Is there anything more sublime than French music from this period... I highly recommend Ravel's piano music. Classical music is just so full of very profound motifs

Something about classical music, no matter how many times you listen to it you get the same amount of emotional reaction its truly incredible.

When you write a melody you usually write in a TONIC key, to move on to new sections that end up coming back to your main melody or theme in your Tonic Key you need to move to the Dominant and Subdominant key that corresponds with whatever Key your Tonic is. Once you know these things your able to make the music feel like it’s moving back and forth from and to HOME (TONIC)

Beautiful reaction... I love this piece... they reason it sounds like 2 pianos is because of an early advanced tequnique called 3vs2. This is one of those pieces Debussy wrote on the piano but wished for it to be played on other instruments. Although he was a pianist his favorite instruments were actually the harp and the flute as well as a few other higher octave wind and string instruments... this is one of those pieces he wanted people to transpose for their own instrument... the reason you feel like you’re moving with the music is because arabesque is actully the name of a move in ballet and this piece is a composition based around that dance move... I would love to see more classical music reviews by you! Perhaps a piece on the violin next like a concerto by Sibelius or tchkovisky

Great job! Like how sensitive you are when listening to music. And the smart and humble human being in you. Great karma. Thank you!

I’m a huge classical music fan, listen to it everyday and when I listen to it I don’t imagine anything but there is feeling that is hard to explain. It’s not peace or calmness but something like a memory that always makes you feel at ease.

88 keys on a piano. Debussy is one of my favorite composers. These two peices bring images of walking through a gallery filled with the works of the old masters. It's quite lovely.

Scott. I've already readen your story and with tears in my eyes I can tell you I know how difficult it is. I was abused when I was a child, grewing up being bullied and three months ago I felt I couldn't more so I tried to commibt suicide. After that, the person who I loved the most broke up with me. I felt trapped but like you, medication, meditation and music helped me. Yeah, a mental illness is controlled with medicine but... Art and spirituality are important and essential factors. Art is a way of survival. Budism helps me, doing exercise and... Spending my time in things I love. I've been doing things I never thought I was going to do it. For example, I did my first song, in guitar, I'm doing one on piano, I'm writting a book and I did a mural, a cherry blossom tree in my wall. Your story touches me and I love how sensitive your are and how the music helps you like it does with me. Thank you, for this beautiful channel. I send to you a big hug from México. Thank you a lot

To answer you're question on what people picture when listening to classical music. The style that Debussy composed in, and he hated that is was referred to this, but you can compare his compositions to Impressionistic paintings. Where things aren't to exact. The music feels like it just flows and meshes together. Now there are certain composers you can listen to where the details offer the beauty that comes. Such as Beethoven where you can feel the struggle he went through while composing to get the sound he wanted just right.

88 keys on a piano! I do compose, so to offer an answer to your question of how to go on for more than six seconds... try something that's similar to but not identical to your original riff! Maybe move it a step or two up, or add some ornamentation, or have it end somewhere else the second time. Then do something totally different. Then go back to the original riff! Now you've got at least 24 seconds. Then you can fractal the process (treat that whole block as a larger-scale "riff") and you might be up to a minute and a half rather quickly! Would love to see more classical music reactions. Mendelssohn Scottish Symphony's first movement perhaps, if you have the time? (It's worth the time!)

WOW!!! You offered and freely gave your time to share this with me. This is incredible advice and can't wait to put it into practice. You gave me your time, so I'll be sure Mendelssohn is up next

As a "metalhead" I put my son to sleep every night to classical music from infancy straight through to when he was school age. At 19, he now has very eclectic taste, plays guitar and bass as well as having an absolutely beautiful singing voice. I like to think that those nights full of peaceful melody had something to do with that. To answer your question, I always envision scenes similar to those in Fantasia.

In Arabesque 1 (I don't care much for number 2), I imagine the entire cycle of life, from the beginning in the innocence of childhood, then discovering love, then even going through buildings and moments of work and difficulties in the city, yes, in that stronger and deeper part, and then perhaps having children and grandchildren, some kind of return to a simpler and calmer life, with memories of times past.
