I can’t believe it! I have a virtual machine I boot into just to use a browser on my work VPN, and chose Linuxmint cinnamon for the purpose, but I recently realised that I didn’t need cinnamon and all the things, instead I thought I could try Debian with a window manager alone, and treat the VW almost like a special instance of a web browser, and here you go! Surely going to try this, thanks

Great video. I'm a Arch user (this channel checked me a lot with configuration). Long time ago I tried for a short time Debian. Till now I don't fully understand debian mirrors setup. Would you consider creating short video about this? If I'm correct there are source servers, backport servers and more. As I said I don't understand this

Understandable, fairly short, and professional As always! Thank you Ermanno! Maybe you just changed my daily driver back to Debian! I have an i3-gaps+Debian 10 install on my laptop, but I think I had a few mistakes during the install, and it's not as minimalistic, that I wanted to be.. But you just enlighted my way, how to do it! With this in mind I can now install an ultra minimal Debian 11 to my desktop machine (it's got Fedora 35 ATM)...

skip making an root account during install, make your user and after reboot, sudo is installed and your user is in de sudo group.

Great video as always! Very timely also, since next week I am going to setup a new PC in my office and I was thinking about this exact combination, debian 11 and i3. Usually, when I install debian, I leave the root password empty during installation to have sudo directly. What is your opinion about it?

It's personal preference. I rather have root as a separate user anyway.

Clean and easy to understand. Window managers like i3wm, awesomewm or a light DE like lxqt, these kind of light environments are perfect for every computer. But Ermano why did not you install ranger for file browser? A person like you who uses vim very well should use ranger with i3wm.

Super video, but the step to connect to the net is skipped (sorry i'm french and I don't know if my english is correct). I use the 'iwconfig' command but it don't match. I have a strig key and i use the 's:' before but i get an error. And another thing it's how can we see the vidéo in console mode ;-) I've writen all the commands on a paper and it will be good later.

No, sudo is not installed because you entered the password for root user, as it was written in the information page where you entered the root password. So please do not enter the root password. If you enter the root password, sudo will not be set up. If have an empty password for the root, your root user will be locked, and you should be able to use sudo on the first user instead. Better security. Except that, a really nice video.

Are you installing this on VirtualBox on Arch? All your sceen resolution options don't work if you use Debian as a host system for VirtualBox. Arch has virtualbox-guest-utils, Debian doesn't. VirtualBox Guest Additions on Debian isn't that straight forward. You've got to install them manually on every VM. Nice video, though. I'll be walking the steps my way... the Debian way.
