Honestly, metal artists are some of the nicest people in the world too. I went to a Devin Townsend concert with a friend who is disabled and we were the only ones in the handicapped section. After the show, Devin came over to introduce himself to me and my friend and it was one of the best experiences of both of our lives. We also ran into the guys from Lamb of God after a show and they stuck around to talk to us for a while and just hung out with us outside their bus. Really cool dudes, 10/10 do recommend

If I could only recommend _three_ Opeth songs: *Bleak, The Drapery Falls* & *Windowpane*
@callespringer97184 жыл бұрын
Two random things: Yes, it's the same guy singing/growling everything (Mikael Åkerfeldt, also typically playing several guitar solos in each song), and yes, that drumming is ridiculously tight and good, and there are some studio outtake videos of him (Martin Lopez) playing this very song, as they were recording it. It's sick. Of course, Lopez left the band due to personal issues before they ever got to play it live, but the new Opeth drummer Axenrot plays this super well too, as can be seen in their multiple live performances since 2005.

I've seen so many people in videos like this talk about how nice metal fans are. In the last year or two I've been finding that I like progressive metal like Periphery and Tesseract quite a bit and I just started listening to Opeth the last few days and I like them so far. I've gone all my nearly 30 years so far not listening to this music but I totally get it. It's funny how people connect to this dark and angry sounding stuff.

First of all, wow this reactionary is cuuuuuuuute. Second of all Opeth is one of my fav metal bands of all time, and I adore their more "prog 70's meets metal" sound they have over the last 10 years. They have spanned such a powerful and unique change in their music, from Blackwater Park (mainly metal/death metal) to Pale Communion (hugely awesomely prog rock, so many rotary organs and mellotron sounds) Ok ill un pause you and keep watching.

That's interesting how you took incoherent talk of ordinary days. I like it. The meaning intended is about a woman losing her mental facilities as she dies, what should be an ordinary day becomes a babbled mess, incoherent, as do her memories. But I like your meaning too. Grasp life by its horns.

Duuude! In Flames was my gateway drug into legit metal. Prior to internet/satellite radio, the heaviest stuff you could get on regular radio was highly edited Mudvayne or Slipknot, which I liked at the time, but In Flames changed my world. I heard Pinball Map on the Pandora and bought the Clayman album as fast as I could. Not really into their new sound but their early stuff is criminally underrated.

I understand why people recommend Ghost of perdition, however that is a tricky first, very progressive. You should start with som more easy going stuff with Opeth. Try Porcelain Heart or Windowpane or maybe Burden for softer Opeth songs and without harsch vocals. If you want to continue go heavy I recommend you try The Moor or Drapery Falls, both songs contain clean vocals as well as harsch vocals. If you want to try a song from Opeth with only harsch vocals then I recommend Black water park.
