You have brightened my life beyond any way I can tell you. In September my son died. There has been so much misery universally and personally, but I watch you and the videos you have so beautifully made and I truly do feel like there's hope and goodness left. I love the calendars and the story books I ordered and have gifted a few. I don't know if you will ever know how much joy and peace you provide as you craft your videos (because I have an understanding of just how much work they are to do so beautifully), but rest in the knowledge that all of your artful creations are a balm to many very grateful folks. You are a treasure.

Merry Christmas Kate, from Washington state in the US. I am happy to say that there is no such thing as too many sparkles in your kitchen, or too many colors in a quilt. That was gorgeous. And they were definitely tomatoes. I had an awful mean sewing teacher when I was 12. I had made 2 dresses for extra credit, for my baby sister who was 1 at the time. I was so proud, they were smocked, embroidered and sewn on the machine and by hand. She picked them apart and told me that the workmanship was shoddy, and I should be embarrassed to turn them in for viewing. Well, my sister wore them, her daughter wore them, and now her grand daughter is wearing them. So I don't know about shoddy, but they are 58 years old and still together. Your apron reminded me of those dresses, I loved seeing it. Take good care of yourself.

@@thelasthomelyhouse I would really like that, Thank you!! After my hubby died January of 2018, I couldn't crochet as I had before because hubby was so proud of how that self-taught craft played out in our lives together. Very rarely were rugs, curtains, dish rags, blankets, etc. store bought items. I just made what we needed and because of Ross' pride in my work, many of our friends' homes had hand crafted items. So I chose to learn to papercraft items. Although I do reasonably well at that, I still miss hand stitching as decoration on crochet items or soft toys, and definitely miss crochet all together. My eyesight even after cataract surgery on both eyes, and the tremors in my left arm, my children say I am a hard headed person, which I suppose I am, because I have a slow progressing project in the works of a blanket, full sized, in autumn colors. Again, thank you for the invitation to grow older virtually together. And especially thank you and God that the COVID didn't get either of us as it raged around the world!

Always happy to find one of your videos I have not seen before. The apron reminded me of when I was in first grade at a one room school house (grade 1 to 8). I was the only girl in my grade! Our teacher had us making our mom a dish towel embroidering an apple on it. I remembered I lost my needle in a crack in the old wooden floor. I was down on my hands and knees trying to find it. The teacher came by me and scolded me to get back in my seat. That’s all I remember of that story. But I’m sure I was crying my heart out. Still remember that at 83!!!

Hello Kate, It's raining there where you are, and here where I am. Soggy but it keeps the water table up. Loving the kitchen lady bug........the colors are fun and they make me happy! I have to clean up here too, but not until I find the bow for my tree. I had one little string of lights and like you I put them up not in the kitchen ,but on the towel bar of an old wash stand/ cabinet it is so cheery now. Thank you for the idea. Who cares that I am 60 I like the lights! :D Indeed the holidays like this year will be unlike anything I or anyone else has ever known. Yet, some how, we find a way to carry on with life the best we can. We manage to take more and more, slowly of course, and sometimes it gets a bit harder, but we manage. I have always found something to smile about every day even during the most difficult times in my life. I am thankful. People are so awesome. My friends and that includes all the wonderful people that I have found here like you Kate. Thank you! We will get through this together all of us. xoxo's Sandie

She lived with me from when she was 12, now 23 and I haven’t seen her since last Christmas. She was due home in October but was moved into a higher tier two days before so that was cancelled. However seeing you tidying and putting up lights has given me a lift and we are so lucky to be safe and all our loved ones are still with us. So many families not that fortunate. So chin off mat and get on. Yes well done to Bill Bailey, he is also an enthusiastic bird watcher. Take care and everyone out there have the best Christmas you can.

I’m not an artist she was a bit disappointed. To learn. Merry Christmas and thanks for your hardwork doing your videos Marion McA.

Have a wonderful Christmas Kate. I wanted to tell you, I was reading a quilting book I got second hand recently. It talks about Strippey quits, common in northern England. There is a reference on page 186 that says, "The maker of this Turkey red and white stippey quilt was Miss NIxon, of Slaley, near Hexham, Northumberland, who had a quilt club that she ran with her sister. The quilt was made between 1870 and 1880". I thought that must be near Kate. But maybe the wrong direction from Hexham. The book is The Ultimate Quilting Book by Maggi McCormick Gordon. It is available online and you can see page 186.

Funny thing: After a move earlier this year I still can't find half my threads so in the search for white cotton I accidentally reached for my fine linen thread I bought from Sartor with the intention to handsew with it, instead. So I can now happily report that when they say at Sartor's website that it can be used in a machine, they're not lying - it only broke once. :D (Sartor is a Czech fabrics and notions shop specialising in natural fibres, with particular view towards historical costuming. I bought several linens for summer clothes from them earlier this year.)

