In response to comments about the new marshmallow waffle video that has since been uploaded... At no point in this video did I say the marshmallow recipe was "fake". I said it was technically possible, as it is just melting a marshmallow and letting it set again. I also said it would be tricky on a waffle maker. I then showed making it and found it was not a good choice of appliance and not fast either. Most people who try what was shown in the original video will end up with a mess on their waffle maker that is very hard to clean. The new yummy waffle video shows exactly what I already said and showed in my video: 1. As I said in my video, it is technically possible. 2. You need to add oil (which is what Dave tasted and said it was not good with marshmallow) 3. You need a waffle maker without a pattern or it will stick and need hours of cleaning 4. You don't put the lid down for the whole time or it will stick 5. You need to let the marshmallow cool before removing it from the waffle maker - which takes about 15 minutes of waiting (this is not shown in their original video but is shown in the updated version). In this video, I show a much faster, cleaner and easier method that tastes good. Please ensure that you actually watch this video first before leaving a comment that doesn't make sense.

Hi, a local here, about the Vietnamese content farm one, I say this got through because most of older generation of parents in VN are not good with English. Therefore, even when children put these on speaker, the parents most likely will not understand. It's very sinister as the shady company put these kind of content into their already stolen videos of cakes in the name of learning English (which I think that's what they were going for to bypass the strict monitor and censorship in VN). What I find particularly disturbing about the "children stories" is that there is a very large portion of the children population that is abused at home (the numbers are between 1 in 3 to 1 in 5 children in the world experience some form of abuse, usually from relatives) that is EXTRA vulnerable. Particularly when it comes to tales of finding a savior in a stranger (a myth quite prevalent among us because obviously non-strangers are either abusers or some version of enablers), and knowing how little kid/teen fiction addresses this audience specifically (out of fear of shocking the non-abused children, oftentimes). So that makes those stories disgusting in my eyes because it feels predatory.

RE: The creepy storytimes over baking videos - I would bet good money this stemmed from TikTok! I've seen loads of cake decorating videos in particular that use the first part of a reddit/forum story read out to audio to grab your attention (usually a really crazy sounding story so you get invested) and then have a separate video with the 2nd 3rd 4th etc. parts of the story. It's all about the annoying trend of FOMO and upped engagement (I do get why it happens because the algorithm rewards it) but if the youtube channels are doing it to they're probably just banking on the same formula.

@kittye83402 жыл бұрын
To protect your children best, you probably shouldn't let your children on KZbin. I'm not saying this to be like mean or anything, but forcing everyone to act kid friendly because children MIGHT be watching is sort of restricting to some creativity. Unfortunately there isn't a good way to regulate what is seen on the internet. So you have to really decide on your sensibilities and basically manually check every site and source. But educational and Christian as well as child friendly sites exist. And sites for entertainment too. KZbin does definitely need to ban some dangerous channels which endanger both kids and adults but as for others, it's up to parents to watch channels individually and decide if they do let their kids watch KZbin.

It’s best to not let your children use the internet, period. Even if it seems like a useful distraction, there’s SO many awful ramifications of childhood technology use. It can cause emotional disconnection, shorten attention span, and just deprives a child of being allowed to be creative. Your child should look back at their childhood and think about all the fun projects they tried, not the channels they watched.

@@clownfromclowntown It's not just about "a useful distraction". The internet is helpful and important to learn. School, the library, and parents are not enough. Many parents and schools won't even tell kids what careers exists. There's too many people who said they have regrets of not being able to have their dream careers cause they couldn't start it as a kid or couldn't afford lessons. Such as ballet, athletics, being a professional instrument musician, etc. Some things had to be started as a kid. Finally the internet gives free lessons. Creativity has to be inspired from somewhere. Such as all the creativity and innovation on the internet. That may be hard to see in real life. The internet also teaches life skills which some parents and many schools are negligent about. Kids need to learn all these things too. For example, look at the comments on Tantacrul's video on babies and music. So many comments there of regret there of not being exposed, taught, and doing certain things that people have to as a kid to have their dream careers. There was one person there lamenting he/she couldn't have those things as a kid and his missed dream career, so he pushed for communism hoping that would help that. I first saw cooking story videos like those posted on KZbin shorts, re-uploaded from TikTok. Some commenters would say that this or that story originated on Reddit or a similar site. The story videos Ann has shown here are creepier than the ones from KZbin shorts/TikTok that I first discovered. @@vs9400 Yes. But it also lets people easily see if the video is suspicious. Even if it gets recommended to you you can look at the dislikes, see they pass the likes by a good amount, and know it's not a good video. Due to the nature of tik tok and being able to use sounds that aren't yours, others started borrowing popular audios of these peoples' genuine heartfelt stories of their own hardships and using them to voiceover their own videos that didn't typically receive attention from the algorithms. So they used the shock value of others stories to boost their own content, and now content farms are following the same line of thinking, but with fake stories, as content farms do

In defence of the apple cake video, it could be a translation mistake. It's a german video and if you want to say something will be quick, in english you'd probably say "just a second" while in german it's more common to say "just a minute". Recepies also tend to be titled "(...)-minute (...)", if the author wants to show how much quicker the new recepie is compared to a more traditional version. The cake in the video appears to be a simplified version of "sunken in applecake", were traditionally you'd arrange the apples on top of the dough and let them sink in while baking, so that could be why it's named that way. I'm not positive this is what happened, but it seems plausible, considering the other titles are fine.
@akmadsen Жыл бұрын
I don't really have a dog in this race, but in those cases you usually write it like you just did-"a minute" as opposed to "1 minute" (as in the video title). And yes, I know you _can_ write it with explicit numbers, I said "usually".
@doggyspeak9 ай бұрын
Considering both the article "a" and the number "one" are both referred to as "ein" in the German language its possible that a more vague and exaggerated phrase like "apple cake in a minute" gained more specificity in the translation "apple cake in one minute" or something like that.

The stories in those cake making videos would likely be triggering for people who have been in similar situations, like child victims of DV. That's not good! I had mild anxiety listening (C-PTSD sufferer) even though they didn't directly relate to my past abuse and I'm well on my way to recovering. Can I suggest you add a trigger warning please to protect your viewers? I didn't notice it hear one, so please ignore if I missed it.

That was such a great analogy you used about KZbin's policy on misleading thumbnails. It really put it in perspective. Watching something may not cost us any money, but we are basically casting a vote on what KZbin suggests for us to watch. When the thumbnail is misleading, and we are disappointed, KZbin doesn't know that and keeps suggesting videos related to that disappointment for what feels like forever lol

There is an option to not see "content from this channel". Unlike a lot of features, this one does seem to work.

It may not cost us any money, but KZbinrs do get paid by the view. And even 10 seconds is enough to count as a view. And this annoying algorithm. Accidentally click on one random video one time and the suggestions for it never cease, but I can barely get a suggestion for a KZbinr I follow.

Many middle eastern and Caribbean countries "wash" their meats, specifically poultry, with citrus and salt. This is because it masks the scent of meat, which isn't very appealing.

It would be safe if you kept the solution in a container and cooked it along with the meat, or disposed of excess straight down the sink with hot water. After all, this is what we do when we brine meat or marinade it (which is probably what they're doing there).
