I really enjoyed the use of double-blind rules, although it seemed you got into visual range very quickly. I would be curious to see what would happen in a tight urban battle where LOS could be broken constantly.

Thanks for the comment! And yah, I agree that it felt a little too fast to get into visual range. We are talking about some ways to address that - a city certainly would make it tricky!

So im getting back into battletech for the first time since 95. I got the game of armored combat set. But what should i get next? What are some good must have mechs? Inner sphere or clan mechs? Full rulebook or technical readouts? Any advice or direction would be appreciated. Ps..id like to see a batrep with tanks, infantry and air forcees done by you guys. Thanks for the awesome videos. Best battlefeilds of anyone!

Thanks man! And welcome back to Battletech - great time to get back into it. A Game of Armored Combat is an excellent start. I would also check out the Battlemech Manual or the Total Warfare for the most recent complete rules (TW has all the vehicle and infantry stuff - and while the Battlemech Manual is easier to navigate, its completely redundant with TW). There are also a couple “new” Technical Readouts, but they are mostly a remix of the 3025-3058 books if you have them... if not, I highly recommend! From a mech perspective, definitely 1000% check out the Battletech Kickstarter. Your mind will be blown. Amazing new models coming in mere months, so I’d advise checking that out. You can check out our custom BattleTech analysis engine at www.battlytics.com for deep dives on all of the kickstarter and Game of Armored Combat mechs - that should help you find some good ones! Lastly don’t hesitate to reach out by email if you have any additional questions!

Always good to see new BT content being produced. Not entirely sure how I feel about a new mech design when there are 10 billion other fan favorites they could have chosen. 😊 But overall great stuff!

Hey guys, awesome batrep as usual. I see Kevin's still losing about every game he goes into. Question for you, though - how would you guys handle clusters from an LBX? Would each pellet be its own cluster roll, or do them in groups of 2 minimum? Just curious - my playgroup plays your ruleset, and was curious what you think.

Thanks! And great question... I am out and about right now, but when I get back to the DFA lair I’ll check my notes on this. Definitely would roll a dice for each pellet (so in the case of an lbx-10, you’d roll 10 dice)... there is a minimum damage as well, but I need to look at the model and see what the rule is on that to get it as close to RAW as possible. Stay tuned...

Very cool - always feel free to shoot me an email with feedback! I took a look at the LBX, and you are correct -- for any given LBX, if *all* of the clusters miss, the minimum 2 damage applies. This is, weirdly enough, also true for the LBX-2. It keeps the damage within a couple tenths of RAW.

We have started looking at it and testing the ruleset. Some stuff we really love.... other stuff is hard to work with. For mixed arms it’s definitely my game of choice. For mech-on-mech action I think CBT is the way to go. Ultimately, its on the roadmap. Curious to see if CLG updates the ruleset or leaves it static. Commander’s Edition, while a really comprehensive product, was essentially a cut/paste of earlier books in terms of rules. But i digress 😁

Guys, great game! I really enjoyed it. Good work on the rules. I have a comment (or question) when declaring assets for battle, BV is affected by the quality of the pilot as mentioned in the beginning. But is the pilot familiar or certified to operate that ‘mech? Even though a pilot can be elite, sometimes piloting a ‘mech you are not familiar with can penalize you in a critical moment in battle. Your thoughts
