I’m a historian in training and content farms are absolutely something we need to worry about. A lot of the “disinformation” shared on FB and other platforms wasn’t necessarily outright lies, but reinterpretations and slight revisions of history and current events deliberately designed to anger people. Don’t get your history from memes people, and thanks for another great video Ann!
@zvxcvxcz4 жыл бұрын
It's really insidious stuff. And they do it on everything. People are getting terrible medical advice on channels like BrightSide. And with all the fake information going around about Coronavirus right now that can convince people to act incredibly stupidly (e.g. because they are convinced it is fake, or that summer is going to make it go away, or whatever other nonsense). It's really dangerous stuff that is even impacting people's health directly, not to even get into the political propaganda. False information is probably grounds to remove videos from KZbin under the EULA, but they only ever even have a human look at a video if tons of people flag it at once. Google's investment in moderation is frankly pathetic. Not only have they failed to deal with the shams, the shams even often take down videos like this one (e.g. TheSoul Media can just tell are their employees to flag this video one day). Far right white nationalist groups have also used these mechanisms to attack videos that set the record straight on things like WWII (e.g. Three Arrows has had them attack his historically accurate videos several times because he was correcting their racist lies). There are anti-semitic videos here on KZbin that I've reported more than three times but that had no action taken against them because I'm just person and it was a long video that slowly built the insidious narrative so it wasn't like I could give KZbin a time stamp where it would be obvious to a reviewer spending two seconds on it.
@Ea-Nasir_Copper_Co4 жыл бұрын
It's interesting that the same disinformation we see in these videos was used by the Victorians in the service of creating what they thought was a "progressive" society (but was in truth distorted, patriarchal, and imperialist). It goes well beyond history; how many people today still believe that a pride of lions is a harem controlled by the lion, and not a family of lionesses with a sugar baby/sperm donor in tow?
@bunfunresident55374 жыл бұрын

I’m blocking all the channels from this content farmer, I was avoiding them when I noticed the pattern of subtle false information. But now I really don’t want to give them any views if I forget temporarily and get caught up in the video’s good bits, and all the other content farmers, I’ve occasionally noticed a negative pattern and blocked them. Definitely, need to be more careful what content I watch when bored and relaxed, or tired. For example, didn’t like Logan Paul videos so I just used to ignore them on my feed, then after the suicide corpse scandal I was curious, then blocked after been shown all the clips that showed what he and his family were doing, that showed they cared too much about clout, and most of all money. I only subscribe to the real, true content creators with a good conscience, that cares about their viewers, channels like Anne Reardon’s.

So it looks like they're faking blanching them, and while I've never done it w/ sweet potatoes I've done it w/ tomatoes and peaches. What you do is put the veggies in boiling water for a short time and then plunge them immediately into ice water to stop the cooking process, this allows you to pull the skins off really quickly and cleanly so I could see it working on sweet potatoes but you wouldn't get a super smooth potato it's look more like Anne's- a bit smushy around the edges

Don't be discouraged, you can do it! All of us have gone through trials and errors before. It's not your fault it didn't work. You should definetly pursue baking again.

Remember those "food hacks" that had the bit about regrowing onions and whatnot? You debunked that one a while ago. But thanks to covid19, it's going viral again.

Want onions? Buy onions from a nursery or home depot. If all goes well you'll have some solid onion harvest in 5 months
@RosesAndIvy4 жыл бұрын
So, I'm not sure what hacks you're referring to, but I actually regrow green onions all the time. If you cut the white parts of, you can put those in some soil and they will grow back pretty quickly.

really? KZbin said that? based on how many content farms dominate the platform, I'd have never guessed
@jay-xp1vo4 жыл бұрын
@@fortifyjoy I do believe that they specifically said that they don't endorse content farms somewhere but I can't remember where. But, according to the terms of service, they do not allow this, even though its similar with what The Soul Publishing is doing: *Spam, misleading metadata, and scams Everyone hates spam. Don't create misleading descriptions, tags, titles, or thumbnails in order to increase views. It's not okay to post large amounts of untargeted, unwanted or repetitive content, including comments and private messages* (kzbin.infopolicies/#community-guidelines)

jamiehere it was in the community guidelines I think. Some sort of rule set. But they don’t care, they only care about if a big bad youtuber said the “”F-WORD”” or not

Dear Ann, I appreciate that you honestly show all the steps in your videos. You're even honest enough to show the learning process you go through when trying to figure out how to do something you've never tried before. You show when it hasn't gone quite right, and the steps you take to correct that in order to produce the required result! More channels could benefit from following your example in producing honest content.
