COVID-19 Can you give me an update from where you are in the world... 1. What country you are in 2. What supplies the shops have run out of 3. What restrictions you've currently got there to help contain covid-19 4.Do you/anyone you know have the virus and if so are you/they OK? Fo us it's 1.Australia of course 2.Shops are out of toilet paper, tissues, paper towel, hand sanitiser, flour, rice, sugar, pasta, chicken, limited meat, canned goods and sanitary supplies. Hospitals are short on test kits for covid-19 3. School are still open but there are no gatherings over 100 people indoors or 500 outdoors, international travel is banned and any Aussies returning home have to self isolate for 14 days 4.thankfully no.

How To Cook That: Hello Ann! I’m from France Marseille, it’s pretty more safe than Paris. I don’t have school for a month, and my mom is in self isolation because she cam from Turkish and it’s a bit hard to her. And I know my old friend from school she told me she got it and she’s okay.. I hope she will be.. alright..? :( In the stores? There’s nothing. My dad or my brothers needs to go in stores really away from Marseille because it’s empty inside gosh. People are worrying for nothing..

sadly, the people that actually look for debunking videos and people that believe you can make anything in 5 minutes in a microwave have exactly zero overlap. Though I'm surprised that some of their viewers even made the effort of trying the recipe. I thought they were more into clicking like and commenting "I wish I could make that (but my microwave is all the way in the kitchen)"

He’s clearly good at the research side, he’s clear and knowledgeable with just enough required sarcasm to make it fun to watch without being mean or taking away from the point. We can have Ann’s baking, cooking, debunking and experiments, keeping as all informed on the science and keeping us safe, and Dave can give us the news in a nice, fun, easily digestible format!

So sad that 2yrs later its only gotten worse. 🙁 It's so hard to find new channels bc all it suggests is channels like 5min crafts etc. and like you said that one company has hundreds of channels so it really does push real creators out. 🙁 Maybe you could do another video of fav creators to get more true creators out there? Either way I really appreciate you continuing the fight n making great informative videos! 💖👍👍

Later on, I added the "game of deception" and "visual seduction" segments in the Media and Visual Design class when talking about visual culture and social media (usually these principles were applied in commercial ads so the audience are compelled to buy the product). I’m a historian in training and content farms are absolutely something we need to worry about. A lot of the “disinformation” shared on FB and other platforms wasn’t necessarily outright lies, but reinterpretations and slight revisions of history and current events deliberately designed to anger people. Don’t get your history from memes people, and thanks for another great video Ann!

It's really insidious stuff. And they do it on everything. People are getting terrible medical advice on channels like BrightSide. And with all the fake information going around about Coronavirus right now that can convince people to act incredibly stupidly (e.g. because they are convinced it is fake, or that summer is going to make it go away, or whatever other nonsense). It's really dangerous stuff that is even impacting people's health directly, not to even get into the political propaganda. False information is probably grounds to remove videos from KZbin under the EULA, but they only ever even have a human look at a video if tons of people flag it at once. Google's investment in moderation is frankly pathetic. Not only have they failed to deal with the shams, the shams even often take down videos like this one (e.g. TheSoul Media can just tell are their employees to flag this video one day). Far right white nationalist groups have also used these mechanisms to attack videos that set the record straight on things like WWII (e.g. Three Arrows has had them attack his historically accurate videos several times because he was correcting their racist lies). There are anti-semitic videos here on KZbin that I've reported more than three times but that had no action taken against them because I'm just person and it was a long video that slowly built the insidious narrative so it wasn't like I could give KZbin a time stamp where it would be obvious to a reviewer spending two seconds on it.

It's interesting that the same disinformation we see in these videos was used by the Victorians in the service of creating what they thought was a "progressive" society (but was in truth distorted, patriarchal, and imperialist). It goes well beyond history; how many people today still believe that a pride of lions is a harem controlled by the lion, and not a family of lionesses with a sugar baby/sperm donor in tow?

I’m blocking all the channels from this content farmer, I was avoiding them when I noticed the pattern of subtle false information. But now I really don’t want to give them any views if I forget temporarily and get caught up in the video’s good bits, and all the other content farmers, I’ve occasionally noticed a negative pattern and blocked them. Definitely, need to be more careful what content I watch when bored and relaxed, or tired. For example, didn’t like Logan Paul videos so I just used to ignore them on my feed, then after the suicide corpse scandal I was curious, then blocked after been shown all the clips that showed what he and his family were doing, that showed they cared too much about clout, and most of all money. I only subscribe to the real, true content creators with a good conscience, that cares about their viewers, channels like Anne Reardon’s.

What I was wondering was if their way of peeling the sweet potato works. They just scored it a bit, boiled/steamed them, and then the skin came right off, with none left behind.
@owlgirl1998
@owlgirl1998 2 жыл бұрын
So it looks like they're faking blanching them, and while I've never done it w/ sweet potatoes I've done it w/ tomatoes and peaches. What you do is put the veggies in boiling water for a short time and then plunge them immediately into ice water to stop the cooking process, this allows you to pull the skins off really quickly and cleanly so I could see it working on sweet potatoes but you wouldn't get a super smooth potato it's look more like Anne's- a bit smushy around the edges

You show when it hasn't gone quite right, and the steps you take to correct that in order to produce the required result!
