Hard to help someone with a budget and debt resolution when they are not willing to listen or don't to want change their mindset.

My nephew wanted to buy a trailer (mobile home, pretty cheap). He is the goldenchild so Gramma offered to loan the down payment but he had to pay it back. Then he decided he didn't want to work 7 days a week, and cut back his hours. Now the bank was upset as he no longer qualified. Mum asked for the money back. Him: I don't have to because I didn't get the mortgage. Mum: what did you do with the money? Him: spent it on McDonalds. Moral: don't "loan" a red cent to your favourite grand son.

We have been socking money away to help our 2 kids for when the time comes for them to purchase a home once they have completed post secondary. They each get 100K, for the down payment on a home. It can’t be used for anything else.
