Did you consider or evaluate Tilt 500 when you bought the Tilt 900? I have a Tilt 500 and am considering to buy a Tilt 900 when Decathlon brings it to the Singapore market in a few weeks time. Is it worth paying more for Tilt 900 over Tilt 500 with the extra features?
@BenNorway3 жыл бұрын
Good question. I tested the 500 before I ordered the 900 without having seen the 900. I cannot really answer in a good way because both are sturdy and good bikes and if you do like me replacing a lot of parts, then you could have possibly settled with the 500 from start. That would have saved you a bit of cash. If you are not replacing Changing anything, then go with the 900 directly. The difference in weight is little bit actually noticiable and you will appreciate the slightly better complements you get on the 900. All the components on the 900 are actually good from start although some are more budget than on a Tern x11 bike.
@230219733 жыл бұрын
@@BenNorway The price for Tilt 900 for our market has yet to be announced. But from the European markets the price difference is about 130euro. I think the main difference is the 9sp Sora vs 7sp Tourney plus other minor upgrade of components, eg aluminum form vs steel fork, maybe slightly better wheels. I’m thinking if the upgrades are worth the extra money. I am quite alright with the components of the Tilt 500 and won’t be changing parts until it is time for replacement due to wear and tear. But I think the Sora with higher speed will be a better component.

Have you bought the 900? How is it?
@230219732 жыл бұрын
@@aledkhju2845 No. Tilt 900 availability was delayed for several more months. By the time it was in stock, I had already bought a road bike.
@Flix-f6q2 жыл бұрын
I had the same thought and bought the Tilt 500, and now Iam stuck with a slow duck because the Shimano has only 7 gear screw on cassettes with 13 teeth as the smallest wheel that fit. So I am 8km/h slower at a 75 pedal cadence. And forget about sprinting, its still fun, but faster would be a lot more fun. I recommend the Tilt 900, but get Schwalbe one tyres and better lights. All in all, a solid bike, acceleration is fun.

Can you please measure the circumference and length of the frame just below the seat post/backlight. It looks thick, I'm wondering if I could mount a child seat there
@BenNorway2 жыл бұрын
I will check today. It looks thick and it is as being oval. The seat post tube is round so the oval shape cones from welded ‘fin or arch’ behind it.

I think you can drill into that fin-like rear part of the tube without making it into the seating tube holding the long seat post

It's the best and nicest bike purchase I’ve done for many years and I have at least 5 bicycles bought. Some upgrades can be done depending on your preferences and I have on the list to reduce the weight maximum because I want to be able to bring it on airplane in my regular Samsonite bag. However it runs very nicely as it is delivered. More video on this will come.

Do you have any problems with the seat post sliding while you ride? I was looking into buying either the tilt 500 or the tilt 900 but I'm worried the seat post will slide because I weigh a few kg shy of the 100kg recommended limit.
@BenNorway3 жыл бұрын
I don’t know the 500 but I do know that you will not have this problem on the 900. I’m 84 and the sturdiness of the frame is impressive, also in the sleeves surrounding the seat post insert section. You may want to watch out on the seat post swap to carbon fiber but that wasn’t so much saving anyway. Cheers and good luck.You be surprised how good it’s working is my guess

@@BenNorway Thanks for your answer. You have dismissed some of my fears I had about the bike. Also, what is your opinion on the integrated lights? I've heard they are a bit lacking in luminosity.

Looks very nice. Will it take a rack (carrier) and do you think that the axles could be converted to QR ones ?
@BenNorway3 жыл бұрын
I mounted the rack carrier they suggested at decathlon and indeed it’s strong but it was making folding and weight suffer so I removed it again. I’m looking into something sleek on the front steering bar instead. Have not found the QR but I am sure they are out there. Need those as well

Go 20-inch hybrid foldable is my recommendation. There are a couple of ones that are entirely made from the start so you don't need to do all my modifications. Go and try a Brompton and compare, you will then immediately see why...

Not worth buying. Mod / upgrade all you want. Maintain. The moment the black plastic clamp is broken, the bike is not usable anymore. Decathlon DO NOT have spare parts.??? Only manufacturer have it as they mentioned. Tried looking around for solution to no avail. Used for about 18 months.
@BenNorway2 жыл бұрын
Great input. I love to buy parts in the Brompton stores. They even give me a free coffee, as included. However, the internal gear system is unique, so you can only have it proporetary fixed with Brompton. That's such a shame. I'm not sure which plastic clamps you mean and which parts you find difficult to replace. The entire Decathlon bicycle is standard Shimano everywhere.
