I lost my career in education this year. At 50 I'm thinking "well what now? " Im not passionate enough to retrain for anything else. Education was my passion since I was 5 years old. I have just recently found glass art. So I now source vintage glass pieces and reimage the into another useful purpose. My latest creative process has me designing and creating pet bowls for fancy pets. I use cut crystal glass, coloured glass bowls, trays etc to form these gorgeous pieces that fit into your decor. I also make bird baths, bird feeders, trinket dishes, candle sticks etc. A new passion is a wonderful thing.

I want to personally thank Michelle for sharing part of her story. The thing that holds me back the most from attending one of your workshops is the grief that has surrounded me. I don’t want to come to a joyous event and cry. I also don’t want to come and pretend that I’m not hurting. I have lost my parents and siblings, my sister and I were the last of the family, she passed away after a long horrible battle (just before Christmas last year). She was my best friend, my best cheerleader for my artwork & my life. When she passed it felt like losing my whole family all at once, I guess because as long as I had her I had a part of them. I am blessed to have my husband and 3 grown kids and grandchildren….. but the ache for my lost family doesn’t go away. My artwork is so tied to who I am, next to God, artwork is the absolute best therapy. I appreciate how REAL this video was. And really how real you & Dionne always seem to be. Maybe I shouldn’t share all of this here- but I bet I’m not the only one… Michelle has proven that! Thank you Michelle for sharing your heart! ❤

@@hannahcrumley3103 indeed Jesus is everything❤ when I lost my mom. She told me that God said he was gonna take care of me. After she died I was amazed at how right she was. I discovered you in the 2020 lockdown. My hubby of 42 years would always tell me, "Your friend Debi is on!" He would watch you with me. He died suddenly 3 years later, leaving our ministry w/o a pastor/leader. Though I was his partner in the ministry, I had not done any of the running of it. Suddenly my feet had to hit the ground running in 'shoes' I had never worn; running a ministry. The creative side of my life, went into a closet as I had no time to do such things again. Fast forward to 2024, I needed a typewriter desk, ( I hate computers and 'word', so decided to get my typewriter out to type out my Sunday AM teachings. I went to thrift store, found a typewriter desk, in Ugly Store, came home, got my DIY paints out & painted the old brown ugly finish away. My hubby's grandfather name is Poppy. I love Poppies & therefore painted Poppies on the desk & birds, his other fav. I still hv little time for painting, but did again get my DIY & bought the new Painertly, to paint a big painting for my bedroom. I had not painted in almost 4 years, other than the typewriter desk, & hated what my painting was looking like. But through watching you & many others in DIY family, I persevered and it's now 1 of my favorites. Creation truly is therapeutic for shattered hearts. TY again Debi ❤

There was once a television show, many moons ago, which had the theme that everyone has a story. The host, would throw a dart at a map, then go to that place, find a phone book (yes, that long ago) and put his finger on someones nme. He would call them and ask for them to tell their story. Every single person said the same thing, "I don't have a story". But each one of them did! That's how I feel about people. We all have stories, losses, loves, adventures and experiences. All of these stories are so important to share. Not only that, we all want to belong and without putting ourselves out there, we wont have anyone. It's frightening to introduce yourself, open up, ask someone we don't know to coffee, or take the first step. We all need to , and this is one way to do that. Thank you for sharing!

WOW! Painted Ice Cream at 11:02. . . Armoire/cabinet/wardrobe. . . There are no words for talent like this. . . I am absolutely amazed at how many incredible artists we have in the furniture art community. . . Debi. . . I LOVE how in this video you showed how you are able to find so much joy in the little things. The part where you were playing in the leaves made me cry because, I have endured so much trauma over the years. It made me think-“Where is my life going and who. . . Or ‘what’ am I??’” Now due to the chronic trauma and a recent upheaval, it has caused my newly diagnosed auto-immune disease to become active. My doctor told me that since this does not run in my family, it was my extreme long term stress, chronic panic attacks, CPTSD and a litany of other things that caused it to manifest. He said this most recent upheaval was the straw that broke the camel’s back. . . That my body could no longer endure stress and trauma of this magnitude. I want to thank you for bringing so much joy into my dark world Debi. You are such a breath of fresh air and I truly adore you. . . You are for sure one of my most favorite artists out there and I hope one day to come to your store and meet you in person. Truth be told, I would probably be star struck. . . Thank you so much for being that person who-no matter how temporary it may be at times-reminds me what “Joy and happiness” feels like. Much love to you Miss Debi.

This might have been hard to make and to hear the ladies and what their life had been, but look at how they found themselves. Looking for the future is what was great for me. Thanks so much

Thank you for doing this show. I cried all the way through it. I too have been living through hell, and all I want to do is learn to paint furniture. I was in an abusive relationship for 42 years, I divorced, and became homeless to remove myself from the situation . Got my life together, and rekindled a beautiful relationship with my true love. I was engaged for 21 days, then he passed away leaving me all alone. I was just diagnosed with cancer, and I was a advocate for Social Change for a couple of decades, working with the marginalized (poor) in my county. I just want to know how do I really learn this? I have watched you for years now! Your the best Deb. Thanks for doing this show it gave me hope that someday I can fulfill this dream on my bucket list. I live in Northern California, and can’t seem to find your products! Thanks for making the world a better place with paint❤❤❤❤❤❤
