I’m not so sure about the water weight. I just did my first sauna and it was 20 minutes and it took 15 minutes to start really sweating. But afterwards I look in the mirror, and I still look very very watery. I guess because of all of the junk food over the weekend, but for some reason I know whenever I wake up in the morning and especially if I lay in bed all day, I look very tone. So I know what I look like whenever I shed waterweight. And that wasn’t it. I didn’t look that way today after the sauna.

Shibby, that's a great question! There are two aspects to consider here. Firstly, your ability to sweat will increase over time with consistent sauna or steam room visits. The more frequently you engage in these sessions, the faster and more profusely you'll sweat - it's a natural response of our bodies to new patterns. Secondly, the efficacy of your sweating diminishes with more frequent sauna visits per week. If we assume two times a week is the optimal schedule, additional visits still have some value but not as much as the initial two. From my personal experience, after a prolonged break (due to travel, for example), my sweat tends to be murky and unpleasant, but after a couple of sessions, it becomes transparent and odor-free. I hope it helps!

@@PracticalHealthNow Interesting insights thank you. Another video on here mentioned 57 minutes per eeek being optimal. Not the number of visits but the amount of time spent. So I was thinking ideally, I could do three 20 minute sessions. If I felt it was worth it. I have neck issues and I’m thinking it increased my mobility in my neck. Going to track this to look for patterns and see if it helps my situation.

Does sweating outside of a sauna (like under a heavy blanket ) have any health benefits?
@PracticalHealthNow
@PracticalHealthNow Ай бұрын
I believe the set of benefits will be similar, but not as potent as those in a sauna for several reasons: 1. saunas are hotter; 2. when visiting a sauna, you can alternate between hot (sauna room) and cold (cold showers) temperatures; 3. under a heavy blanket, the body doesn't have as much access to fresh air or oxygen compared to a sauna; 4. under a blanket, the face won't receive the same benefits as it would outdoors; and 5. the temperature difference between the body and the head might have a negative effect, but this can be mitigated by wearing a hat. That's what comes to mind right away!