The tomatoes remind me of the Dritz pin cushion that came with the strawberry hanging off it. Love having a good bit of "tv knitting" to do. It's a very depressing Christmas for sure. Love the church pew if that's what it is. I just tidied up my crafting the other day as well. Merry Christmas.

Your apron reminded me of the one I made in the first term of secondary school... ours were full length and not nearly as complex as yours... we used gingham fabric and embroidered the squares! Made by a combination of hand sewing and machine .... I’ve still got it somewhere, .... it’s would be 50 yrs old !! So sad that school don’t seem to do this any more! Second term we did cookery so wore our aprons... happy memories!! Happy Christmas to you and your family xxx

Dearest Kate, you are so special! Luv your house. Always wanted to do bright colors but most places I lived were rentals and wasn't allowed to do anything but white. Now I have my own home finally but have wood panel walls. The woody's ok cuz I really wanted a log cabin but couldn't find one I could afford. And as for yr height I was totally shocked cuz I thought u to be quite tall. But bless all of u, family, and yr beautiful kitties. Please stay safe and well. And yes, Agnes is beautiful! The pic I saw of John grinning at her and her grinning back was just too precious for words. It was when u got yr new big sewing machine. Take care and God Bless. Delia and me

Oh, Kate, when Agnes is old enough to cook and bake with you it will be very special indeed if she gets to wear the apron you made when you were 10 years old! Merry Christmas to you and your family!!

I've only been watching you for a short while and I'm so glad i found you. You're such a positive, cheerful person. Seeing you tidy and put up those crazy lights we got to see the unique space you've made. It's like an enchanted cottage. Like one of those intricate drawings in a fairytale... or brambly hedge... (is that what its called?) Anyway... glad you got to see your father and brother. I'm coming up on the one year anniversary of losing my husband, so Christmas is not feeling that festive and with this invisible monster we are all dealing with, I'll just let it be another day. Maybe make a few mince pies for myself... found a jar of mincemeat in the cupboard... have a happy Christmas and I look forward to seeing what you made...🙄 take care and be safe. 🎄💚

The little apron is sweet. It sort of reminds me of those pocket mini-aprons to put clothes pins into for using on the clothesline.

Hi Kate, like you I was lucky enough to see my son before the new lockdown started, but my daughter was due to spend Christmas with her boyfriends family for the first time, and now they can't even see each other as they are level 3 and we are level 4 , and she's shielding again. Have a wonderful Christmas time and I hope you're able to see your granddaughter and the rest of the family.

Merry Christmas Kate. It is a different Christmas, but if people are safe then thats the best gift ever. Glad you got to see your Dad. I have my Mum with me because she lives 3.5 hours away and lives alone, and has no outside contact except for me. But so many families must be craving to see each other. All the best and keep well.

That apron is never going to bring you joy every stitch filled with pain and torment at least mine was ! I put my white apron with bib with my initials stitched on the bib in navy chain stitch on a ceremonious bonfire now that did bring me joy 😂

Loved this one Kate, the music is my favourite O Holy night, what a fabulous pianist. Your room looks so cozy and that stained glass window is so beautiful. I remember all the hand sewing we used to do at school, your apron is such a great design, wouldn’t mind one like that myself, had to laugh because I was just thinking that the design reminded me of the squeezy ketchup tomato, when you said it 🙂 it really is very good for a child your age when you made it, maybe you should hand it down to Agnes, I’m sure she would treasure it. Merry Christmas To you and your lovely family Kate x

Squeezy tomato dispensers?? Here's to a much happier and better 2021. This will be our first Christmas without our daughter. 27 years in a row, but not this year. We're a military family and are used to going without seeing family members. But this year, we just can't risk it. We have to realise that it's not forever. Happy Christmas to you and kitties. Happy Christmas everyone.

I have projects that my children made in school that are nearing 50 years old, they are precious for no other reason than they were made for me, when they were so little. So sad to hear of the additional lockdown in your country, stay safe. From Bellingham, WA USA

This video was such a blessing and brought great joy to me when I needed it most. I live alone in the USA on our family farm which is no longer farmed in the way it was when I was a child with all the animals and gardens, etc but I have memories here and love living in the country. I live about six miles from our town of about 1100 people. My mother is 94 and is living in a residential home plus now and receives wonderful love and care there but Covid is keeping me from seeing her very often but I call her every day as I know it is also lonely for her. What a crazy time we live in, but I know that the Lord watches over us all who believe and are followers of Christ. I loved seeing the makings of the things for the Christmas box and if there are any left after Christmas I would love to purchase one from you. I wish I had found your channel sooner but I have been going back and watching your videos and they are such a joy to me; thank you so much for sharing your life, your makings, and your family!! I wish you a Merry Christmas and pray blessings for you and of course your lovely cats - I so enjoy seeing them. P.S. I was doing come EPP while I watched this video, such a joy it is.
