Your kale is beautiful along with the rest of your greens 💚 I had no idea about the elephant garlic taking so long to produce since I didn't have any luck growing them. I like the portable greenhouse on your fig and excited to see your new build. TFS!

My Bok choy is bolting because of the drops at night. We are getting down to the 30's at night and low 50's during the days but everything is still growing. I wish I had planted more broccoli. I'm planting 4 different verities of broccoli for spring. Thanks for commenting.

@growingoutthebox Well, like you've said, you learn as you grow, and now you know more broccoli. This food you grow with your hands is your medicine. I'm tired at 69, but these last two weeks are my last, and I retire. I will start a garden come spring, and it will be in the planning until then . Thank you for what you share with us. You are an encouragement to me.

Hey neighbor. 🤗I want to thank you again for that video "To mention or not to mention". Sometimes it takes that outside voice to set course. Finding that balance of what's right and what's in your best interest requires additional effort. I like to mention but I will only if we align. That's why I shared your video. You may want to consider splitting your channel Faith. Cooking or gardening. Personally, I don't have an interest in cooking so when you post those that content I have to admit I don't watch. I'll watch gardening videos sometimes just because. I also have a channel thatI haven't posted to in over a year about my cars. When I separated my gardening the gardening took off. Just a lil food for Faith. 🙏🏽

Yes Ma'am..... Bring a cup and a half of water to a boil and drop a half cup of diced radish and a diced up fingertip of ginger for 10 minutes. Remove from heat and add a whole lemon and raw honey to your liking. True story.... That is why I started gardening. I wanted to grow my own. 2020 I got really sick for the 1st time in my life. I was on montelukast, symbicort and albuterol several times a day. I haven't needed any of it in over a year half. I no longer have low oxygen in my blood. #radish.... The combo of this drink.... I can go on and on!

LOL. Yes, radish in my tea. radish is one of the most overlooked beneficial plants that we can grow. 1/2 cup of radish, finger tip of ginger diced into dime size. Bring a 1-1/2 cup of water to a boil and drop the radius and ginger in. Add a top and let steep for 10 minutes. Strain and add a whole lemon and your liking of raw honey. My family ask for it whenever they feel like they are coming down with something.

I love this channel. Raddish in your tea why? It's being in the 30 degrees' at night but all i have out is garlic. Everything else i have is in the cold room in seed packs. I am inspirer every time you do a video. I have 5 20 black pots and 5 5 gallon grow pots. I don' if it is yo late to plant anything now in kentucky. Blueberry bushes in pots on terrace. They are all red color now. Wondering if i should water them and cover them up if it snows later on. Thanks❤😊 got get those greenhouses. Do i buy them on line? Thanks again.

I'm working on getting a discount code for the mini greenhouse. I'll put it in the pinned comment. As far as the blueberries that need the cold to produce berries next season. The only time I cover them is if they are flowering which mine are doing right now but I haven't covered them so far. The red is normal. As far as the benefits of radish....So many I have to point you to webMD. They are like a maintenance program. I boil a half cup of radish and 1 finger tip of ginger for 10 minute in a cup and a half of water. Add a whole lemon and honey to your liking after removing from heat. Try that any time you aren't feel your best. www.webmd.com/diet/health-benefits-radish

Your garden is absolutely beautiful. Layout about all. Are you mowing in between the beds in warmer weather? One thing I find amazing is that you don't have anything under or around the raised beds, just regular old yard.

Yes and yes. I use a push mower. That's tedious exercise. lol. I try to grow organically and to build a healthy ecosystem we need diversity. The more roots in the soil the greater diversity. I enjoy walking barefoot in the garden. Spiritual grounding. When everything is trimmed up and the grass is cut I sit in my rocking chair and and get lost in time know that you are connected to something far greater. That's spiritual grounding for me.

Awesome tour….your garden looks like it’s in the middle of summer……so nice and healthy. I never heard of radish tea, but I will definitely give it a try. I bet the radishes have the save sting effect as ginger. I learned how to make homemade ginger ale a few days ago. Next on my agenda is radish tea. 😊 Thanks for sharing!
@growingoutthebox

LOL.... The radish tea stinks and does not taste the best but it does the job of keeping you out of the DRs office. Bring a cup and half of water to a boil. Drop a half cup of diced radish and a finger tip of diced ginger in and let steep for 10 minute. Strain and add a whole lemon and honey to your liking.

@@growingoutthebox Your recipe is very similar to the ginger ale. I used about a cup of freshly cleaned ginger 🫚 and 1 lime (skin in tact for both). Place both in a blender with about 4 cups of water (blend well). Strain and add honey to the concentrated mixture. In a glass add ice, seltzer water, and some of the concentrated mixture to taste.

LOL.... I don't! I want to be able to grow year round so I experiment with different growing techniques. I believe the greatest changes came for the better when I started focussing on growing the soil biology. I have invested in a microscope to see what is growing in the soil and try to compensate for whatever is needed. Believe it or not.... Everything is in the compost!

@growingoutthebox
@growingoutthebox Жыл бұрын
You can purchase some when it warms up but for now you can start prepping the beds with lots of organic material. Order a coffee bean 🫘 grinder. I think I paid $8 for the one I have. When ever you add your plants mix in maybe a teaspoon per plant. You can also mix it into your soil but I am trying to get away from turning my soil. It disturbs the fungal growth. Still tweaking the system but I am very pleased with the results so far. Make sure you click the notification bell because I will be posting a video about how to use eggshells in the garden.

Looking GREAT Unc! I'm most impressed with those dinosaur kales tho... I'm starting mine over in a couple months. After 2 years of growing em (2k21 we had that freak freeze here in Texas that wiped em out, then 2 days it dropped down to 0° last year and wiped em out again) I've found they're not as cold hardy as other kales/collards, so this next round I start with em i know what, how, and when to do with em lol 💪🏾

It's all about learning what grows well in your garden. You make the adjustments to better prepare yourself for the next season. Some people brag about growing 30 different types of tomatoes. I grow 3 types that have me with tomatoes even up until now because I grow what grows best in my garden and not worry about what everyone else is growing. We learn even from the things that don't go as planned. make adjustments and move forward.

You have to keep feeding the soil lots of organic matter. You will need less and less fertilizer. The mulch helps the microbes thrive. The population drops when the soil dries out.

Hey there. Sounds like the temperature is ideal as potatoes love the cool weather. Lighting would be needed for photosynthesis. Tubers won’t form without light.
