Here's the thing with Kidd's symmetry obsession (and this is never addressed in the anime), he literally cannot help/stop it. He was taken from a piece of Lord Death's soul, specifically the part that held 'The Madness of Order'. Things being asymmetrical and imperfect literally drives him to Madness. (which you'll learn more about later) It's the same with the stripes in his hair. He's tried dying his hair to cover the stripes, but they just come back. The stripes are supernatural and are a symbol of his status as a Grim Reaper, he can't hide them.

When a weapon becomes a Death Scythe they don't just ditch their Meisters. The Meister can use this MUCH more powerful weapon to do their normal missions, plus they get major clout because they made a death scythe. One Death Scythe just needs to stick around Death in case of emergencies. Oh, and Maka's dad is normally called Death Scythe, but his actual name is Spirit. Maka's mother, who was never named cause she's not really around, is NOT dead she just divorced Spirit cause of his womanizing personality and is now traveling the world while Maka goes to school.

@@sarhahillsburg5142 good questions. No, only a Weapon can become, well a weapon. Think of it like being an X-Man, gotta have that X Gene. They have this weapon gene. Meisters are people that can harness their souls, resonate with a weapon and wield them in battle. I'm not actually sure if this is a learnable skill or you need an equivalent of a meister gene. Spirit and Maka's mother are a meister and weapon pair, and their daughter took more after her mother, becoming a Meister. Tsubaki on the other hand is from a family of weapons. So if she had a child with a meister it may be more likely to be a weapon too. As an example. To add to my original comment, meisters can technically wield any weapon, so if your original partner is unavailable you could have someone sub in. Practically though you can only partner up with someone your soul resonates with. Kid for instance just would NEVER be able to resonate with, say, an asymmetrical axe weapon, because symmetry is so ingrained in his identity. That's why he has twin pistols, which in theory should be HARDER to use as matching 3 wavelengths is normally harder than 2. We'll get some..... Practical lessons on some of this in the following episodes.

@@haku8135 as an add on to this otherwise wonderful comment I would just like to say that apparently both witches and other weapons can wield weapons in additon to Meisters. the reasons for this are spoilers (though some of them are only explored in the manga) but yeah. Patty and Liz wielding each other is just one example of this that we see. (them being sisters and on the same team that is already used to synchronizing souls helps to. but they were already doing this before they met Death the Kid in their backstory. cant remember if the anime goes into that or not)

Something that they won't mention in the anime is the reason behind Kid's hair. In the simplest terms, they appear on fully realized grim reaper. But since he has 3, his is more or less a crown, showing that he is Lord Death's son. So they can't be dyed. He has tried, but the lines will always reappear. Edit: autocorrect

I'm Dutch, so hearing 'Meister' (Which is German) sounds fine to me (In Dutch it's Meester). It's like master. :) Idk, if think it's a fun quirk of the show. Also I never watched the dub.
