations with this game were to illicit feelings of hate. Hey! It's been a while since I wrote you a comment. I think you've done a very good job and you do gamers a big service by exposing a lot of the flaws and greed and corruption in the gaming industry. It's sad to see how far the industry has fallen since the NES, SNES and Genesis days. Those are the days that I wish I can go back to. Anyway I won't be playing this game. Not for $69.99 anyway. Sometime i think game (and film) producers are perfectly capable of making good, well-told stories, and they tend to do it on their first projects to gain attention and a following because they knew if they'd done what they truly wanted to do, no one would have fallen for it.

Ah, censorship. Something that Sony is very familiar with. Whether it is censoring critics about that The Last of Us 2 leaks or censoring niche Japanese game (the latter was when I started to hate that company), censorship is something I think they love to embrace. Their arrogance will come to bit them where it hurts. And when that happens, I'll happily spit in their faces, while playing on my Switch.
