Scott - great video/tutorial and contrary to some of the other posts I appreciate the commentary. I'm not a detailer but I like working on all aspects of personalizing my vehicles. Watching videos like this gives me the confidence to take on these tasks. Keep it up sir, great job. I'm off to the parts store now with my list.

Thank you so much, Scott! I watched your other video, removing the badges without having a heating device. I used a 25 pounds fishing line and I was able to get the job done a little over 30 minutes. Took me a bit longer because the lines broke on me a few times. If I had used a 50 pounds line, maybe I would've gotten the job done faster. I then used that 3m eraser and that took maybe another 30 minutes or so. All together, it took me over 1 hour to complete the job on my 2018 yukon xl. Couldn't have done it without your video. Thank you so much!

Put the new badges on and I am PLEASED beyond measure. Used fishing line.... Works great. No heat gun. Thanks again Boss.

Years ago the 3M eraser used to be orange/red and was a lot harder and more effective and durable. They changed to what we have now, a bit softer, safer and less durable, but still gets the job done efficiently. It’s main function was to remove pinstripes off a car and exactly what was done in this video. Great video👍🏻👍🏻

I have one of those rubber wheels. It worked good on an older truck, but it burnt the crap otta my newer trucks paint. I wouldn't recommend just diving in with one of those. I'd test it on the paint in a spot under the hood or inside a door first to see if it burnt the paint.

Hi I was searching KZbin and every other site I could think of for a way to remove the adhesive that is left on the dash after the vinyl has been removed. I have a 1998 BMW Z3 and the vinyl has basically melted or became unattached to the dashboard. I have already removed the vinyl covering but I am now left with a sticky residue. I have tried Goof Off and Acetone but it still isn't working very well. This glue is a bear. Being a female and having no clue how to attack this problem I saw your video and knew that if anyone would know how to fix this it would be you. Could you please advise me of a product that would actually work on this stubborn adhesive? I would really appreciate your guidance. BTW, very interesting video. Obviously you are a pro at these things.

Scott - Question - I used this method to debadge my new maroon 2019 Traverse. It was a cloudy day when I did this. In the sunlight today, I can really see I guess they could be burn marks on clear coat? They look almost orange in color. The surface feels flat and regular, but I wonder if there is any way to correct this? Paul

I followed this video as closely as I could. I think the steam burned a little discoloration into the clear coat (white car). Big faint yellow spot. I was concerned but I buffed it out with orange pad and maguiar’s polish. Two passes at a time, checking, and watching it slowly disappear. Just in case somebody else runs into the same issue.

David Saenz depends on where you live. Depending on how long the things being removed have been on the vehicle is one important question and spend the money and get the 3m wheel there like 30$ comes with drill attachment if your car is newer it’s pretty easy those 3m wheels make it a breeze. Google or contact detail guys around you and ask there price I’ve heard of it costing 100-300-400$ again depending on what’s needed to get the paint clean once the emblem is off if they have been there yrs might want to leave them or replace with new ones after removed. Cheers

They probably use a heat gun because they don't have a steamer, as I........but I certainly am not "OVERTHINKING THE MOMENT"!.......that one came somewhat out of left field from you Scott.
@dallaspaintcorrectionautod8343
@dallaspaintcorrectionautod8343 7 жыл бұрын
oh I'm sorry..didn't mean to offend anyone..heat guns can bring on some problems in the hands of the inexperienced and they could burn the clear coat and thats what i meant by overthinking the moment ,believing the heat from the heat gun is needed although it could cause damage...and most pro detailers will have a steamer plus a heat gun but haven't thought about using the steamer for removing emblems..far safer and as effective and in my opinion reduces your liability ...so not really coming out from left field but i understand why you thought that way..i should have explained more clearly..my fault:)...the steamer i use is less than 200 dollars and can be used in so many areas of detailing..you should look into one but I'm not sure if you detail as a business or not?...thanks for your comment Anthony and sorry if you felt i was stepping on your toes for using a heat gun..in the future i will use something that may blow some minds where heat isn't needed what so ever and i have never seen it done before but in my world:)
@anthony.catalano
@anthony.catalano 7 жыл бұрын
Very true.....heat guns in the hands of an inexperienced person or detailer can do damage if not used properly. I've been a mobile detailer for several years and have always tried to limit the amount of equipment I carry around from day to day. I frequently travel out of my home state to work for clients and found myself using my old steamer less often. I typically will carry my heat gun, fishing line, 3M eraser wheel, and rapid remover to complete debadging jobs. You''re definitely right about the steamer limiting anyone's liability. No toes stepped on or love lost brother. Can''t wait for the next video....keep up the great work!

remember citrol works just as well as rapid remover for glue residue and its cheaper..plus citrol can be diluted 1:1 and still be as effective!..i pay 39 a gallon from my local napa and if i dilute the product that would be 20 a gallon...wow!..i still have rapid remover but i find i use it less and less these days

I literally walked out to my tundra and took some 6lb test line and removed the sr5,tundra,and upper badge on both sides in 5 min total, I did not need to heat up shit, I also cleaned around the adhesive before I used the rubber eraser wheel then after all the adhesive was gone I took my buffing pad and buffed out Each area then polished, turned out awesome. All in all it took me I’d say 35-40min, definitely did not take me 12 min to remove 1 emblem and definitely did not feel the need to show the whole world how I personally achieved this.
