Even after Jones got his ass beat by Reyes I knew that was horseshit. Izzy depends entirely on having the reach advantage and he has no TDD against guys bigger than him, the Jan fight proved all that. Her first round was very impressive and opened the cut on Valentina's nose. I'm interested to see how she adapts because if she runs into Santos (who I think Valentina needs to run it back with before another shot. I think their first fight was really close and I even had Santos by split, but who cares) if Santos gets the W and fights Grasso I can see it going to Santos. Valentina's spinning back kick on the fence was a major lapse of judgement. Maybe she didn't even know she was that close to the fence in the first place. I think if Valentina didn't throw it and kept circling she would have won the round and then play it safe in the 5th. Great fight though

It would have been tough. Ngannous entire plan would have to be to keep distance and go for headshots. He showed against Stipe that he can defend grappling but he wouldn't want to go to the ground. Everyone is laser focused on the JBJ fight, and understandably so. But personally, Shecvchenko Vs Grasso was my favorite fight of the night. I’m a relatively new fan to this sport, and have only seen 2 of Val’s title defenses, but even then, I could tell she was never going to give up her belt easily. To hear Grasso say “I trained SPECIFICALLY to capitalize on her screwing up a spinning back kick” really elevated her as a legit champion to me. That she recognized Schevchenko’s style, made adjustments for it, and was able to bring home the belt exploiting it. That’s the mark of a fighter that knows how to win.

I think anik brought it up but yeah it was weird that there was no follow up. If it was a killer knee into the liver that led to the takedown we would have seen it on the replay but looked like they avoided it. I'm calling a conspiracy 😂 but I don't think nickal is even that popular as a prospect with fans. I can't see him getting a W in the top 10. Even someone like kopylov who's not in the top 10 will demolish him

True. What does it say about the sport of Mixed Martial Arts when the fighter considered to be the greatest of all time is a drug cheat? How well would Jon Jones have done if he didn't have some performance enhancing chemicals in his system? 🤔 GSP is still the best to me. He didn't get as many finishes as Jon Jones; but he was a great fighter who dominated the majority of his fights and was a clean fighter. Jon Jones fights dirty in the cage with finger pokes and he's a drug cheat as well; so in my humble opinion he's disqualified from the greatest of all time debate.

I still put GSP and Mighty Mouse over Jones. Those guys did it clean and without all the messed up stuff outside the octagon. When you call someone the greatest, there is an implied judgement of their character and personal behavior as well. PED usage is a massive blot on a fighter’s legacy, and criminal issues also play a role in overall evaluation. Jones is by far the most talented fighter in MMA history, but he trashed his reputation too many times for him to go above standup role models like GSP and DJ who were dominant in their own right while also being good men inside and outside the octagon.

"Thier is an implied judge of their character" No thier isn't. That's just some bs people use to try and justify thier bias'. It doesn't matter what someone does outside of thier profession, no one watches a sport for what people act like outside of it. As such we should only judge by what happens in the cage. Also Usada changed thier standards.

@@brolyonsome3963 This just isn’t true. His UFC 214 fail was under USADA regulations. He was originally set to be suspended for four years, but it was lowered because of him being ‘cooperative’. This was not a picogram fail; that was UFC 232. The PED he failed for at 214 is still on the banned list, and the amount in his system was much higher than a trace amount.
